  1. I've always thought of Inler as a decent player. Can stick his foot in and play simply passes to keep possession, a better version of an NRC or modern day Sanchez. Unlucky at Leicester as no one expected their first 11 to be this amazing, I'd be happy with him on loan. Edit: I'm reasonably confident we'll end the transfer window with a significantly better 11 than we have now with the contacts Garde has. The big problem though is how far adrift we'll be at the end of January and how monumental the task will be. We simply need to win a game or two with this current mob to give us half a chance for the final 15 or so games.
  2. He'll go to Palace if they're serious interested. They lack a quality striker and he played with Pardew at Newcastle. They can also cancel the Bamford loan. I think we have little chance.
  3. How long does he have left on his contract out of interest? I did baulk at 6-7m. Ultimately the club has been burnt so many times having to write off transfer fees and it will be difficult to see us recouping much of that if he stays here for a season or two. Byram sounds a sensible move though, he's been linked before hasn't he? We have to be realistic of our situation so being players who have experience of that division isn't the worst move, he's a good player aswell.
  4. Think LVG will get the Stoke and Chelsea games and then be sacked after that as United will get a point at best the way they're playing. Mourinho's first home game against Chelsea would be completely mental, it won't happen.
  5. Think it applied to foreign clubs and not English ones aswell.
  6. Basically Koscienly is greatest of all time....not sure what the stadium move has to do with defending although it might be more linked to finance. It is a genuine point you make though Zatman as it was only in 13/14 Arsenal were losing 6-3 at Man. City, 6-0 at Chelsea and 5-1 at Liverpool and I believe all 3 had GOATing Kos in the team.
  7. Well it's their best chance for a long while. No one could've forseen Chelsea falling off a cliff, they'll be back up there next season. Liverpool or Spurs won't seriously challenge and Man. United are in turmoil and will probably have an open top parade with us if they win a game over xmas. If they get Mourinho in they'll probably win the league next season. I think Arsenal will rest easy at night if they have to chase Leicester for rest of the season. Having seen Man. City a few times now IMO they won't win the league if Kompany misses more games in the second half of the season, they just concede so many chances without him, teams are running through the middle. And an interesting thing could be a serious run in the CL, they're usually out by March so that could mess up a few of their league games. This is the strongest Arsenal squad for a long while, when key players get injured Ozil and Ramsey step up, it's their time imo.
  8. Don't think Swansea are that keen on Bielsa after interviewing him, they don't think he has any intention of learning English (or Welsh). Pretty sure at Marseille he just did all the team talks in Spanish.
  9. Well looking at the other major leagues and Verona have 8 points, Levante or whoever is bottom in Spain has 10 points, think Troyes has more points than us so yes of the major euro leagues I don't think there's a team with fewer points bottom of their league than us.
  10. Walters signed a new deal at Stoke last month and is happy there so not sure where that link has come from. He'll comfortably make the R.O.I squad so doubt that's an issue. I would take Naismith but didn't realise he was nearly 30. And also thought 3-4m would do the trick not 7m. I wouldn't want us paying that tbh.
  11. Some of the time yes but he wasn't even making the bench and certainly some of the games like Swansea at home we could've done with him as I think he's a decent impact sub, just not a starter.
  12. It was a valid criticism when Sherwood was here as he hardly played but he's started what 3 out of Remi's 6 games. It's hardly an Adama warming the bench scenario.
  13. I've watched a lot of Marseille this season and last (they're the ideal team for my betting formulas) and I have to say Mandanda is a fantastic keeper. I'm not as harsh on Guzan as most on this forum but Mandanda would certainly be an upgrade.
  14. He did little in the Everton and Watford games people, I have no issue with him out of the side atm.
  15. That was a good game I thought, really if Arsenal can't win the league this season Wenger should offer his resignation. Another game where they desperately need a new striker I see....
  16. When I saw Deeney played at Watford....he actually reminded me of Gabby in a lot of ways. Not the most technically gifted but would work hard for the team and could finish. This is the Gabby of 2006-10 I'm talking about. Walsall were actually playing him wide right a lot of the time but moved him upfront start of one season and he scored 15 goals and got his move to Watford.
  17. West Ham didn't offer much going forward today but they didn't let Swansea create much either so it will be a trouble to see us scoring more than 1 here I think. Also worried that a midfield of Song-Kouyate with Antonio who's massive aswell out wide will be too much for our powerpuff trio in the middle. Collins was excellent today and he'd want to play against Gestede so that's an issue there as much as Rudy probably deserves to start after his cameo. Still they are missing Reid, Moses, Sakho, Payet and probably Lanzini who are all first choice players so there are worse times to face them this season. John you are right this is the sort of opposition we usually beat in seasons we stay up. Beating them 2-1 in Lambert's first season started the momentum to keep us up and last season was the game that kept us up so another nail in our coffin if we don't beat them. It does point to a draw really, two low scoring teams.
  18. Be interesting to see how he approaches West Ham. Obviously we need a win but they showed today they've very difficult to break down. They played a very physically strong midfield of Antonio, Song and Kouyate, think Veretout will struggle against that and they could nick one from a set piece. Logic would suggest Gestede has played himself back into the starting 11 but that's surely what James Collins wants. I would suggest Grealish and Traore with pace and trickery would trouble the West Ham back 4 a little bit more. We'll be playing a West Ham team without Sakho, Payet, Victor Moses, Winston Reid and possibly Lanzini, that's 5 key first choice players out for them. Yet it shows how well they've built their squad that what they put out today didn't look that bad an 11. A reserve forward like Jelavic has scored a few past us in the last 3 years. Tricky but we need to win Remi, a quick start for once would be good.
  19. Would imagine the various management teams we have are concluding his body simply isn't up to premier league football and the intensity it has particularly with the injuries he keeps on picking up in training after two serious ones hence he dosen't get a sniff. Think he needs a fresh start somewhere else, he'll make a good career lower down no doubt.
  20. Diame from Hull anyone? Surprised no one picked him up in the summer which suggests he must be on a very decent wage there given Hull tempted him from London. Always rated him anyway, was injured for second half of last season which was a factor in Hull going down.
  21. I don't think we'd be that much higher in the league tbh, still serious weaknesses at both ends of our team even though we did play well for 70 minutes that day. Think we'd be on 17-18 points just outside the bottom 3 and Sherwood clinging to his job which is still preferable to what we have now obviously.
  22. Now Watford are pratically safe send them Garde to grind out draws for the second half of the season and let's see Quique work some magic in the second half for us.... Or Lerner will have a case of mistaken identity and hire Phil Brown instead....
  23. Wagner scored today so it's 4 goals in god knows how many appearances now.
