His stats in Belgium were unreal, something like 14 goals and 9 assists or something so there is talent there. He’d be a good option to have in a 433 alongside Luiz and Kamara pushing forward similar to Odegaard. I think he just needs the right environment to get his confidence back. He is slightly built though so needs to hit the gym a bit.

He’d be expensive, plays predominantly on the right up front but has played the SS role previously so could be a decent option for us to play with and as comp for Watkins

He’s done it on the European stage so I’d be less worried with regards to Diaby personally. Every transfer is a risk though. Personally I was disappointed we didn’t go in for Szboszlai but if the plan was to go to a a RW instead of a RM that can get forward then I’m all aboard the Diaby train, choo, choo

I thought he’d been quoted as 4141 and 433 were his favourite formations with 442 being his chosen one for an underdog team, for want of a different translation. In truth whatever one he opts for it’ll be a 271 or a 31411 in transition/out of possession

If the talk is of us moving to Emery’s favoured 4141 formation, who we having in that front 5, new and/or current? If we do go down this route would Moreno still be allowed to bomb on? If he is then I can see the left of the front four being a No10, as opposed to a winger. The right side a winger to give us some width on that side.

I would take international caps with a pinch of salt. We all know Kamara is a baller but Deschamps doesn’t pick him, same with Mings and Grealish before him with the clown Southgate. Goncalves is a good player and would fit our system but like others have said not for the €80m

Never once suggested we shouldn’t buy more CBs, cough INACIO cough, just surprised by how similar Torres and Mings are positionally and profile wise. I’d envisage us going for a younger understudy to Mings. If we’ve got the cash to splash then so be it but your post made it sound like I didn’t want to strengthen the CBL position when I do. You’ve got me bang to rights about banging on about Simons but not for McGinn, more the left hand side cutting in so alongside JJ (competing with). For McGinns side I’d like someone like Otavio or Szoboszlai or Guler to provide competition.

I don’t get this signing (if it happens). Undoubtedly a good player but we’ve just given Mings a new bumper contract and Torres plays in basically the same position as Mings. Is the plan to play Mings, Torres and Konsa with Moreno bombing on?

As for the Pau Torres links, I think it might just be lazy journalism. Good player obviously but for €65m there’s better value elsewhere.

If some of the rumours are true then could we see Goncalves, Kudus and Guler come in? That would be some skill coming in to add to the McGinn graft and Ramsey potential. Would certainly give us to more options up top and out wide.

I think Luiz is on par with Bruno and Kamara on par, if not better than Tonali but I think we’re after another DM so we can go 433 or 4231 and have a more combative middle two. If we were officially after Ugarte then a similar player would be Seiwald at Salzburg, only 21 and can get even better.

They seem to be proper going for it at the moment out there. Good if we could get rid of Coutinho and Digne perhaps, mainly to free up the wage bill a little.
