  1. I "Liked" this just so that Lambert wasn't the only person in this thread getting the sympathy vote.
  2. Yeah, whatever you did after that would impale into insignificance. Are we back on the fish puns? Nah, I doubt anyone will take the bait!
  3. The big difference is that Cleveland Browns could never get relegated. I know but changing manager may have given fans hope of seeing winning football? Oh you mean like at SHA, Palace and Albion. Errr, yeah! Ask Santa for a new sarcasm detector (you will have to wait a while of course). Yes. It happened when you and pacbuddies became besties. The World just hasn't been right since Eventually everyone comes over to the dark side (except Richard perhaps). I understood you PB! I got the sarcasm and was just agreeing with you.
  4. or he'll be praised for getting three points and we'll all hope it is the start of some winning games for us? or alternatively of course people could say it was a one off and nothing more than we should expect anyway and if we win 2-0 why couldnt it have been 3-0 and how it was nothing he did anyway etc etc etc Richard, he has lost a lot of support from the fans, the majority to be fair but, if he got us playing winning football, maybe not even winning football but football whereby we look competitive and score goals, I am sure the fans would be a lot happier and the amount of negative posts would drastically lessen. I don't care about who manages Villa as long as they can get the very best out of our squad of players and, unfortunately, Lambert is not doing that!

  6. Here's an idea for you Paul, maybe not to be used for the Arsenal or Chelsea games but certainly for Hull. Why not try to play 4 - yes Paul 4 attacking players in either a 4-3-3 system with Gil behind Benteke OR a 4-4-2 formation with Gil on one wing and Grealish....sorry, you're sending him on loan to benefit someone else so maybe Gabby or N'Zogbia on the other wing. In each formation you can keep Sanchez in the anchor role to protect your improved defensive look and still find a way to fit in either Delph or Westwood - sorry Paul but Cleverly is NOT an improvement on anything that we already have so shouldn't be given game time in advance of any of our own players unless he starts to show a big improvement. I know that looks scary but at least you might give the fans something to cheer when we score at least one goal!
  7. 5 head coaches since 2008 In a sport without relegation? Seems like he wanted to see improvement. Why can't he do the same for us then?

  9. I think it is a poor decision to send this lad out on loan. Why on earth can't we play with 4 attackers in the team? By that I mean, 4-3-3 with Delph & Sanchez holding, Gil as attacking midfielder behind Benteke and then Grealish and one of Gabby, Weimann or N'Zogbia as the other 2 players in the front 3. Or, 4-4-2 with Grealish and Gil on the wings, Delph & Sanchez in centre midfield with Benteke up front with either gabby or Weimann? Why do we need to only have two attacking players in our starting 11 like last Saturday? No wonder we aren't ******* scoring goals!
  10. Do many others get the feeling that we could be in the bottom 3 with anything from 1 to 14 games remaining and Lerner still wouldn't make a change to the manager's position? I get the feeling that Lerner would simply stand by and let us drop whilst keeping his blind hope that Lambert would turn it around. Does anyone know how regularly he changed managers when the Cleveland Browns were finishing bottom season after season?
  11. Rich, purely because I can't be arsed to read through pages of posts to find the answer, why is it that you support Lambert so much? Not having a go, just trying to understand your reasoning behind your support of him.
  12. Our defence is not much better in terms of goals conceded than it was at this point last season. We've shipped 25 goals this season, after 22 games last season we had shipped 29 goals from the first 22 games. However, goals for is a lot different. We had scored 22 goals at this point last season, compared to 11 this season. In terms of points there's not much difference as we only had 24 points after 22 games last season, 2 more than this season. However, we were 6 points above the bottom 3 at this time last season. This time around we are only 3 points above. The final gap between us and the bottom 3 last season was 5 points, meaning we lost 1 point of our advantage that we had at the 22 game point. A similar return in this season's last 16 games would put us right down there in the midst of the teams in the dogfight and considering our final game is against Burnley it could be a battle of the Claret & Blues on the final day to see who goes down and who stays up. Our last 4 away games are: Man Utd, Spurs, Man City & Southampton. Our last 4 home games are: QPR, Everton, West Ham & Burnley. How many points do you think Lambert could get this team to take out of those last 8 fixtures?
  13. Randy, if you see this please bear this in mind: Whenever Villa have been relegated in their history, there's always been a Scottish manager in charge. The last four seasons have seen us battle against relegation and each time there's been a Scotsman in charge. I think that says it all so can you please spare us any further torture.
  14. Whether goals come or not, whether his cheap purchases sell for a profit, whether he's been denied funds, nothing matters but the statistics that we have only scored 11 league goals this season and have only 12 points from the last 52 available. Our football is mostly poor and Lambert does not appear to have a clue as to how to turn it around. It doesn't matter who we all have as our first choice to replace him, any of us could get that team of players scoring goals and playing more enjoyable football. Those players aren't as bad as he's getting them them to look. Without any doubts at all, it is time for Lerner to show some balls and sack him before he finds himself advertising a Championship football club. If by some miracle it isn't this season we go down, the inevitable will happen soon.
  15. Could we not just fire arrows at the players?
  16. MarkAVFC40's post sums it up for me. If we continue to win 1 in every 4.something games we are heading for a final total of around 37 points at best.
  17. Yes he was poor in the opposing third but he's much better than this. I recall seeing him putting in a late challenge on their attacker in our own penalty area. For me, he will play better for a better manager - no doubt!
  18. You know, Villa players should read your last post and absorb the frustration within it. If only only they could understand the pain it feels to be a Villa fan right now!
  19. Fair play mate, nobody can argue with that! Just for the record, what's our lowest ever league goals for tally?
  20. Not meaning to seem arsey OBE but what does this say different to other posts regarding the same problem? We lack a goal threat but look relatively solid in defence. The final table will show just what that means.
  21. Paul is doing us a favour. He has seen the stuff about protests and agrees we have nothing to protest about and so he's giving us something ! Maybe Lambert feels guilty about what the fans have to suffer watching and decided to put us all out of our misery via Huthanasia!
  22. Onesies with water bottles seems fair to me. The elderly and teetotallers can have hot water to keep them warm, the drinkers can have bottles full of booze.
