  1. I don’t think even the surgeon knew what he was going to do.. until he did it.
  2. Maybe he had him on the bench ready to come on should we be needing a goal, and get him fitter for the more important games. - but then why play him for 90 minutes against Romania? Maybe he was fit then, but then had a flare up, so they decided not to risk him. Maybe Southgate doesn’t want to play him, but knows if he doesn’t win he’s going to get some hard questions about why he didn’t play - so will only play him if he *has* to, so he can say that he did play him, but didn’t make any difference? Despite what some on here are alluding to, Southgate had a grudge with Jack - this is FACT. The reason, and legitimacy of this grudge may be up for debate, but the grudge itself is not. However, although I do think he’s gotten over the grudge, I still think that he doesn’t rate him as much as the rest of the country does. His hand has been somewhat forced, but he’s definitely come around to the idea of Jack being part of the setup. As for the Jack saying that there’s definitely things that he’s learning and still needing to improve his game is PR talk. Only a proper clearing in the woods would say ‘I’m amazing and there’s nothing to improve’. Jacks a very humble guy in every interview I’ve ever seen, and him saying that he’s learning stuff from Southgate is just normal stuff to say. There’s nothing to learn from that fool other than how to be a good PR man. Jack works INCREDIBLY hard. More so that any of the other forwards in that England squad, so I can’t agree with that being a reason for leaving him out. Southgate may well believe this, but we know about his skewed beliefs. At the end of the day, I don’t want him injured, so I’m happy if he doesn’t play. But I want him to be happy, so I want him to play. But my biggest concern is that he will think that no matter what he does, until he’s wearing a big 6 shirt that he won’t get the recognition he deserves. That’s my biggest gripe about this all
  3. Indeed if you look at their other articles, they also look totally made up.
  4. I too thought he had a poor game. He does a few nice things, then will gift the ball away in a dangerous position. I love the guy, and I think he’s a great character to have around. But I’m starting to believe like a few on here that we’ve outgrown him. I desperately want him to grow with us, but he just gives the ball away too much.

Woahhhh you come back after about 2 years, and it’s to post this? Go back into hibernation
  6. Yh I read that article some time ago I didn’t pay any attention to it
  7. This one? https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.footballinsider247.com/aston-villa-sanson-big-mistake-deal/amp/
  8. Anyone else notice him struggle to get the mask on his nose and chin at the same time? The elastic on the mask was proper stretched too. With all them millions you’d think he could afford to ask his tailor to custom make him one.
  9. You’re 100% right in all what you’ve said there. The point being made (and I’m sure you probably know this) is that the team could be stronger. A win against Croatia is an excellent result. The guy who started instead of Jack is the guy who scored the goal, and is a pretty damn good player himself.
  10. Yes. He said that the remit was to win games. That is all. You can win a tournament by drawing two games, winning the rest. You haven’t met your remit because you didn’t win your games… …BUT you won a tournament. Had he said ‘winning ALL the games’ then THAT would win you a tournament - but that’s still not the remit. The remit is to win the tournament.
  11. Ah, but no. winning 9 games and losing 1 actually gives you a 90% success rate under your definition. winning 9 games and losing the final gives a 0% success rate under my definition.
  12. You know initially I thought there was an agenda too, and I was furious at Southgate about it. I’ve since come to the conclusion that he’s just too **** stupid to know a good player, and I feel so less stressed about it. The fans and the press pretty much forced his inclusion. He HAD to take him despite his recent recovery from injury because he couldn’t explain it away because he’s taking Kane and Maguire and Phillips. But, I actually prefer the whole idea of the press hammering him, and the whole country asking Southgate ‘Why isn't grealish playing??’
  13. I don’t think anyone thinks he has an agenda. Everyone thinks he’s a bit dumb. I don’t mind so much. I want him to come on and do a Roberto Baggio. “The man the whole of Italy wanted to see in the team”. Sound familiar?
  14. That’s pretty impressive knowledge there! if my mate was to try to get a wife from a Russian catalogue, but already has a missus here... what are his chances? Shes 5’11 and blonde, and has two GCSE equivalents if that helps with the points stuff
  15. Jack doesn’t retire. Retirement Jacks.
  16. This is a very valid point. I know stats can be very misleading, but take a look at this: https://fbref.com/tiny/y8rj4 If Sanson brings what he did in France, then we have a quality player there - his defensive contribution is phenomenal along with his attacking contribution - but the Premier League is very different. What stands out about JWP is the amount of involvement he has in games - He sees the ball A LOT compared to our boys. I'm not sure why that is? Tactical set up? I'm not convinced we're in for him either to be honest. I think we're going to give Sanson a proper go this season.
  17. Because he’s actually a pretty good player too.
  18. That’s offensive to the disabled. you should apologise to Drinkwater.
  19. you can stop watching at approx 1 minute in.
  20. I really can’t understand where they’re coming from at all. THEY put the price tag on their player. WE met the asking price. We didn’t rob them. Arsenal wouldn’t pay them the £40m. They would’ve dragged it out and increased their bid slowly slowly by £1m a week, and then bought him on the last day for £25m after all their other plans had failed. And then paid Norwich at 15p a week or something dumb. Norwich fans should be grateful we paid them what they wanted, and use that money to plan for their next season in the championship.
  21. Over the moon with this. Absolute baller.

I love mings, and we’ve a lot to thank him for.. ...but this chap’s not wrong with what he’s saying.

    Dwight McNeil

When we played them, I honestly thought ‘he’s a good player’. Great engine, excellent at carrying the ball, great skill. His stand out asset for a winger though is his willingness to get stuck in. I’m shocked he’s only 21, I’d have thought he was about 26 from looking at him. He’s a left winger, and I think that position is currently AEGs with JG at CAM. Therefore a direct comparison brings up the stats below. Looking at those, it *suggests* that he is much more defensive. I suspect that is hugely down to the way Burnley set up. His attacking stats are extremely poor, with xA and xG frankly at the very bottom of all wingers in the premier league, but defensively he’s at the other end of the spectrum. The YouTube highlights suggest a different skill set all together! The real question is why his attacking stats are so poor a) because he’s just not very good at providing attacking opportunities b) because Dyche tells him to defend first and foremost. I looked at Johanson (sp?) stats also - the burnley RW, and he has a similar focus on defensive stats, so it must be a tactical thing. I am convinced that in a team that sets up differently, his stats would be much improved. He has a lot of successful carries, but nearly all in his own half, and with poor ‘progression’ - but again I suspect because of tactical set up. I’d be all for this signing, but not at the suggested price of 30-50% of our summer budget.
