  1. I don't like this "hoping it's Lambert". It's destined to be someone shit now given our boards track record! Hoping it's Lambert though
  2. Lerner normally flys back to US Fridays & comes back to the UK Tuesdays... I wouldn't read too much into that. A VT poster who will remain nameless also heard some crack from BMH about Moyes coming before McLeish was officially sacked. However he didn't belive it... so didn't post it.... and I don't blame him after last year. None of us know for sure... and perhaps at this juncture neither do RL & PF, until matters are concluded. Moyes is not coming to Villa. Not a chance. If he did I would question his sanity - why leave Everton for a very similar club like Villa? He will only leave Everton for a bigger club.
  3. It's weird with Rodgers because he's just signed Sigurðsson. The reason Sigurðsson joined Swansea in the first place was because of Rodgers so I think he must have given him some sort of promise that he would be staying at the club. Therefore I don't see Rodgers to Liverpool happening (even though it would be a huge step up for him).
  4. Friedel is the better keeper for me. Given is an excellent shot stopper but he's very weak on crosses. Friedel, along with van der Sar, are probably the best keepers I've seen in the Premier League since I started following it (around '96).
  5. Maradona would be great just for the insanity of it and laughs but I'd rather he'd go to another club in the league where we could laugh at him and enjoy him. He's one you would want to manage Villa in your head but in reality it would be fun for the first month and then we'd just go insane.
  6. Ridiculous to close that thread, he's hardly gonna say he wants to when he hasn't even got an offer.
  7. So we can get our hopes up and then have them crushed
  8. apparently OGS looks like he has a gun aimed at his head at he press conference. I think he was our number one target
  9. Solskjær saying he made up his morning yesterday morning and he rang Rokke to say that he would be staying. Sited family reasons. I'm waiting to see if he was in fact offered the job or not.
  10. Press conference now with Solskjær and Rokke, be interesting to see if he was offered the job or not.
  11. Gaurdiola is taking a break from football. Have you seen him lately, he needs it! Plus there are bigger clubs than us that he will join eventually.
  12. Yeah AVB would be great I think. Randy must have tried at least to get him.
  13. The only way that this doesn't come out as a **** up by Lerner and Faulkner is if there is somebody exciting already lined up - probably from outside the UK because I don't think we will find anyone good there who wants to come. I'm basing this on the assumption that he wasn't offered the job which most say is the case. Solskjær would have been a risk but the potential of something exciting happening with him was always there. He would also have brought some long awaited good feeling and optimism to the club along with uniting a tired and frustrated fan base.
  14. Those papers are using Tidenes Krav (tk.no) as source but reading their article it specifically says the when confronted about turning the job down he avoided the question and said "Let's talk tomorrow". They also asked the Molde FK Board Chairman and he would not answer. That's cleared up then. I would still be interested to hear what Gazton says tomorrow.
  15. I don't know about Klinsmann. He's done well with national teams (not hard with Germany!) but his only club stint at Bayern wasn't that good. National teams and club teams are two totally different things, being a good manager at international level doesn't mean you'll cut it at club level. Not convinced but I'd take him over Martinez at least.
  16. At least some papers where saying that he had confirmed it to them but they didn't provide any quotes. Just said that he had confirmed that he said no.
  17. Gazton: Solskjær himself has confirmed to the media that he said no to Villa. Will talk to press tomorrow. (Source: Norwegian media) Care to elaborate on why you still thought he would come after the news about the rejection broke?
  18. That's seems as plausible as anything. For me it's either that or someone else has got the job. I don't believe he rejected it given what has been said and the lack of quotes from him is weird. Probably Lambert but hopefully someone good out of the blue. Just trying to be positive!
  19. Kendrick wouldn't post something like that if he didn't have Villa's approval and concrete info. The only weird thing is the no comment from Solskjær himself.
  20. Is this based on a gut feeling or something like that? Why are you doing this? It's over.
  21. No to Martinez, agree with what someone said here the other day - he seems OK with losing as long as they play the right way. I would be satisfied with Lambert but I would prefer Brendan Rodgers but I think he won't leave Swansea. I can't think of any other names (good ones) that would consider managing us. Still deflated.
