    What I found baffling today regarding the whole long ball argument is that whenever Villa seemed to get the ball in the box, there was hardly anyone there

    I personally believe Lambert has tried to implement a more cautious approach to games as a result of generally conceding a lot last season. As a result we only start playing after conceding which is annoying. This isn't helped by us gifting goals to the opposition.

    Even if Hutton played now there would always be the idea that Lambert tried desperately to sell him on the back of his mind. Few players would give 100% in those circumstances I'm sure.

    I don't understand why Lerner can't just issue a statement. This constant secrecy is nothing but plain worrying for fans. Fair enough if he doesn't want to come out and do a press conference but a bit of dialogue straight from the man himself would be welcome.
