Finished Better Things, I can recommend that one.
Moved onto Better Call Saul...it's been so **** long since season 5 I can hardly remember WTF is going on.
We've taken a punt on Gerrard. It hasn't worked out but we have seen what 'a name' can do for recognition, draw, etc.
We need to go get a manager that has proven themselves at the top table somewhere in the big leagues, and one that makes a statement. There's no point hoping we unearth a gem from somewhere else, be that from a weaker league or someone at the start of their career.
When Netflix came on the scene it had no competition, fast forward to now and you’ve got multiple platforms all vying for the same content, Netflix, Disney, Amazon, Paramount+, Discovery and probably a bunch of others I haven’t included, it’s kinda gotten out of hand really.
People deride Sky, particularly in a footballing context in terms of their impact on the game (in the UK) but man, think about 10 years or so ago, they really were halcyon days. For whatever the (maximum) sky subscription was back then you could watch every new film that came out (okay, 6 months after release but still), English, Scottish, Spanish, Italian, Champions League and international football (as well as all the other sports) plus any decent TV series.
Nowadays you’d need around 6 or 7 different subscriptions to match that whilst still paying top whack for Sky.
Victory for the consumer? Abso-frickin-lutely not!!
I absolutely agree with the sentiment. But I’d also take it back one step, to before your person on twitter publicises their thinking.
What if you had known since your child was 4 years old that they were in the wrong body. If your child had been telling you so ever since they could string sentences together. Then, perhaps, seeing somebody that hasn’t lived the experience airing their thoughts on twitter is indeed going to look like they are provoking you with their uninformed thoughts and beliefs.
That they are suggesting you cannot start a process until you are an adult, and that process will then take years, when you have already known what you are for pretty much all of you conscious life. Well, that can be a bit upsetting. That is the confrontation.
Perhaps, if the person thinking out loud on twitter had some science and some lived experience to contribute, not just their beliefs then yes, perhaps that could constructively add to the discourse.
Perhaps the person that believes trans people are denying biology, are sports cheats, and are fair game for jokes, is actually the one that is victim blaming?
Yep definitely too early. Digne could have easily been Zinchenko for me but they're both placeholders for Perisic anyway and hindsight is 20/20. The rest I'm happy to own. Bailey probably out soon after West Ham anyway. Da Silva rotates very nicely with Andreas if we go that way. But there are options everywhere.
As for FTs. My plan was a City mid for Kulu in GW2 but Kulu then goes into Wolves and Forest so I may even keep him considering no City mid staked a claim. I might risk Mahrez seeing as he missed out against West Ham and if he does come in you'd fancy he'll go off. Let's see what the week brings up.
Im not usually one to over-react but if we dont beat Everton with a vastly improved, dynamic performance then I think we need to be moving on without Gerrard. Its not necessarily the result vs bournemouth that alarms me...its how we lost. We are seeing the exact same problems we saw at the end of last season (principally carrying no attacking threat), Gerrard said he needed a pre season to fix them repeatedly so either a) he doesnt see the key problems we have or b) he can't fix them - both of which are concerning. Now, credit where credits due, I genuinely think he's built an unbelivable squad. I just dont think he's able to get the best out of that squad by setting us up wrong/ coaching us ineffectively. He talks a good game...but I dont see that being transferred onto the pitch where it matters. That said, we should only twist if a manager is available who can actively improve us e.g. Poch. I think ultimately Gerard could scrap enough points to finish 12-14 again... So a stable premier league outfit, no point risking that for an average manager. As I said though - this really isnt me overreacting to a result... its the nature of the perfomance itself that really disappointed and alarmed me.
Nothing about me being proven right in the slightest mate.
Gerrard makes baffling decisions, so even if he was to get a few good results here and there, I'd much rather someone manage us who doesn't think McGinn has to be an ever present, and who actually plays our best players in roles that suit them.
