  1. I know a Bristol Rovers fan and he says the best Pirate was Nathan Ellington
  2. Welcome aboard and thank you for the respect you are showing us the fans, something sadly lacking in the previous regime. The only question I can think of to ask at present as most have been quickly and well answered by yourselves (as board members) or Randy, Is how you intend to go about making the Aston Villa brand global? (I am making assumptions on that one which I feel are none to presumptious given the game as a whole seems to be going worldwide) and will we be seeing Aston Villa shirt appear on the Browns website in the same way we have seen Browns shirts appear on the Official AVFC website? M
  3. Nice review Blandy and I think the realists amidst us knew that if Liverpool got the side and tactics right and played well enough (which was very likely given the backlash from the Man U result) that Villa were always going to get beat no matter what the XI no matter what the tactics. It's gonna take time to build this unit but with patience I think wins at places like Anfield in the next few years are not beyond us.
  4. Time for Lawro League after 10 games TEAM P W D L GD Pts Chelsea 10 7 3 0 14 24 Man Utd 10 7 3 0 12 24 Arsenal 9 7 1 1 14 22 Liverpool 10 4 6 0 6 18 West Ham 10 3 6 1 2 15 Bolton 10 3 5 2 2 14 Villa 10 3 5 2 -1 14 Wigan 9 3 4 2 2 13 Everton 10 3 4 3 1 13 Blackburn 10 3 4 3 -3 13 Tottenham 10 2 6 2 1 12 Portsmouth 10 2 6 2 0 12 Boro 10 2 4 4 -4 10 Charlton 10 1 5 4 -5 8 Sheff Utd 10 1 5 4 -6 8 Newcastle 10 1 4 5 -5 7 Fulham 10 1 4 5 -6 7 Watford 10 1 4 5 -7 7 Man City 10 1 4 5 -7 7 Reading 10 1 2 7 -10 5
  5. Have a radio which I always listen to in the bath and also the one in my car. None of this DAB stuff though far too expensive for me atm
  6. Chelsea take over on top of Lawro's League this week as Man Utd play Liverpool and Lawro couldn't possibly predict either side to lose. Villa creep up to 6th, meanwhile Reading sit a shocking 19th according to Camp boy. I'll post the full league standings (which Bri will have to tidy up for me) next week as we'll be at the 10 games gone point!
  7. CV and trim compare beard food content with the local tramp!
  8. Amen so it's not just me that often doesn't understand whether Malc's posts are being sarcastic or realistic. I normally have to wait 5 reponses before typing a reply to see whether I've got the correct end of the stick or not! If MON spends money in January IMO he'll do it wisely and to a point whereby he can get the maximum benefit in terms of performance from his new players and league position of the side. If he doesn't spend money it will be because he has judged that the benefits in terms of league placing will not necessarily equate to the expenditure in January!
  9. Have updated the Lawro league and will put standings up next week, interesting to see the Camp one has no defeats down for Liverpool, Man Utd or Chelsea yet! Villa lie 7th with 11 points and a 0 goal difference!
  10. I like nearly all polls, not Graham though he's a word removed!
  11. Lawro's League Week 6 (The first two weeks were all put as 0-0's as the camp one made no predictions, hence the rather large sum of draws) Team P W D L GD Pts Man Utd 6 4 2 0 7 14 Chelsea 6 3 3 0 6 12 Blackburn 6 3 2 1 1 11 Arsenal 5 3 1 1 5 10 Liverpool 6 2 4 0 2 10 A Villa 6 2 4 0 2 10 Bolton 6 2 3 1 2 9 Wigan 5 2 2 1 1 8 Pompey 6 1 5 0 1 8 Everton 6 1 4 1 0 7 W. Ham 6 1 4 1 -1 7 Spurs 6 1 3 2 0 6 Newcastle 6 1 3 2 0 6 Sheff Utd 6 1 3 2 -2 6 Reading 6 1 2 3 -3 5 Charlton 6 0 4 2 -3 4 Watford 6 0 3 3 -4 3 Man City 6 0 3 3 -4 3 Boro 6 0 3 3 -5 3 Fulham 6 0 3 3 -6 3 You get the gist at the moment! Am waiting to see if he predicts a score for the Arse game in hand or not, if he doesn't that too will go as a 0-0 BOF : Prettified it
  12. Not by villa there won't, the transfer window is shut and barring a goalkeeping emergency sides will be stuck with what they have! have updated the Lawro league and will post the first standings of it next week as it'll be at 6 games and a few sides will have spread out following Lawro's non predictions on the first two games!
  13. One can?! What after 4 games?! A season is 38 games long and I'd be pleased with 10th this season. Amazing what a couple of decent performances can do for confidence. I'm a realist and when the injuries hit and suspensions start I know this squad won't be capable of performing as well as it has done thus far under MON!
  14. Possibly in bad taste, but anyway: The Australian government today released a statement saying that Steve Irwin would have survived had he worn sunscreen as it protects against harmful and dangerous rays
  15. Die Hard, One man vigilante at it's best!
  16. Die Hard for me, as it's not there I'm not voting!
  17. I'll add how we are doing in the Lawro league to this thread every so often if BOF doesn't mind, because the Camp ones predictions don't really deserve their own thread. Any game Mr Lawro doesn't predict automatically gets given as a 0-0 draw but we're up and running now so should be interesting.
  18. Unfortunately their new one will have clearance in time for the game!
  19. Going for a draw and a damp squib of a 0-0 one at that.
  20. Wheres Jez when you need him :winkold:
  21. nah we need to wait till LSE confirm that the club is in the hands of a Mr Randolph Lerner and not Herbert Ellis before locking this as last time we jumped the gun a bit!
  22. I prefer option 2) and with Michael Neville lifelong Michael Neville fan included in the bid just so the pair of them have thrwon money at it and lost because the way they questioned the Lerner bid when their own wasn't even pulled together was pathetic!
  23. Hmm methinks this is maybe why the article in the Post appeared today RE scepticism of Lerner as if the fans do not sell their shares to him, because of press scaremongering etc he wouldn't get to 75% therefore Padfield could look to buy Villa off Randy for what Lerner bought it for in the first place.
  24. The key point for Glazer was when he bought out McManus and Magnier which is why i believe that the key point for Lerner will be when he buys out Ellis & Petchey!
  25. Without doubt the best bit of business Doug did for Aston Villa Football Club!
