The problem with international football is England will come up against shit teams for ages and the first good team they face they get KO'd. So no matter what team he puts out he can't do much wrong, this Scotland side is made up of half Championship level players, it's not hard to beat them it should be about performances.

The entire attack was dreadful, they barely troubled a defence/keeper that is made up of 2 players out the Croatian league, 1 out the Turkish league and another is backup to Trippier at At Madrid.

He was average at best, the entire team performance was below par for what is suppose to be one of the favourites to win it.

Of course they will, its a disgrace he's not picked. I'm not sure what he has to do to get in ahead of Sterling who has been absolutely shocking all season.

Why does that impact selection? Tammy Abraham just won the CL but we aren't going to stick him ahead of Kane.

I don't care what he has or hasn't done for England, he's the best creator in that team and it's not even close, he's only behind KDB in the Premier League. In what world does a player who will cost 100m not start for their national team? Southgate just doesn't want to play attacking, risk taking football. He loves 3 at the back (zzzz), relies on counter attacks and set plays, in the last World Cup England scored 12 goals, only 3 of these were from open play.

They should go for Potter, it would mean I win my bet but I also think he's a great choice. If we get off to a bad start next season I think Smith could be in trouble and if I had to pick a replacement it would be Potter.

Think we need to update his chant though, comparing him to Aaron Lennon and Shaun Wright Phillips is a bit insulting now.

Not sure if there's a direct comparison going on between Elmo and Young here. However, Young just won Serie A and played CL football, Elmo got dropped and Smith thought it was better to stick Konsa at RB than use him.

I'm actually baffled that people don't understand this transfer. 90% of our signings are going to be under 25s with resale value but it doesn't mean we shut the door to opportunities like this. We get experience, squad depth, cover at multiple positions and an improvement on what we had before, all for no fee and just wages. He will get a decent chunk of games with the injuries/suspensions we are likely to pick up. We don't have European football, we aren't in a position to go spend 10-12m on specialist RB and LB as a backup to our current starters, this a great short term solution for 1-2 years. He's clearly in decent condition having just played 30 odd games for the Italian title winners.
