  1. QPR, Leicester, Burnley have consistently been in the bottom 3 - wouldn't surprise me if those 3 went. Would like to see WBA sweat a bit - but no relegated (we need the points next season !!!)
  2. Yep - I think he has that bit extra over Okore at the moment.
  3. thinking about - I didn't see a yellow before the red (you know the way they usually do it, Yellow - Red) surely that wasn't a straight red ?
  4. Ultimate Irony last week I was getting loads of texts saying they were glad they lost as its puts villa in the shite.....phone quiet so far this week.....
  5. villa 39% sunderland 62% wba 22% Inter milan 23% blyth spartan 10% Ive never understood percentuges !
  6. Massive result - just we needed - one more win should do it
  7. Win today - and we would only need 1 more win IMO .....no bigger incentive.
  8. Nonsense. So they are the worse team in the league although they are not bottom and suddenly going to win all their remaining games? QPR are useless. But to be honest I was alluding to how poor we are. Safety is in our own hands but when you throw leads away like we did the other night against an exceptionally poor team then it points towards relegation. We are running out of games. Against an exceptionally poor team, that are suddenly going to beat some top 4 teams? Are we discounting Burnley, Leicester, Hull and Sunderland? QPR are exceptionally poor and we threw that game away. I think you are missing my point, we are in control of our own destiny and are not doing a particularly good job at it. We should have put the QPR game to bed but didn't. We may have beaten the Baggies with a last minute goal and smashed Sunderland but we could, and should, have got results against Stoke and Newcastle but didn't. I am not saying QPR will go on and win all of their games, but evidence suggests we are going to struggle to string a series of results together. Bang on - right on the money. Top post
  9. I agree - although I would identify the QPR match as the deal breaker. But when weve only beaten Leicester, Hull, and WBA at home all season - the odds on us winning two of the remaining three are IMO long. - Spurs don't seem in great form - so we really need to spring a surprise today IMO. Key moments for me - should we be relegated Over the Xmas period we had some easy looking home game - unfortunately Lambert decided to pass the ball sideways at walking pace for these games - those were big points - had we banked them we wouldn't have such a problem now Swansea - Having beaten WBA and Sunderland - this game was a test - had we turned the corner ? ......no !!!!! I believe we will win 1 more home game - thats why today is Key IMO...
  10. Hes 46 - I know he doesn't look it. Hence the inverted commas... Sorry, fancy words again! Respect - you have me there !
  11. Unless we get a freak result I have us ending up with 34 points - Im saying we beat West Ham - Draw with Everton, Burnley.... That suggests you think us beating Burnley (or even Everton) would be considered a freak result. Im sure you know what I mean - but for clarity and away win at Tottenham or Man city I would consider a freak result.
  12. Unless we get a freak result I have us ending up with 34 points - Im saying we beat West Ham - Draw with Everton, Burnley....
  13. They look a tougher (or at best comparable) set of fixtures than Stoke, Swansea , QPR - We didn't win any of those - what is your basis for saying these are winnable ? - Weve only won 3 home games all season - Hull, Leicester and WBA ....
  14. Given that we have only won 3 home games all season, and now we have to win 2 of the remaining 3. - we really need a freaky away win on Saturday....
  15. I was expecting 3 from swansea - and to a lesser extent QPR You can expect what you like - problem is Villa have consistently failed to deliver on those expectations - maybe it will all fall into place over the remaining games
  16. Our inability to beat teams of the calbre of WHU and Everton at home is why we are where we are. So basically if we can do in those two games what has eluded us all season - we will be ok. - Hence my concern.....
  17. If the points haul is 1 per game - we have to improve or at the very least maintain that agaist stiffer opposition. IMO if we got one win where we didn't expect it - then its pretty much do able....

    Carles Gil

we dont know what goes on in training. We got him for 3 million, maybe was a reason Valencia sold so cheap especially since they dont have to sell players anymore and as I said unless Gil has become a full back in last few weeks we are not desperate for goals anymore Pretty much this. He was brought to be the creative spark - but TS has worked round that by other (and IMO better) means. I will critiscise sherwood for not getting points on the board - but he has to manage as he see's fit. if that means no CG so be it.
  19. I must have been at a different game - much as I like him - I thought he was very poor last night. Easily pushed off the ball, poor challenges, and poor decision making. 2nd worse player to Richardson on the night...
  20. In the 7 games before we averaged 0.3 points per game 0.1 goals per game. Now its 1 point a game and 1.6 goals a game. I think that's a pretty big impact. Then throw in 2 fa cup wins against premier league opposition to get us an fa cup semi final. Whatever...... is it a big enough impact to keep us up ? - bear in mind the only real top team weve played since Sherwood arrived is Manu To me he needs a win, where we don't expect one - ie Spurs or Man city - If we don't the pressure going into West Ham & Everton games would go against us. Highly unlikley we will get 3pts at Spurs - but if somehow we did - we would be highly likley to stay up - pretty sure TS will go for it.
  21. This x 100 I find it incredible that some have written him off after 10 games. I think people forget what a mess the club was in when he took over. It wasn't so long ago some people were saying Lambert needed 2-3 years to turn things around. Sherwood has made a marked improvement on the dross we were served up by St Paul imo. Were palace in less of a mess? West brom? Massive improvements with average managers at the helm for those teams. We've just got ourselves another crap manager. That would be great point if only it had any statistical or factual merit. Sherwoods first 7 League - Won 2, Drawn 1, Lost 4, scored 11, conceeded 11, points 7, Goal Difference 0 Pulis first 7, Won 3, Drawn 3, Lost 1, scored 6, conceeded 5, points 12, goal difference +1. (Currently on 15 points from 11 games, g difference - 5) Pardew first 7, Won 3, Drawn 1, Lost 3, scored 10, comceeded 9, points 10, goal difference +1. (Now at 19 from 11 games, +4 goals.) Yet you say they wrought, Quote 'Massive Improvements". So basically if we had scored 1 more goal and turned a draw to a win he would pretty much match these apparently far superior managers. And neither of those inherited a Club who simply couldnt score goals. In Pulis case, you would also have been knocked out the FA Cup by your rivals, and have to watch dire football. Sadly its such small margins that could relegate us - and extra 2 points would be massive at this stage. Of course - but thats not the point......the guy knocking Sherwood was explicitly stating those two Managers brought about MASSIVE changes. I am simply pointing out that is just not so. FWIW I think Sherwoods approach is exactly what we need to get those crucial extra 2 or 3 points. Whether he is good enough long term can wait until the end of the season. Is he good enough, has he done enough to keep us up this season .....its looks dodgy to me.... Night all ! UTV
  22. No need for that kind of post. Especially as it isn't what you normally post. I think it is fully justified. I am making the point that fans who, after a few games, are effectively saying the Manager doesnt know what he is doing half the time, might like to consider that perhaps he does at least see as much as them, plus works with players every day, and that maybe, just maybe, he has good reasons for what he does. Beleive me Id rather not be posting any of this after what I thought was a terrific game of football, but I am genuinely utterly sick of the constant comments of a minority who have clearly already decided, and seem almost pleased that, our Manager is an idiot ! But I don't think many are actually saying that - I think a lot of people have reservations - but those 100% against him are few and far between IMO
