I just think that 10m pounds on one player will be too much for us. Hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it.

My view is fairly simple on this. I would not be as quick or as definite as some on here at saying this is not going to happen, it is over etc. I think there is some mileage in it and I am not prepared to write it off just yet. Does that mean it will definitely happen? No and I cant say that just yet. But it also means that saying it definitely wont happen is also not possible. From my observation of evens i'm still sticking to my opinion that we could see this lad sign for us in this summer's business. What is your reasoning for that this could happen? Don't you think 10m pounds or there about is a bit much given what Lambert said about big money signings? Don't want to sound too aggressive, just genuinely curious

Exciting times ahead. We all know last season was at times unbearable but I think the terrible times (at one point I think few had much faith in his policy) will be justifiable in the end. He stuck to his guns and he's continuing to do so with his policy. He has got my faith at least for the foreseeable future. I like the way we are going. Bring on players like Okore, Tonev, Helenius, Murphy etc. This is the new Villa. Hunger and the willingness to do better.

What the **** is going on in this game? Denmark losing 3-0 at home to Armenia!? Anyone watching Okore?

La Paillade president Louis Nicollin said last week Villa had made an offer for the 23-year-old and the midfielder went as far as issuing a ‘come and get me’ plea. Nicollin claimed Villa, both Milan clubs and Galatasaray all wanted Belhanda but the Express & Star understands the £12million-rated playmaker was never discussed by the claret and blues. Can't say I'm surprised, never believed the story.

I'd be extremely surprised if we are in for him given his status and value.

btw this article comes across as a bitter player not getting a new contract Not at all. He says that he's a very good coach on the training ground. He might not be the best defender around but from that interview Bramble seems rather down to earth.

Off topic but the Icelandic league is very poor of course. The youth setup here is very good with all the indoor football pitches around the country coming up in the past decade. But if you are a good player you are usually gone to other teams in Scandinavia or Europe before you are 20 years old. I would agree that the Danish league is the best with Sweden second and Norway third. The difference isn't that great though IMO.

I'm not 100% convinced on that Mike. I know what you mean about usual suspects but I do think there maybe one or two names that we will have at least heard of! For example I would have thought Shawcross would have been a very reasonable shout. Not saying I know we are in for him before anyone jumps on me, just using his name as an example of maybe names we could have heard of and that players we maybe after might not be totally unknown Surely someone like Shawcross would demand way too high wages for us? I'd take a guess that he's on about 30-40K at Stoke and he'd probably want around 50K if he were to move and that doesn't seem to be the way we are going (I realise you only used him as an example).

Yes because a transfer window without any big money signing is a window with poor signing, Con. Not quite. I dread it if Lambert will sign another Westwood or Lowton or god forbid Benteke.
