  1. To me a uk based buyer is now more likley. The idea of a foreign investor coming in and pumping in loads of money to makes us CL is fraught with problems - not only FFP - but that the big 4 are so far ahead of us now.... To me the people who are are now likley to be intersted in buying Aston Villa are wealthy supporters - who can raise money via a consortuim - on the one hand they wouldn't have millions - but on the other they may run us better which feasibly has to be our best hope ...... Nicholas Padfield lead such a consortuim last time - and is still a regular at Villa Park Howard Hodgson - is another who may possibly lead a consortuim Or as others have suggested Tom Fox may have some contacts - although that seems a long shot IMO....
  2. Ding ding we have a winner, that is exactly how it is. Labour or conservatives that is what's going to happen. The reality is it's too expensive and with all the influx of people coming it cannot sustain in its current form You've swallowed the lies hook line and sinker. The NHS is in crisis, because it's always in crisis with Tory Govts. The Tories fought its inception, and would happily see its demise. Labour created it, and are its only real hope. I work for the NHS - and let me tell you the reality of privatised contracts - I think most people think that contracts go to the big corporates like Glaxo health care, for example. Thats the not the case some of the contracts are going to god damm awful companies, who struggle to retain staff - I dread phoning the one for 'oh he left' makes my job loads more difficult, - the really sad part is - I have no out - I can not kick these companies out - they seem untouchable - its so damm fustrating...
  3. You really think there is little difference in how a incoming conservative government would manage the NHS and how a Labour government does Ive worked for the NHS for 15 years - and the mismanagement, and chaos, and wastage of the last 4 dwarfs anything I've ever seen, - I actually think the Conservatives want to dis own the NHS and push the responsibility of it the Local Government - I believe that's what will happen should the conservatives win next time - Its another reorganisation - but this time by stealth.
  4. +1 for yoga or pilates - really helped me (but it won't be a quick fix) If that doesn't work - I would take the surgey - but bear in mind those who suceed are those in the best the shape - so get yourself as strong and flexible as you can - then shop around for a good surgeon - don't be afraid to ask for a specific surgeon - and insist that he\she does the slicing - not one of his subordinates... An orthpedic surgeon once told me that is what they operate on the root cause ? - (for example of your bulging discs are caused being overweight or problems further up the spine - then just mending them won't help) .....this theory would also explain why trauma surgey is more succesful than surgery for degenarative conditions....
  5. I never quite understand how they measure that Cameron won (Or EM) To be valid those people have to be totally neutral - otherwise they are just voting along party lines - with the debate not making much difference whatever happens..... Cameron isn't widley loathed by any stretch - numerous polls have shown that he is signficantly more popular than EM - so if he 'Won' last nights debate 54-46 - He actually hasn't done that well. I think the whole thing is pointless - anyone (or a majority) who tunes in - will already be rooting for there man (ie mind already made up) - the don't don't knows - probably won't be watching !!!!

    Top Gear

Arthur Scargill with Mylene Class would be my choice.
  7. Is our new found optimism built on the flimsy foundations of a woeful Sunderland ...and a very poor away from home WBA....?......hardly a brave new world is it ?

    Tickets

My son is playing a cup final that day - so he can't go - I would like to give his ticket to my dad Does anyone know if I can purchase an OAP ticket - which a childs season ticket ?
  9. Shearer on the Gerrard sending Off "Well he's come right out and apologized - fair play to him need to see more of that" Im actually surprised Gerrard got the red for that - Ive seen him get away with such things on numerous occasions ..... Be intersted to see what happens with Skirtlel...
  10. Don't know so much - you could see him cursing as the physio came over to him - it was though he felt something 'go' - and knew immediatley what it was.... I am wondering if Kozak may be rushed back - sure he probably couldn't stick 90 minutes - but wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench v Manu ......we are desparatley short of goals...
  11. Probably true - but I wouldn't want to go into that Burnley game needing 3 points to stay up - given how wasteful we are in front of goal - anything could happen in that game. My big fear is that Clark is 1 card away from a ban - if he picks up 1 at Manu - would he miss the QPR game - throw in an injured Benteke - and perhaps that game doesn't look so straightforward...
  12. If we are as poor in front of goal as we were yesterday..there wont be any easy games....
  13. We've beaten Albion who are terrible away from home - and Sunderland - who were just woeful. ( Granted we probably wouldn't have won those had we not changed the manager) - But weve lost to Newcaste, Stoke, and now Swansea - my conclusion it doesn't take much of a team to beat us. Still think 2 wins and a draw will do it - Ideally we could with a freak result against on the big boys..
  14. Dunno - Swansea missed a couple of sitters - and Clark I think kicked one of the line. Overall no complaints about the result. I did think we had weathered the storm and secured a point - However I don't think we were unlucky today on the balance of play...
  15. I think you're putting way too much into this one result. A win would've been a huge boost but it wouldn't have settled things. Just because we lost in the end doesn't necessarily mean it'll go to the wire either. Individual games rarely involve absolutes and this is no exception. OK - Thanks for the clarification.
  16. What was the attendance today - it wasn't announced at the game, its not on the OS ? - any ideas ?
  17. What are you talking about? We can still stay up on our own terms, it's just a bit harder. It's not like we're in the bottom 3. thought that might confuse you What a meant was that had we won today - IMO it would matter not if Sunderlands forms picked up - I would confident of gathering enough points whatever sunderland did. Now our mini upturn in form can be put down to last minute penaly against Albion - who are woeful away from home - and an away win against a desperate Sunderland side.......... I expect this to go to the last game now. I'm not "confused" at all. Today doesn't exactly change a massive amount. A win today would've been a massive boost but we still wouldn't have been completely safe. It's not like if we'd won today we could've then afforded to go on another nightmare run like we did at the end of last season. We were also pretty woeful away from home up until that Sunderland game, so I don't think it can be dismissed as flippantly as that. I disagree - a win today - over a reasonable side would have changed everything. It would have taken us to 31 points - One win and one draw away from probable safety Also beating a reasonable Swansea side - would give me confidence that we could get those results in our future games Pivotal day IMO - we now go to the wire - victory today would have given us a buffer..

  19. Apart from the result the real worry was that our finishing seems to have regressed to where it was pre sherwood.
  20. I thought he was awful today - he played like his boots were covered in margarine ! It worries me how early on after signing he scored a few goals - but now his finishing is as bad as the other strikes - 2 reasonable chances today - and missed a sitter at Sunderland - it seems our training makes the strikers worse !
  21. When asked about the injuries to Benteke and Cleverly Sherwood said 'they will be assessed in the next couple of days - But it don't look good'
  22. We lost the chance to stay up on our own terms - we just have to hope those below us keep loosing..
  23. I nervous because:- Can we possibly win 4 games in a row ? and that I may miss kick off due to the slow speed of my son getting ready !
