  1. You don't half post some rubbish on here! Do you think success is directly related to salary? If so, how have Everton finished above us in all but two seasons out of the last **** knows how many when their average salary per player is about 55% of what Villa pay?
  2. I for one have never slated Bannan. I have however seen him play some excellent football. I would give him an extended run in the side and see how he does. And when I say extended, I mean at least 20 more games this season. This board is the most fickle place I have ever seen. Bannan could stick five past Manure and by the end of MOTD some on here would be calling him a word removed and an SPL player, and the ridiculous old line "Hollywood Balls" would be trotted out. The last time I went to Villa Park was the FA Cup match against Blackburn in the Houllier era. We beat them 3-1. Bannan was the stand out best player on the park that day. He has got it, let's give him an extended chance to do it. Afterall, he's better than Delph.
  3. I've stated my case with MON several times. He is a one-dimensional one-trick pony who can only manage 11 players. Premier League football is a squad game - you're not going to get through a season with 11 players. They will either become injured or just simply burn out, as they did at Villa and as they evidently are at Sunderland. Look at MON's record at Villa for the last three months of the season during his last three seasons here and it paints a picture of a very average manager. MON has spent big money again at Sunderland, yet they appear to be moving backwards. Fast. They were a steady mid table club who are now staring at the foot of the table. At Villa, we are rebuilding from scratch. It would not make sense to get rid of Lambert this season OR next, as we would fail to attract a manager who would want time and patience to build the stability the club and fans want. If you think this is being hypocritical, you are a Johnson.

Among my quiver of computers I have three old PCs. I want to format one of them with Ubuntu but I'm struggling to do it. I have burned an ISO of Ubuntu 12.10 to CD and also copied the ISO to a flash drive but got nowhere with it. I've re-sequenced the boot order in BIOS to prioritise the correct device but it does not recognise the OS on the disc and will not boot. Has anyone got any suggestions for how I can do this? I really want to have a bash with Linux/Ubuntu but don't know how/where to start.

While reading that post, the only thought that came into my head was the team getting raped. There is no midfield, this there is no supply to the front six. Also midfield has been our weakness this season with no presence, allowing teams to walk over us. Yesterday doesn't count because MON is also a lightweight midfield specialist. We need a solid holding midfield, then two more CMs in front of him. We need other teams to know they are not going to just walk through us. To play no central midfield is utterly laughable and is comparable to McLeish tactics (if we pay attacking players it is a positive sign). Abject stupidity.
  6. He reckons they had loads of chances and its only a matter of time before they click. Utter MON bollocks.

As I said, I was using Vista Basic - which is the shittest of shit. Six days into W8 though and I am hugely impressed. It is smooth and very fast. Recommended if you are running an old OS. I wouldn't upgrade from W7 to this though, it's not a significant enough step forward to make it worth the hassle.
  9. MON can't manage a squad. In his four season here he used the same 11 players until they were **** (Feb/March) then we lost all our momentum. Apart from his first season here, we were solid contenders for top four every year, but only until February. MON will never do better than he did with us. He can't buy and manage a squad to play consistently for a full season. I think it's all coming undone for him now. Getting booed off by fans in under 12 months by the same fans that watched Mick McCarthy for three years can't be good for your stock. I expect some of the journos pointing out his weaknesses are distancing themselves to retain credibility.
  10. He's played 2 games from a potential 14 this season. He needs to prove he has the desire to play football rather than sit on the bench, and when he realises he is spending his Saturday afternoons in a Recaro seat, he might move and become the player he once was. He's got to play regularly though, and it's looking less and less likely he is going to do that up there.
  11. Their accounts must be ****. Surely the league must take action against them? For all anyone knows, they could be in a mess that would render them in administration, which would seriously affect the value of the club. I'm not sure why HMRC are not lubing up for this...
  12. Positivity - I like it. I expect the omnipresent doom-mongers will be predicting a dour loss but I want to be positive. I reckon we could nick this one by a goal.
  13. Well, that's Liverpool out then. Black arm bands ordered for the weekend...
  14. I'd rather pretend to have my own phone network than use Orange. Once a great network, then I am led to believe they sold off a lot of their transmitters to Three at the time they merged with T-Mobile. I was an Orange customer for over 11 years, but the last 12 months was sheer pain.
  15. I remember a Conference Exeter side taking Manure to a 0-0 draw in the FA Cup. In 2005, which was Manure's poorest season of the recent years. Still, would you write their players off with the same stupid bullshit you have leveled at ours? Burton Albion have done the same more recently. But how many Manure players would even get into the Burton side???????

    GTA 5

I'd rather have a game like this in the autumn/winter. I can become a caveman for a few months then, never seeing sunlight. A spring release means I will be outside as much as possible, thus not give it full attention, ergo I will be shit at multiplayer again. Damn you RSG!
  17. When you're 4-0 up, you shouldn't be looking at going on to concede 7. Reading have exposed themselves this evening.
  18. Does anyone know what's going on with AC Milan this season? They're 2-0 down at Palermo this evening and now 15 points behind Juventus in the league...

    GTA 5

It'll have 32 players per lobby and there will be loads of gang missions like in Red Dead Redemption, where you can rob anything from a launderette to a bank...

    Relegation

Despite the cyclic depression from three of four ever-presents on here, I do not believe things are that bad. And they will improve. We will not be relegated this season.
