  1. Yeah you are repeating yourself, and it's still nonsense. Thanks for your telling insight. Luckily I can remember when Villa defenders were lauded for, well, being defenders.....not just better than 2 youngish players we have, who are out of their depth. Or for 60 good minutes in a World Cup group game. Throw yourselves at the feet of King Ron if you like, but I'll venture 2 things......he won't be making Team of the Tournament nor will he leave ( if in the unlikely event he does leave ) for a top 6 club. You are truly edging your bets there because didn't Man United finish 7th last season?
  2. Would have been a good bet if someone had it.
  3. Suarez is clinically not right, he can't be! How can you keep biting people in a professional sport? Surely he will miss at least 3 games for that? Hopefully, that will be the last we see of the cheating little toe-rag for this world cup. England are simply awful to watch and will be for a very long time IMO.
  4. AVFC FOREVER, of course we would benefit from them, just as they would probably learn something from us. I'm saying that there's too many and not just at starting level.
  5. Probably because he's joined a team that usually gets overrun?
  6. I don't want to get into this argument (another thread) but too many foreigners argument is laughable. 1. English Premier League IS the best league in the world 2. Every one of English internationals is a starter at their club 3. That's right, because mr Chi or mr Kowalski are better than Smith and Murphy we should just get rid of them. I am sure that this will improve Smith and Murphy (because a lack of competition is very healthy for development isnt it). rubbish. I'd say take away the private chopper away from Barkley before he gets rotten as well... Correct. I started the thread about this and I stand by it. The argument that too many foreigners in the league is hurting the national team is, imo, nonsense. It's a go to excuse but there's no evidence for it at all. If anything, it's beneficial. Beneficial to who? The foreign players are benefitting and so are the clubs who sign them. But, the national side is weaker than I can ever remember and IMO that is partly due to the number of foreign players in our country. I'm not just talking about foreign players who start for their clubs. I'm talking about those who are a lot younger and taking academy places that young English kids could have, as well. With the stated shortage of English coaches, probably because of the cost for the badges, maybe we should bring some foreign coaches into the country. Maybe we can stay politically correct then!
  7. I'll go for the spring of 2015 as the time we get bought out.
  8. There are many reasons why England are no good. Too many foreign players in our top leagues, not enough quality in our players or coaching staff, lack of strength in depth, our best players are past their best etc. Also, look at how many of the best players from the top countries play outside of their own leagues. All of our players, last night, play in our own league. How many Uruguayans play in their own country? Overall, we just aren't good enough. I don't think I will ever see England win anything in my lifetime and I'm 42 now.
  9. I think that United will be looking for more than just two defenders to replace Ferdinand and Vidic. The other defenders they have are poor and they would probably look to replace one or two of them too. Put yourself in Vlaar's shoes, regardless of how the rest of the World Cup goes for him and Holland. You can go to a club that's one of the top teams in the world, play alongside fella countrymen and for your national manager and maybe get a nice contract that pay good bonuses and a salary of around £50,000+ per week. Or, he can stay at a club that fights relegation season after season with an owner who clearly wants out and, surrounded by very average players. He may be on £30,000 per week salary with an improved offer of £45,000 in the pipeline, who knows? He's at the age where he probably has just one more move remaining in him and I can't see him staying faithful to Villa if he was given the chance to join United or, any other top club for that matter. I certainly wouldn't blame him for moving on either, as the future of Villa is completely in the lap of the Gods.
  10. Maybe he was just checking out the comparison between the stadia to see how we square up against a modern day footballing superpower?
  11. I read somewhere earlier that Liverpool are looking at making Borini's time at Sunderland permanent, in a part exchange to get Adam Johnson in return.
  12. Poor fella has gone from playing for the chuckle brothers (two Pauls) at Villa, to playing in front of the Chuckle Brothers at Rotherham. Good luck for the future son, just don't go scoring the winner against us in any early rounds of the cups!
  13. What worries me is that potential buyers seem to be waiting for the price to drop by 20-30 million. I mean, if you are that rich, surely 20-30 million is like small change? I can't help but feel we will experience deja vu and will get some rich American buying us, promising us all this and that, only to jack it all in after 5 or 6 years of not being able to break the top four.
  14. Points dropped when he isn't playing say otherwise He's only one of a few at our club who are leadership material When he's injured we notice his absence bear in mind he had one of the chuckle brothers along side him for most of last season Vlaar is important to us but, only because of how far we've fallen. He looks better than he actually is and if we had our side from say 5 or 6 years ago Vlaar would look useless. However, we are currently witnessing one of the worst Villa squads ever and it's making Vlaar look good. I can't see a takeover happening any time soon. I just don't think we're an attractive enough proposition for a potential buyer and I think Lerner needs to take stock of the situation because we will be even less attractive if the inevitable happens and we eventually go down. May not be this season but it will catch up with us if we keep flirting with it. To spend the amounts of money Lerner has decided to spend is really taking the piss out of the league. If you get in the ring with the big boys you've got to show them some respect if you're going to stay there. Lerner is showing disrespect to both the club and the League - and the fans also!
  15. Like most others have said, it's a potential signing that has come at least 5 years too late. Also, it shows where we are at as a club and I think that's what bothers people the most. The positives are that we will at least add some talent around the younger players. Lambert's also looking at players who have played at the highest level and you'd think that they would be able to advise the players as well.
  16. That away kit is awesome! Loving the home shirt as well. When is the home shirt on sale?
  17. Wouldn't want Ferdinand here either. Would much prefer a Lescott or Williams.
  18. More curry sauce on my chips at half time?
  19. My theory is that he is going to be an interpreter for Lambert!
  20. Seeing the pics of me as a baby with Villa Park (pics taken from Aston park) in the background. My parents were smart to do that! From a team performance side, winning the League Cup when we beat Man United and stopped them from winning the treble.
  21. It's not bad but why do Macron make shirts with stupid collars?
  22. Maybe he just did? A free gift for purchasing a return flight with Lufthansa?
  23. Does anyone think that Lerner might float us on the stock market if he can't find an outright buyer after so long? After all, he bought us through a share buyout.
  24. I can, if the rumours are true that Lambert leaves the coaches to do it all.
  25. I've been thinking about our squad and the fact we've sacked two main coaches. Maybe, just maybe, Karsa and Culverhouse have done us a favour. Who knows, two new coaches coming in might just make a huge difference to the players and how we play. We MIGHT see a different team next season, with some luck.
