    Been banging the Geetruida drum for a while too. Captains Feyenoord so another leader if we got him. Don’t think he’d be cheap though.

    Rodriquez at Real Betis or Vermeeren at Royal Antwerp for me for Kamara comp/cover. Guido Rodriquez is in the last year of his contract so wouldn’t be a huge fee and Vermeeren has a £13m-£17m release clause.

    I quite like Gimenez at Feyenoord but he’s a bit of a poacher so not sure he’d be the right fit. Boniface at Leverkusen looks a prospect too but again not sure he’d come in to play second fiddle.

    With a striker being on some people’s wish lists in January thought I’d throw some names out there as possibilities. Borja Iglesias (Real Betis) - not getting much game time but has a decent strike rate. Luke De Jong (PSV) - 33 but still prolific, Paulinho (Sporting) - limited game time at Sporting. Vangelis Pavlidis (AZ Alkmaar) - looked decent against us and scores regularly.

    Also couldn’t the 150 be incorporated into Aston so we could then have our full name but have the 150 a slightly different tone so stands out a bit.

    I have to admit I’m a bit nervous about the Dougie situation as he’s only on £75k a week and really he should one of the highest paid players in the squad. Also his ‘new’ deal in 22 is only until June 2026, so only 3 years left. I therefore think if we don’t make CL this season he’ll be looking to move on next season. If we make CL I can see him signing up for longer though.

    If we were in for another LM/AM Thiago Almada would be a good one. I know he’s been mentioned a fair few times before now but he’d have crazier numbers than he currently has if his team mates could finish the chances he provides and he’s already on 11 goals and 16 assists! I know it’s the MLS but think he’d do well here. His set piece delivery and free kicks are brilliant too.

    I think Buendia is that playmaker as Emery played him loads before his injury. I think Emery likes him and could possibly explain us going for a younger No10 in Gloukh as opposed to a big money signing. Would love to see us splash the cash on a Simons or Wirtz but not sure Emery and his team agree. Think we missed a trick with Kudus though.

    I must have had the one before this as I remember mine having some lovely brown wood paneling on it. I’d be all over the PS5 if it was veneered. Sony missed a trick there.

    Just been doing some work avoidance and was going through some options for the DM and CM roles we might be looking at. DM: Guido Rodriguez is a good shout, currently on 28k and his contract expires 6/24. A younger option would be wonderkid Vermeeren but Barca and Arsenal are sniffing around him (he apparently has a £13m release clause in his contract, which is nothing really). CM: Joey Veerman at PSV is similar to Dougie, has a good long pass on him and is only on 13k at present. He wouldn’t break the bank. Koopmeiners would be an option too as his deal expires 6/25 so Atalanta might be tempted.

    I’d quite like to see a Bailey, Watkins, Diaby front three against Brentford to hit them on the break, with McGinn, Tielemans and Kamara in the middle.

    I’d love us to go for a Wirtz or Simons but that doesn’t seem to be the way Emery and Monchi work. I think we need a couple of players to give some flexibility tactically and also provide cover if needed. Forgoing the GK situation, which I think will be rectified in the Summer I think we need (worst case scenario). Versatile CM that can cover both Luiz and Kamara (I would ideally like two players for this). A right footed wide man/inside forward that can be an option on the left with Ramsey but can also cover up front if needed. A Chambers esque (but better) RB that can cover DM and CB if required. Those three would give us loads of tactical flexibility and cover with us then bringing in a new attacking RB in the summer (Frimpong perhaps) and a new GK.

    We definitely need cover for Luiz and Kamara though, whether that’s one player or two I’d make that a higher priority than any other position, even RB.

    An out and out striker for Watkins, no chance in January. A LW/LM that’s equally good up top would be a good option though and give us positional and personnel flexibility moving forward. Amine Gouiri would be my shout as his output on the left and as a striker are both equally as good. He scored 15 odd league goals last season or something.
