100 % agree. Alien is a proper good movie and its easily a 9 or 10 out of 10 for me. While Aliens is almost as good there are a few problems. The marines are useless, someone listed them all further up in the thread. There is a quicker way, mr&mrs body bag. The second one does what a lot of films do when the try and pull fans of other films types in, add children. The most obvious and lame plot device of them all, instead of a sci fi / horror epic we end up with people throwing the logic book out the window and getting all tear eyed because of a doll or blanket. I still love the film but it's only an 8 out of 10. If the film had a clue it would have had the kid mashed up real quick, now that would focus our Ripley ?

If he had actually listened to someone and not hired Mcleish or Tick Tock (GH) it would have more money now to play with. What I am saying is doing things on the cheap in the prem is us all over and look where we are. We have players stating they are not coming to the Villa as we are not a big club anymore. I am not saying lets go to Harrods for every signing, let's just not do the Aldi thing all the time. Bent is a good example, only bought as a panic buy to slot into a position where we just sold the supply to the top 4 ? Right player, wrong time, wrong reason, wrong, wrongy wrong. It is a horrifing look into our ambition though ? If we set the bar any lower to kick in bonuses we might as well give a bonus for been on time every day. How about a bonus that kicks in after X ammount of home wins for example or per place in the league only starting at 10th and upwards?

Pretty much where I am at, I called everyone in the UK last night. Even my Mom was chuffed and she don't watch football, I feel 10 kg lighter today and I actually smiled before 11.00 am today. I am with you on Mcleish, he was so out of his depth it was painful to watch, no 100 % his fault and I can see how it all happened. Towards the end I did feel a bit sorry for him, he's got family as well and he is earning a living. The lesson for Lerner and any other managers that feel the urge to come to VP, the Villa is bigger than all of you and always will be. I suppose that how it works but even so, why is someone still allowed into Villa Park with a record like his is unreal. It should be less than 60 points to start with. Most clubs employ a manager with high hopes, someting like : New job, new prospects. We will give you a bonus when we sail past 75 points. We build in that if we don't get to 40 points..... :oops: Is it just me or what, at what point does a club like ours build in 40 points to a bonus. Also, my old man got called by a bird from the Villa called Nikki(?) not sure what her job is but it's becasue my Dad sent a letter to Faulkner who did not bother to reply. (He is registered blind) but the Villa charge him extra becasue he sits in the upper Doug Ellis, the reduced seats are in the lower. He has sat there since it was built and has been going down the villa for 50 + years. The reason he sits in the upper is that he can see the game better from there as he looks down on the grass, if he is lower he gets the other stand in his vision which makes it super difficult for him. He has about 20-30 % vision but only in 1 eye. They basically told him they won't help him, rules are rules I suppose. He then asked about Mcleish and informed her he won't get a season ticket unless he is gone anyway.

100% Agree. Whilst I think he is an utterly useless manager and detest his style of football, the fact that he has to use these players week in week out is more Lerner's fault than Mcleish's. The sad thing is that if we are not careful we will kill the careers of some very promising youngsters, imagine if they had been at a proper club like Man Utd or similar, few loans out to teams to get some experience and gradually slot them into the team using tried and tested methods. The Villa = There you go, go and get a draw, get booed off, play every week, be very lucky to know what a 1st team win feels like, get shipped out eventually to cut wage, play with Heskey and discuss his 70k a week and so on ..... Hmmmm THe villa sounds so very attractive, what a youth setup that is. I might open a Brazillian Cafe by Bodymoor Heath as we wil just get one Brazillian wonder kid after another if McMong stays. If he stays and is here in the first day of next season is there a point where we admit defeat and just let them have it. With him still there and the board so clueless its painfull there is a point where its just not our club anymore, if they keep him on then that's the biggest 2 finger salute to the fans they could ever do. Start a new club from the ground up that reflects what AVFC is all about because they are stripping it of any dignity it had left IMO. They are going to kill it eventually, do we all need to be there when the vet turns up ? Even with a new manager what exactley is there to look forward to short to medium term, feed the top 6 a bit, fight relegation and not be the top club in the midlands which was all we had to be honest that was of any significance to us and even that sounds a bit meh these days. Yes the Karl Henry (It might as well be Karl Pilkington for all the good he would do us) link is probabley BS but that is the kind of player we will be buying for the wages on offer. Yep, me too. Every single atom that makes you will be re-used billions of times in various differnet places after you die. So from a certain POV you live forever in 1 form or another. This is true for everything in the universe, life has nothing to do with it. The universe started out with X ammount of elements. It may be the case they are used at certain points in humans or planets. If people could understand how big the universe is the God question would never even be mentioned IMO becasue it just sounds a bit far fetched. I can understand why people fall for it if they think the earth is all that but it isn't, in the big scheme of things we are not even a spec of dust in the Sahara. Once this is understood I think it a lot easier for people to understand. I am not trying to kick it off in the thread but offering something else to think about. Even our galaxy, the milky way is nothing in the big scheme of things. Instead of thinking who built the roller coaster, enjoy the ride instead

I would get someone in who knows a bit about football and rip up everything currently in place. It's the only way, we forget that at a fundermental level the business of AVFC is a failing business, if we made biscuits we would be out of business by now. Moving a few departments around and slotting people around into available slots just aint going to do it. Strip the fín lot out and start again. Get some football people in and base the business on the product, the entertainment on the green stuff, get this right and it all flows together. God, they make it all so difficult. (entertainment :oops: I know, I know)

To be fair to Mcleish this is a Villa thing and not exclusive to him. The players we have bought in the last say 5 - 7 years are let's be honest a mixed bag of talent but the ones who get better or perform as expected or better we sell (Young / Downing)and we manage to buy players that just don't perform as they did previously. (Zog / Bent / ....). Not sure why this is but even further back, Bosko / Collymore etc. Yes people will point out it happens to all teams but on this scale ? I think not. Newcastle are a good example, look at their recent buys and look at ours ? Pound for pound who has the better deal ? We all scramble around looking in the transfer thread for the summer (is it up yet) and get 1000 + pages but whether bad luck or a symptom of just doing things a little too cheaply we are forever going to be in this never ending circle.

Agreed, for the first time ever I actually could not be bothered about QI. I love that programme usually but it needs funny people as guests to make it work. Noble + Davies on one team, hmmmm. Yes it was side splitting when he executed the little doll with his buzzer, I was literally calling an ambulance the 7th time it was so so funny. It all went blurry once he dropped the doll thing onto his own feet through the hole in the desk. No wonder Fry looked a bit miffed, here we are in the Cathedral of comedy, we are blessed with the presence of comedy greatness, bow down to Noble for he is the king of comedy now. Blackadder....pah Slack bladder more like...and all the comedians in the world cried, to want to be the best is an aim that was once achievable but alas Noble has shown the way, Fry, Milligan, Ronnie Barker and Monty python are dead.
