  1. outside of those, he's been pretty anonymous but not been "bad"
  2. Dougie hasn't been good, Ollie has been able to beat the defenders but finishing is not up to standard. McGinn's been fairly anonymous. Buendia has been all over the pitch (not necessarily a good thing or a bad thing). Olsen hasn't been bad eithert
  3. forgot that we have bald Tierney as ref
  4. Gregg Evans had an athletic article out earlier (I know I know Gregg isn't the best source). He suggested Pulisic as a realistic target though which caught my attention
  5. not that this will really affect us but
  6. I doubt we will see any major sales in Jan because we don't really have that type of player to sell. I think this summer is when we can expect major change. Clear we need another winger in Jan no matter what
  7. i agree with both of you on this, but I would figure that the club won't think this is close to their valuation of him, especially after signing a new deal recently. they have to be looking for a new one (obviously with the Neuer injury) but it feels like he wouldn't fit their style + the asking price would be pretty huge when there are cheaper alternatives
  8. fair enough. I thought he was outstanding, getting all of the major calls correct and not giving "soft" fouls
  9. he got sent off in a youth game I believe is the story & went to talk to the ref who had & was told if he should try it himself. Clearly a good advert for ex-players to get involved in actually reffing and not just complaining about the calls.
  10. Those 2 would be good opportunities I think. Also iirc MacAllister resigned with Brighton right before the WC.
  11. best knockout GK in the world right now
  12. I think it would be a smart option, but I just don't see it as a realistic one.
  13. Pulisic would also instantly grow our fanbase here stateside as well
  14. Seems like a lot has been going off down under with the A-League recently. Think they moved the finals to Sydney for the next 3 or 4 years instead of the higher placed team. then today, this happened
  15. SHA have gone into administration in my save the first season. 12-point deduction time
  16. still don't think he'd come here but it would be one of, if not the biggest non sky 6 transfers in history. He'd immediately be our best player & probably one of the best players we've ever seen wear the shirt. Still, not going to happen though.
  17. He's started 1 of the 2 PL games under Unai so not really sure you can read that. Can't really take the friendly games as what he's going to do for the rest of the year as we don't have a full complement of squad available.
  18. Another thing that I want to keep in mind is -- we need/should get a few out the door in the summer. I keep coming back to McGinn, Sanson & Nakamba. The setup we have means that we don't need to have 7 senior midfielders for 2 spots & it feels like those 3 are going to be the ones who might find themselves with less gametime. Think we should let one or two of them go
  19. Thuram's on an expiring contract iirc, so I'd hope he doesn't And Torres doesn't play for a club as big as Atleti. I'm not arguing with your point, as I would tend to agree with it. Just saying that most players are going to be along the same lines when signing
  20. I mean that is probably the same for most of any of our alleged potential targets, e.g., Pau Torres, Marcus Thuram, they're not coming here because they love the Villa & want to play at VP. It's their job and will be compensated handsomely. I do think we should have more of an interest in transfers like Emi's & Dougie's as they were already at "top" clubs and are coming for the increase in playing time. But on the other hand, we have blokes like Mings & McGinn who actually probably have a great affinity for the club -- and even though they have this, more than likely the main reason they'd stay at Villa is because they just don't have the ability to be a regular starter for a PL winning side.
  21. would love for this to be the case but with how football works these days, we wouldn't have a fighting chance to do much of anything. We need all the financial "help" (FFP help) that we can get and I'm sure that we were financially incentivized to go over there. Plus, speaking as an American Football & real football coach (for high school level), having a group camp with the squad really helps build cohesion. On to Dougie -- I'm really looking forward to see his partnership with Kamara or Dendoncker
