  1. Johan reads my posts. Johan, if you're reading this, I love you. Let's run away together and you can run Villa as a digital nomad from a Caribbean island.
  2. Today is the day a certain Frenchmen announces himself to the Villa Park faithful. Sanson, let's **** do this.
  3. He was dreadful but inoffensive before Brentford. He is dread and offensive post Brentford. Get. Him. Out.
  4. I hope with all the work on incomings, there is also work on renewing contracts ongoing. This guy is at the front of the queue.
  5. Stadiums are nearly empty. The quality of football is appalling. The refereeing even worse. Its smack bang in the middle of the season. This is why the tournament gets so much shit.
  6. Be still, my beating heart!
  7. Discussing contractual situations. No one is arguing here, everyone is excited, no one is playing down the quality of the player, everyone is appreciative of the work the club has done. The purpose of a forum is to discuss, I think.
  8. If all this is true, and there's absolutely no reason for me to think it isn't, he's by far our biggest ever signing. Essentially, if we want him, he has to be ours? Sweet. I'm on the Brazilian Bandwagon.
  9. This should be D! Or part of A. Or B.
  10. Because... 1) Its an option, it hasn't happened yet. 2) All clubs have an "option to buy", we just have a price already agreed. 3) Coutinho is here because of Gerrard. After this season, Gerrard has a year and a half left on his contract, coinciding with Klopp. Do you see Coutinho committing to a three or four year contract at Villa if Gerrard is possibly / likely here only 18 months? Its a wonderful loan signing and I can't wait to see him play. However, the "biggest signing in Villa's history" talk is hyperbole gone crazy.
  11. Its a loan signing for six months.
  12. If we can't score from the chances we've created thus far, we're obviously going to need more chances, aren't we?
  13. I read that as Juventus and Palace wanting to loan our Aaron Ramsey. Monday morning is clearly breaking me.
  14. The semi final hero is still with us.
  15. Why 22 years? Also, best thing would have to be NSWE, surely?
  16. He's going to benefit by getting a lot more rest I guess.
  17. Surely Coutinho could say no, no?! Unless he's agreed a contract with Villa for six months and a contract for after that also during these negotiations?
  18. Yeah, so as I thought. If he has an absolutely amazing six months with us and value rockets, we can still buy him for pre-agreed price but other clubs would need to offer what his performances reflect. Cheers!
  19. Could someone please explain the furore around the "option to buy"? I get that it means we have a pre-arranged price in place if we want to buy the player. However, what if another team decide they want him too and offer more money? Surely either Barca can accept the higher bid also, or Coutinho can simply say no to us and then force Barca into accepting the other offer? Ergo, I don't get it.
  20. Surely all clubs have "option to buy" - why does this part make a difference?
  21. It's learned behaviour. I don't blame any fan for being wary of expensive signings, or failed signings, or mercenary signings. The last 20 years have been nothing but near misses, possible extinction, disappointment and anti-climax. Fans have become susceptible to this and being "okay" is a safer place to be than striving for excellence with the possibility of not achieving it. I really think the Lerner era hit fans harder than most understand.
