  1. Just about sums it up! In most other professions, stats equivalent to those would invariably result in the sacking of the man in charge.
  2. I've had enough and done with this regime. Sorry but tonight was the final straw for me. Don't get me wrong, we started the game well enough. But, once we go a goal down and yes, I am going to blame Clark, we never looked like pulling ourselves back into it. Did anyone notice that, although Vlaar didn't stop Austin scoring his second, he was covering a player and position that Clark was previously occupying. Surely a half fit Senderos or Okore would be a better choice than the unreliable Clark? Then, where's the spirit and willingness to get back in to it? For me, Lambert has to go. He's had enough chances and the injury situations have no bearing any more. He's got a more experienced squad this time around and it's bigger too. Losing in such a tame fashion to the worst team in the league says it all for me. Time to find a new manager to try to lift us out of this mire.
  3. His nationality has got **** all to do with it - naivety doesn't adhere to national boundaries. Naivety doesn't, you're right! I was referring to the way Americans are big on hospitality and the way Lerner has done the place up. I'd rather he'd concentrated on us trying to win football matches than tart up the stadium.
  4. Looking at tables this early doesnt tell you much. We should look at this around Christmas. My concern is we have not got above 50% in matches because tactically we are not set up to. You cant give a quality side or any side these days in the Premier League 60% of the ball and except to keep a clean sheet. We did it a few times early and he stuck with it which is fair enough but you cant go all season winning 1-0. Senderos may return for QPR. I am curious to see if we are more 'adventurous' especially with our first choice back 4 available again. People wouldn't be saying that if we were currently sat in the bottom three though would they. I don't disagree re the possession and I agree the table can be misleading until Christmas. But the reason that it can be is because sides have had unbalanced fixtures yet some refuse to accept that perfectly reasonable point and prefer to dismiss it as an excuse. It isn't an excuse it is a fact and one that should also be taken into account with regards the possession stats but often isn't. I'm not saying things are perfect, or even particularly good but they also aren't as bad as some wish to suggest. I was just trying to provide a bit of balance because it's so frequently missing from this thread on both sides of the debate. I agree with you that the fixtures so far have been imbalanced due to the fact 5 of the 8 games have been against last season's top 5 clubs. However, the stats point is valid based on the following: Stoke (a) 36.9% possession / 1 shot on target. Newcastle (h) 40.4% possession / 0 shots on target. Hull (h) 44.9% possession / 4 shots on target. That's an average of 40.73% possession against 3 of the league's weaker sides and, two of those fixtures were played at home. Also, it's noticeable that the game in which we had most possession we also created the most chances. It's also arguable that to only have a total of 5 shots on target in those 3 games is also simply not good enough.
  5. I hope popcorn is a new brand of beer cos I'm going to need alcohol to watch that game!
  6. It wouldn't surprise me if the QPR turns out to be some sort of hard luck story. But, the next two fixtures will be straight forward defeats IMO.
  7. To create chances you need to have the ball?
  8. The possession stat is a worrying one. OK, so we've won games when had less than 30% possession but, more often than not, you'll lose with such a low amount of the ball. I'd like to see us play a straight 442 and Weimann a run as a strike partner to Benteke. Play Gabby wide left and N'Zogbia wide right, with a centre two of Cleverly and Westwood. The back four should be the normal full backs plus the best two centre backs available at the time. Let's try and get some crosses into the box for the big man to either attack or knock down for Weimann.
  9. I have this vision of us playing well at QPR and going down by a goal that's controversial - offside or a foul in the build-up etc. Just enough for the pro Lambert folk to defend him. I personally hope he changes the line up. Richardson and N'Zogbia would be none-starters, for me. Maybe throw in Weimann to play wide right of the front 3 and put Sanchez in midfield because their midfield duo of Henry and Sandro will have Westwood and Cleverly on toast.
  10. Think I said 5 points and we were short of that, so yeah not happy.
  11. I think Lerner's problem is - without being racist so no arsey comments please - his nationality. He seems to have thought that the match day experience thing is key to someone enjoying football. It is if the match day involves not seeing your team lose! I'd rather look at shitty walls and see winning footie than have fancy decoration and see my team played off the park.
  12. I guess this will get divided opinion but, would anyone prefer us to take a chance on Moyes right now, before some other Premier League club wields the axe and gets him in?
  13. Same here mate. I know we were playing tough opposition and that should be taken into account, but Everton were hardly "on it" today. They didn't need to be. Where was the verve and the fight we saw early on this season? No matter who the players, no matter who the staff around him, whether home or away, he seemingly CANNOT pull consistent performances from his team. It's so frustrating and so painful to watch at times. Tell you where it was Doug, it's gone! It's OK people saying that we were expected to lose those last 3 games but, when you get beaten soundly, without looking like any kind of threat, it must have knocked the players confidence. It'll take another win before those lads get any confidence back and unless it comes against QPR I can't see us doing anything in the following 2 games either.
  14. Baker's got stuck in. It's a shame he's gone off. Let's hope Clark has a better game than most would expect from him.
  15. Gotta agree with the sentiments about Richardson. I've not seen anything this season to suggest he should be starting games.
  16. There's three mates working on a building site - one English, one Scottish and one Irish. They all sit down to eat their lunches: "Oh no, not Ham again" says Tom, the Englishman. "I told the missus I'm sick of having Ham sarnies every day. If I get Ham again tomorrow, I'm jumping off this roof". Jock opens his lunchbox and says "bollocks man, I've got corned beef again. I've had enough of that stuff to last me a lifetime. If I get it again tomorrow I'm off this roof as well, pal". Paddy opens his lunchbox and pulls out his sarnies. "not cheese again. I'm fecking sick of cheese. If I get cheese again tomorrow, I'm off the roof too lads". The next day the lads sit down together for lunch. Tom opens his sarnies "**** sake. Ham again! That's it lads, I've had enough. It's been a pleasure knowing you" and jumps off the roof to his death. Jock looks nervously at Paddy and opens his lunchbox. "I can ne believe it. Corned beef again. That's it Paddy, nice working with ye son" and Jock jumps off the roof. Paddy's shitting himself as he opens his lunchbox. "oh feck, it's cheese! I promised the boys I'd do it so here goes" and Paddy jumps too. A week later and the three builders are all buried. Later on, at their wakes, the three wives are sat together. "I'm devastated. I really thought he loved Ham. He always brought an empty lunchbox home" says Tom's wife. "I can ne believe it either. I thought Jock liked his sarnies, otherwise I'd have made him something else" says Jock's widow. Jock's wife turns to Paddy's missus and asks if she wished she had done something different. Paddy's wife replies: "Yeah, I wish I never let him make his own fecking lunch".
  17. Was talking with a regular in my local yesterday and he claims to know Jack through his family. Told me how much he's going to on at the Villa and it surprised me considering our financial situation. They must really value this kid.
  18. So funking true! If they were Villa fans they would be mob-handled.
  19. If we're all so acceptable of losing against the so-called top teams, why play our very best players? We did well to hold out for so long but, we really need to learn to keep hold of the ball. If we've got it, they can't score - simples.
  20. That would make the home games a whole lot more interesting if the Prince Of Darkness himself owned us. Who knows, he might even put some bite into our attack!
  21. What Lambert was actually suggesting was "You're 78 minutes too late, Jose." It's no good Lambert being narked by Mourinho's cockiness when his own team showed no will to even try to get in the game.
  22. Roy Keane supplies hair to the Bigfoot species and is also the only thing on earth that actually scares a Bigfoot.
