  1. I can see Ellis now, "He doesn't look a bad player for £1,000,000" DOL "Thats £10 million Doug" Ellis "You can collect your P45 in the morning David"
  2. Noel said he didn't want Lyla to be the first single off the album but the record company dictated that it should be. If you think thats thebest track off DBTT then you must be crazy! So to say the best they can come up with after 2 years off is Lyla is rubbish!
  3. Have you watched Spanish football in the past 4 years?! Because if you had you'd realise that before Beckham arrived Luis Figo was the driving force behind Real when they won things! He is class, the only part of your argument that I agree with is the fact that he'll never come to villa!
  4. Have to disagree with this wholesale! The guy has 2 great feet is a former European Player of The Year and tears sides apart week in/week out when played. If he's overrated what the hell does that make people's opinions on this site of Angel
  5. I'd buy a season ticket if we bought Luis Figo and travel from Torquay every week, needless to say this won't happen then. I'm sure anyone who knows the slightest thing about football wants him at our club, go on you old pantspisser make a name for yourself for the right reasons just this once!
  6. Is it time for the Stones vs Beatles debate yet?
  7. Interesting today to see 2 clubs have agreed a fee for Stead, Sunderland and A N Other presumably thats not us! Skysports website has the top villa news that Richardson of England debut fame is not content with a place on the bench at manure and Villa and WBA are leading the chase should he leave and Ryan Taylor the Tranemere full back who was impressive in the Play Off 2nd leg and mentioned on here has agreed a fee to join Everton. Don't think its us in for Stead but you never know!!!
  8. Oasis because Definitely Maybe is the best debut album by a band ever and although Blur made some good records its fairly apparent in the longevity status that Oasis get the nod as well!
  9. He also proceeded to score the next penalty to put England out but yes that is all, it was said in jest, just in case you'd missed it. Also hearing the Parker to Everton thing looks very done but ITSOTP is still the key
  10. If Keane does go to Newcastle does that mean we'll get him in 2-3 years for about £1.5 million, that'll be the excuse Doug uses not to buy him anyway! Also get ready for an influx of people saying we should loan Kieran Richardson, and this then followed by people saying that they don't like loan signings!!!
  11. Sorry my bad. It is the one who Vass doesn't like very much played for Sporting Lisbon
  12. Think Carroll would be demanding a 1st team place hence why he hasn't re-signed with Man Utd and as in the past, DOL says he can't offer that. Wouldn't mind Ricardo on a free though, although it is questionable how him and Vass would get on
  13. Rommedahl isn't a bad shout in that I don't think we've seen anywhere near the best of him yet, abroad he was amazing and with form only being temporary etc. if DOL could make him settle then he could be a hell of an asset!
  14. Problem with that side is without Vassell it lacks pace both over 2 yards and 20. I think we seriously require a tricky winger (in the Tony Daley mould) and a midfielder with a creative edge who can arrive late in the box and score goals as well. But then again in an ideal world we wouldn't have Ellies in charge!
  15. Graeme Le Saux has retired and I don't think I'm alone in having not wanting him anyway. Ashton would be the best of those available but don't think he'd work to well with Angel and having seen some peoples reaction to Cole because he didn't partner Juan very well (despite both! being off-form), I'd fear for Ashton's confidence, but I'm sure DOL has a better idea of what we need than I do so I sit and wait to be pleasantly surprised!
  16. With Koumas on the transfer list, how long till we're linked? Don't particularly like him or want him, but midfield with small amount of creative capability means automatically linked to us!
  17. Yeah I heard that Mourinho was after an English LB as well, although not necessarily J'Lloyd, but that was before it all blew up in his face!
  18. Just read that worryingly Jose Mourinho has said "In the midfield we can keep them all and add another 1" Talk about just being plain greedy!
  19. Think BigJim is going by bbc report on the website that Mandaric is braced to lose Yak and Middlesbrough are front runners with Steve McClaren all but admitting an interest because if you actually admit an interest you get an FA enquiry unless your owners are very rich
  20. The Russian teams are a relatively unknown and untapped market at present with only Chelsea buying both Jarosik (who looks very useful from the bits i've seen of him, although admittedly he is always likely to be in Makele's shadow given his current form) and Smertin (who I haven't really seen a great deal of) I think teams often fear the adaptation to the English game would be a problem, plus the unpriven status of many players makes them a large gamble.
  21. Fernando Cavenaghi, ex River Plate like our own JPA, is a possibility up front with a half decent record in Europe. Heard he was Serie A bound (alledgedly being tracked by Milan & Juve if you believe everything you read in the papers) earlier in the season but nothing seemed to come of it. On approx £30k a week at Spartak so not sure if Doug would stretch to it, but an interesting name to put in the melting pot with the rest
  22. I'll put it back on topic as some other seems unable to do so and merely want to draw a response! I'd like to see us sign (obviously within reason!)with approx fees: Lee Camp (Derby, competition for Tommy) £3m Ben Futcher (Lincoln, Defender as scouted by DOL) £500k Phil Jagielka (Sheff Utd) £3m Steed Malbranque (Fulham) £5m Patrik Berger (Pompey) Free Striker (£6-7m) someone like Javier Chavanton with a decent rep, i'll leave DOL to fill in the name
  23. I assure you I did speak to Mr Parker at Chelsea's training ground last week and asked him about if he'd heard anything about a transfer. But hey next you'll tell me I didn't have Coco Pops for breakfast this morning! I'm sure your source is normally reliable but on this case doubt he/she is!
  24. Dunno who your source is on this but its rubbish, spoken with Scott and as far as he's concerned any deal with regards his future is far from clear-cut, although he wants to stay and play at Chelsea which is udnerstandable considering the players they have and the way they're playing, sense someone somewhere has led you up a garden path
