  1. CV, I think you've actually increased the volume of comic-book film related posts
  2. Anyway, back to films. Has anyone seen Warm Bodies? I assumed it was just some horrible modern rom-com rubbish when it came out, but I was looking at recent DVD releases to watch and it seems to have pretty good reviews. Is it worth a viewing?
  3. I would agree. But it's now dominated by comic book film chat. I just think maybe a comic book film thread would be of use as there are loads of people who've no interest in them at all. Or just keep this as all movie chit chat and have a separate thread for movie recommendations / reviews? I read all posts about I've seen X and thought X y & z about it. I like reading reviews and opinions about movies. But the thread is so popular it's hard to get to read them. You're the one that's bringing up 'comic book film chat' at the moment, when others are posting about a range of films. You don't want to read posts that are about movies you don't like, yet seem happy to post repeatedly about the thread itself and how it's not how you'd like it to be, when others have made sensible suggestions regarding how to remedy this. If you're specifically looking for movie reviews, maybe this forum isn't the best place to look? And if you like opinions, then you have to accept that many people like things that you don't. Comic book movies, for example, which have been extremely popular recently (hence the discussion about Affleck). I'm not really a fan, other than Nolan's Batman trilogy, but I accept that they're popular and people want to talk about them. I expect to see people talking about them in the Film Thread. At the end of the day, you've described it as "hard" to read "reviews and opinions about movies" in this thread, because it is "popular". It's actually full of reviews and opinions. In fact, it's all reviews and opinions. However, what you mean is, there's a lot of opinion about stuff you're not interested in. So, how long does it take for you to realise a post isn't about your preferred type of film? Do you a significant amount of time slowly reading each post, before suddenly realising it's about another comic book film, and grimacing in pain at yet another wasted hour? Oh, and by the way:
  4. Did he say anything interesting?
  5. I think it's just people have been pinching Wigan's wingers ever since Utd signed Valencia hoping they're just as good. We did it with CNZ. Wigan's best players over the last 4-5 years have all been wingers/strikers, and there has always been a bit of a media hype around the players too which make people who don't really watch the games think they are in fact quite good. So Chelsea bought Moses purely because of media hype?
  6. Obviously I'm very glad they didn't, but Arsenal should have gone straight in for Benteke when he put in a transfer request, unless they genuinely thought that Suárez was a done deal. Even if that was the case, they have the money to bring in both, and would have had the most feared strike force in the league.
  7. Some great comments on there. Such a masterplan from Wenger: "Haha, I bid for le Higuaín, le Suárez, le Rooney et le Benzema, and you forget zat all along we 'av le Bendtner! KAPOW! Je juis génial. Now, on with ze season!"
  8. Didn't they have a guy who took really long throw-ins, too?
  9. Yep, I think they can close for business once they bring in Flamini. Transfer window complete, and lots of satisfied season ticket holders. Job done, Arsène!
  10. Thought they'd had another one when I saw the thread title on the first page! Thankfully not the case, but obviously the issues are far from over.
  11. Watched Seven Psychopaths yesterday. Had heard mixed things and didn't expect it to be as good as In Bruges or The Guard (both of which I loved), but really enjoyed it. Really good cast.
  12. Try talking about Villa, I think you already know that limpid doesn't like that
  13. You still see players wearing bandages on their heads because of wounds received during the game. I'm sure it's happened to Baker at least once in the last year or two. I didn't see the Arsenal game or the incident, but it sounds as though it was a little more serious than a clean cut to the head. As for Clark, I'm assuming that we were concerned about playing for five or more minutes with ten men against Chelsea yesterday, and that he may have been slightly concussed, so Lambert decided to take him off. It's not like Okore (although making his Premier League debut) is some inexperienced, unknown kid from the reserves.
  14. Why do think it should be so small? For a club that is trying to break even, you would expect around 66% of turnover to be spent on wages, 10% on transfer fees, 24% on overheads. As we have a turnover of £80m, that is £53m on wages, £8m on transfer fees. Maybe we can have slightly more (which we already have had) if overheads are lower, but in our case the wages are higher anyway. so maybe we're going for 66% wages, 20% transfer fees, 14% overheads. in which case Lambert should have £32m, of which he has spent £26m. So he has £6m left, which includes his January 2014 spend. The £80m figure for turnover was based on the accounts for the year to May 2012. This period will clearly see a dip in our turnover (which was £92m in the previous year). It will be more now, as attendances are rising, merchandising sales will be improving, and the income from TV money has increased. Furthermore, although we're pushing to break even, the club is clearly heading towards financial stability compared to the last few years - and Lambert has proven he has a good eye for a player - so I think that Randy wouldn't mind freeing up a little more cash for the right addition(s) to the squad. Considering most of our players should now have decent resale values, this is also less of a risk than it would have been. Also, particularly as we're buying such young players and have almost completely overhauled the squad, an increased spend on transfer fees this season doesn't at all mean that this is a trend that will continue. Lambert needs to add a couple more faces to make it truly 'his' squad, so this transfer window (as with the others during his tenure so far) we may see more expenditure than we will in the future, unless currently important players leave.
  15. I think Albrighton to Stoke would be a good move for all parties concerned.
  16. Cesc was phenomenal against Levante. Fantastic performance. I reckon he's been impressive at times tonight, too (much less so, though) even if he has made a couple of poor decisions.
  17. If Gerry Armstrong tells me that Neymar has lost a few kilos over the summer one more time, I swear I'm going to fly to Spain and put a machete through his face.
  18. It'd be a terrible shame, but I doubt Martino will gamble with him, especially at this stage of the season. He's still by far the best player in the world, and Barça are better with him in the side, but they have plenty of other options - including the young man who equalised tonight.
  19. This is an example of a team really, really playing their bollocks off against Barcelona. It's hard to dislike Atlético, and they deserve to get something out of this game.
  20. Lovely goal. Villa is a wonderful striker. Atlético playing very well so far, in their own typical style. Barça's threats have generally been nullified well.
  21. just seen this on SSN, he got smashed! think they said he'd done his teeth and might have cracked his skull Was it as bad as this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PD_0qbUYacw
  22. Great strike from Villa there to open up the scoring in the Super Cup. I love Barça, but I love David Villa, too. One of my favourite players.
  23. Can't fault the lads. Slow start, but a convincing performance. Kevin Friend royally **** us over in the second half. Spineless prick. I'd have definitely taken a positive goal difference coming out of the first two games. We should still be very optimistic off the back of this.
