  1. I say yes because if it improves him as a player thats good for us as a club and I really couldn't give a shit about SHA to care enough if they come up or not. I tend to think a bit bigger in terms of our rivals over the next few years than that shower from down the road!
  2. Have voted for 50's so OF isn't the only 1 :winkold:
  3. Good to hear from you General, make sure you let us know when your over our side of the pond next because the drinks will be lined up at the bar for you
  4. Fairly sure the Bale bid isn't Villa because someone would have heard about it and that doesn't appear to be the case. Reckon it's probably Newcastle or West Ham
  5. As promised the Lawro league update: Team Played Won Drawn Lost GD Points Man Utd 24 18 6 0 34 60 Chelsea 24 17 6 1 33 57 Arsenal 24 16 6 2 29 54 Liverpool 24 13 10 1 24 49 Bolton 24 10 11 3 11 41 West Ham 24 9 12 3 10 39 Portsmouth 24 9 9 6 6 36 Tottenham 24 8 11 5 6 35 Everton 24 9 8 7 3 35 Blackburn 23 7 8 8 -4 29 Wigan 24 6 9 9 -3 27 Aston Villa 24 6 7 11 -9 25 Boro 24 5 5 14 -15 20 Sheff Utd 24 4 8 12 -17 20 Charlton 24 3 10 11 -12 19 Newcastle 24 3 10 11 -14 19 Fulham 24 3 9 12 -17 18 Reading 24 2 10 12 -18 16 Man City 24 3 6 15 -19 15 Watford 23 3 6 14 -22 15 The game that was called off between Watford and Wigan, Lawro did make a prediction on hence why they have played more games in the Lawro League than in the PL. Thanks for edit in advance Bri
  6. Have updated the Excel sheet, will put it on tonight and then Bri can put it into nice straight lines.
  7. Heya General When are you back our side of the pond and what games are you coming to? Also a genuine question, what does Doug Ellis' involvement with the club since Randy took control? (i.e. What does being club president involve?) PS If you get the chance watch Beckham's first game I assure you he'll be outstanding if nothing else to merely prove a point to Real Madrid.
  8. Realistic question requiring realistic viewpoints regards signings: We're a third of the way through the window and we have signed one player (and that is a loan), anyone becoming concerned regards the lack of real transfer market activity given that all we have at present is newspaper speculation?
  9. What You Talking Bout Ian, I reckon the one in the back might have a good engine on him though!
  10. I have a friend who took his son to see Spurs train today and specifically asked with you in mind whether he saw Defoe and he said he was there as for what car he drives I couldn't tell you. I trust my friend more than I do you as he has no reason to bullshit to me
  11. You'll find he was training with the rest of the Spurs squad at their training ground in North London or has he been cloned?!
  12. When Stuart Pearce has said he has contacted Chelski regards SWP I can't agree with this comment!
  13. I'd say given we haven't been linked with SWP particularly strongly and the fact that he looks like moving soon means it won't be us buying him. MON said it was unlikely we'd have anyone before the Manure cup tie so guess Defoe was staying in a Brum hotel for a laugh
  14. SWP has very nice house in West Horsley, Surrey and took long time to choose it/settle and his missus loves Guildford for shopping, so think he'll be staying in London and if the rumours are to be believed will be joining West Ham.
  15. No reports that Defoe is absent from Spurs training session this morning. Odd that, anyone would think he's probably there then!
  16. Aussies appeal that SuperMont shouldn't be allowed to play as he walks on air
  17. Just a quick update on the Lawro league, unfortunately the camp one didn't make any predictions for the midweek games so these all get put as 0-0's. As a result the table looks like this: TEAM P W D L GD Pts Man Utd 16 11 5 0 20 38 Chelsea 15 10 5 0 20 35 Arsenal 15 10 4 1 20 34 Liverpool 16 7 8 1 11 29 West Ham 15 6 7 2 4 25 Portsmouth16 5 8 3 4 23 Bolton 16 4 10 2 3 22 Everton 16 5 7 4 2 22 AstonVilla16 5 6 5 -1 21 Tottenham 15 4 7 4 0 19 Blackburn 14 4 5 5 -5 17 Wigan 14 3 7 4 2 16 Man City 16 3 6 7 -7 15 Charlton 15 2 7 6 -6 13 Newcastle 14 2 6 6 -7 12 Sheff Utd 16 2 6 8 -11 12 Watford 15 2 5 8 -11 11 Reading 15 2 4 9 -12 10 Boro 15 2 4 9 -13 10 Fulham 16 1 6 9 -13 9
  18. Can't actually bring myself to vote for either! Guess if a gun was put to my head I'd go for Man U on basis that Rooney is English and an amazing talent but in truth couldn't really give 2 hoots as to who wins it!
  19. Bent to make defences have to play deep and therefore Angel to thrive in the gap between defence and midfield a la the Rooney & Saha combinatin at Man U. Don't see it happening though as just yesterday I read on teletext that Charlton had ruled out any possibility of selling Bent and when you're in the mire and unproven as a manager thebest step isn't really to sell a 15-20 goal a season striker!
  20. I went to uni having always planned to do so. I settled quickly and fell in with a good bunch of mates who I still speak to regularly having finished 3 years ago and are always useful contacts around the country should I need to stay anywhere. I did a BA in Accounting & Finance and have exemptions up to the final 5 papers of ACCA so accountancy doesn't necessarily have to be gone into straight from school. However I do have the 12k debt to prove it (albeit you pay it back as a tax rather than the way you would with a conventional loan) In truth it is a difficult decision and you'll only know when you get there and have been there for half a year if you'll like it. I loved it and would recommend to everyone to go but also realise my viewpoint is biased due to the fun I had and friends I made, some people back home talk of their flatmates as absolute words removed! Hope this opinion helped and have tried not to be overly biased one way or the other to assist you. Keep up the good academic work because I'm sure that as long as you work hard at uni or not you'll be successful!
  21. Is what jas is trying to link to I believe, went through This Link then clciked Premiership and then Aston Villa
  22. Hey General, Being as VT users are often distinguishable by their taste in music what bands/artists do you listen to? What made you join the army? Non footballing questions I know but figured I'd take the time to get to know the board as people rather than merely footballing/businessmen
  23. Two good articles in one day can someone check the IP address Malc has logged in on as it can't be the usual one :winkold: Hoping the noise from the fans justifies the Lerner expense and we play well, a result given Moaninho's record with Chelsea at the Bridge would be a massive bonus!
  24. Hey General, Couple of general questions: How and when did you first meet Randy? What does the average day as Aston Villa Director involve? Up The Villa
  25. The squad IMO is not good enough for European qualification this season (FWIW I believe we'll finish 10th this season due to a lack of squad depth). Malc says it almost was a while back, but things and times have moved on since then, with the sides Malc says can't spend as much money as we can, having spent heavily (most notably Spurs!) We are now behind these sides and having to play catch up, I doubt all this catching up will be possible in January as any purchased players take time to settle (even world-class ones eh Mr Shevchenko) and as such it is too bigger ask for a European finish with players who haven't settled in. We have to be patient to the tune of one year minimum to recover the damage Ellis & DOL have done to the squad. To build a unit of players to challenge for titles and attract quality players takes time and not even Malc can be naive enough not to realise this. Hence for me this article is merely to provoke and with a Director reading the site nowadays it doesn't take a genius to work out who it aims to provoke or have I just failed my latest efforts at understanding Malcolmology?
