  1. Maybe we were watching a different match, but I was there too and saw Warnock give the ball away carelessly in our own half on MULTIPLE occasions. Cuellar and Dunne both had to bail him out time and time again. He is a subpar defending LB and an average attacking LB (made a great move to get to the end line only to blast the ball into the Holte End). Warnock had a BAD match. Hutton fwiw (and I'm not a fan) had his best match to date in a Villa shirt. The sending off was dumb, but his overall play was above average today. Dunne has been in beast mode over the past couple of months. Hopefully Herd is healthy and can play at RB against Stoke so that Carlos can say at CB. He played well enough to maintain his place in the side IMO. Arsenal were poor. Played two non-fullbacks at fullback and it showed. The only difference in the last 10 mins was that Arsenal could bring on two very good players to change the tide of the match and we could only bring on the Fonz. Promising match overall though and a million times better than the pathetic display vs Liverpool!
  2. Mark Sanchez threw for 2tds and ran for 2 more last weekend, bringing his season totals to: 21 TD (+5 Rushing TDS) 11 INT Sanchez is 2nd in Rushing TDS for a QB since he entered the league.
  3. Genius! Hans Van Cuellar won't be in the squad and isn't travelling to Bolton: Illness
  4. Herd at RB or not on the pitch for me. AMC was going to replace Petrov with Jenas, but that seems off now. Herd-Carlos-Dunne-Clark (Warnock against teams with bad RW) would be our best shout for now. Dunney looked great Sat. Albrighton or N'zog must always start or we'll be too narrow (relax everyone...Nzog doesn't have a shit attitude and ain't leaving in Jan and WILL come good. Rest of midfield unfortunately picks itself. Bent is only worth playing if we're gonna play with width. If we're gonna play hoofball, Heskey (but only play him if he's gonna play as a forward). Lack of options once again...
  5. The Jets game is not a "should win" game. Jets match up very well against NYJ, because they have one of the best Pass Defenses in the NFL. Amazing game to watch yesterday for the neutral. I was pulling for the G-men.
  6. The good: The announcement of my son's birth at halftime Brad Guzan finally getting some playing time Dunne's new Messi-esque moves. The flick up then cross?!!! WOW The bad: everything else
  7. Herd to RB, Cuellar in for Collins and Clark in for Warnock at LB. That'd be a good start to shoring up our D. Albrighton or Nzog MUST be in the starting XI, otherwise we will have 0 width and 0 dribbling threat. Heskey should come off the bench for Gabby or Bent, not start. Petrov + Jenas + Bannan/Delph as the other 3 midfielders.
  8. Not good enough. His cockup for the 2nd goal aside...does anyone notice that nearly every time an opponent is played onside it is COLLINS not pushing up! 0 awareness. Unfortunately AMC has a love affair with him (not really, but almost), so don't expect him getting benched any time soon.
  9. If you are a LB you need to be able to defend. Warnock just isn't good enough defending. He got skinned badly 3 or 4 times and headed the ball to the Spurs in a dangerous position another two times. He isn't good enough going forward to justify playing him in spite of his defensive shortcomings.
  10. Can someone make a CuellAr graphic similar to the Clark (not Clarke) one?
  11. Due date is on Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. I'm on another forum which is dominated by Jets fans and even after Jet wins the theme seems to be "Die schotty, die!" Kurt, there's a reason for that!! Most Jets fans can predict the plays we're going to run based on personnel and formations. Sanchez has like a 25 qb rating out of the shotgun, so brilliant schotty keeps calling for shotgun plays. Shotty loves trying to pass the ball when it's first and goal even though we've been dominant running the ball, he's a moron. He never uses Keller, Sanchez's bread and butter are 10-20 yard passes over the middle, outs, slants and playaction timing routes. But Schotty insists on hb curl type passes that EVERYONE knows Sanchez is terrible at. You need to put your players in the best position to succeed and Schotty just ain't getting it done. I'm as big a Jets fan as there is, but i'm starting to think Nick Mangold is hugely overrated. Maybe he isn't 100% healthy w the ankle, but this year he's been a huge disappointment. I still believe that Sanchez IS talented enough to be an above average QB in the NFL. He's just getting hamstrung by that dumbass Shotty.
  13. All I can say right now is that the Jets have the worst OC in the league. The only consolation is that at least I'm not an Eagles fan! I hate how the press is putting this all on Sanchez. The guys is getting the sh*t knocked out of him and has no time to pass the ball. Wayne Hunter is the worst RT in the game. Statistically, Sanchez has improved each season. I'm getting sick of big mouth Rex now too.
  14. Him and McLeish are very close. Maybe it's a ginger thing (when Collins had hair).
  15. I'm 99% sure we paid just under 2.5m in compo and he is on a 3 yr/6m contract. I also form part of the "he seems like a decent guy and I want him to succeed, but our football is shit under him" camp.
  16. I second most of this. Dying intestate, if you have a spouse and or children that depend on you financially, is selfish.
  17. A few months ago I saw him out at Mechu and he was pissed, belligerent and starting fights with people...punching his friends, etc. There were half a dozen teammates there who were NOT out of control or drunk like him. I said it way back then...he seems like a prick. He obviously doesn't have much of a brain because ALL VILLA PLAYERS are provided with a FREE car service to pick them up and drive them ANYWHERE. Furthermore, there is a confidentiality policy...so the team cannot find out who uses the service. Still need to gather all the facts, but I'm not surprised.
  18. Bump Does anyone live in/near Moseley? Looking at a house there tomorrow just East of the High Street a few blocks south of St Mary's row. I looked at some crime stats and it doesn't look too safe. Commute to city centre seems to be 30mins max by bus. Anyone wanna chime in? Thanks
  19. Posted this in the Match forum...does anyone else notice he does this? For the love of GOD, can someone tell Bent not to leap 5 seconds too early every time there is a long ball played!?!?!?!?! Every time he jumps right when the ball is hoofed and has nearly landed by the time the ball reaches him, hence losing 99% of long ball 50/50s. Why doesn't someone tell him "dude wait a couple seconds before leaping, thanks"???
  20. First goal was on Dunney (who is playing very well) and Collins and 2nd goal was just a once in a lifetime amazing goal which noone could have really defended (Cuellar was v close to his man) For the love of GOD, can someone tell Bent not to leap 5 seconds too early every time there is a long ball played!?!?!?!?! Every time he jumps right when the ball is hoofed and has nearly landed by the time the ball reaches him, hence losing 99% of long ball 50/50s. Why doesn't someone tell him "dude wait a couple seconds before leaping, thanks"??? Cuellar defended well when he came on and actually sent in two very good crosses out of 4 attempts (better than Albrighton's 0/4 ) Cuellar should either replace Collins or start at RB. There really isn't much between him and Hutton going forward (Hutton has been utter shit so far) and his defending is solid. I agree with clear red for Hutton, no red for Herd and that Villa weren't good enough with 11 or 10 men really. N'zogbia was good once, right? Big move, big new contract...it's showing. I swear it was like watching the same old GH, we can't defend anything, team. Didn't we bring in AMC to tighten up and to defend set pieces like a PL squad? You've gotta assume that teams like WBA will get their chances via set pieces...so defend the friggin things. Frustrating.
  21. Just saw a friend of mine who was headed to VP. It surprised me because I thought he'd already be there (he tends to get there very early). He didn't seem very happy.
  22. Met Guzan and his wife today. Brad is HUGE...not fat, but built like a linebacker: 6'3 and at least 220.
  23. Didn't see the match...gonna watch football first later. How about this idea: Clark as DM and Cuellar at CB with Dunney. Hutton (can only improve!!)-Carlos-Dunne-Warnock Clark Bannan Petrov Ireland Bent-Gabby Takers?
