  1. Some credit in bank, but that would dwindle quickly with a bad spell over the next month or so. Winning a cup could save him but I could see them lose to Chelsea next week in League cup with current injuries/form and then Sunderland away in FA cup is a banana skin of a draw. and then in the league, in-form Fulham at home this weekend is exactly the kind of game you don't want at this moment. Their Christmas fixtures aren't bad but their Jan is tough with Liverpool, City and us..
  2. We got a bad record there but hopefully we can end that this weekend. Mbuemo missing helps and they got a few other injuries aside - Jensen in particular is a big miss if he still out. Still they have a good manager and will be well-drilled, only 2 teams won there and one of them was Arsenal with a 1-0 in the 89th min. We certainly can't go into this complacently expecting an easy win. Without Luiz and Digne seems like Ramsey and Moreno are the natural choices to come in, if they are thought to be up to speed. If Moreno not, we'll have to have an unorthodox LB choice - Cash, perhaps. or Lenglet. Could see a tight game with Watkins to be the matchwinner.
  3. Blackburn didn't come from nowhere, they'd finished 4th and 2nd the previous two seasons since getting promoted so they would have been one of the favourites going into their title season. They were seen as 'new money' with the way Walker invested and their fairly rapid rise but it wasn't quite like Leicester's relegation battle -> title
  4. Hadn't quite realised the whole build up. I think everyone other than Digne touches the ball?! Really is an impressively worked goal
  5. I think it's one of those ones where, had the ref not called it, I don't think VAR would have overturned either (i.e. goal would have stood). Tough one to call with the ball bouncing around probably hitting Cash's arm as well. Does make me wonder what would the correct decision be if it was considered they both handballed but Cash handballed first - disallow the goal but give a penalty?!
  6. First real minutes for about 2 months and it's tough ask for any player to be thrown in from the cold into a tight match against a top side, so he did pretty well in the context. Couple bad passes but otherwise did the job
  7. nah this is 100% a game for Duran to start. OIlie needs a break ahead of Xmas league games. would go something like: Martinez Cash-Konsa-Lenglet-Moreno Zaniolo-Donk-Luiz-Ramsey Diaby-Duran
  8. Will very much enjoy Arteta's bad-loser vibes. He's probably the most unlikeable manager in the league. We did ride luck at times, but showed good resiliance. And obviously with the early goal, Arsenal were the ones who needed to chase the game. Such brilliant character to get back to back 1-0s against City + Arsenal within a few days. Few teams will beat either of them this season, so to do both in a week is a serious achievement. I'm still not willing to believe we're in a title chase, but let's see where we are after New Year. The points gap to Utd/Spurs/Newcastle is very pleasing indeed!
  9. Trossard is class. but otherwise, yeah not too much to fear.
  10. Can't see 'em getting much away at Liverpool and West Ham, so it could be a v unhappy Old Trafford by the time we go on Boxing Day. -- Brighton dropping points as well and Spurs-Newcastle got each other tomorrow so at least one of them will drop points too. Even if we lose to Arsenal, we're not giong to be losing much ground this weekend.
  11. City are not that stacked this season in terms of depth. We saw that with the bench they had against us. I think they have ~15 real elite players, but beyond that it's either promising kids or fairly underwhelming (Kovacic, Nunes, Phillips) - so when they had 4 players out against us, that's what their bench was left with. There was no gamechangers there. Surprising they let both Mahrez and Gundogan go in summer.
  12. him and Digne both been on 4 yellows for 8 games now. Very good discipline to keep avoiding the ban - saw the cost for City with Rodri and Grealish both picking up their ban together. Might have been same result even with them, but they certainly would've been more competitive in midfield were they there
  13. Magnificent, what more to say. What a time to finally get that clean sheet. McGinn MOTM for me, but 11 contenders.
  14. City still a v strong XI but nothing to fear on the bench. No Doku is boost. Just a matter of keeping Haaland, Foden, Silva and Alvarez quiet

    Ezri Konsa

It was incredible tackle but he was fortunate in a way, forward could have got a slightly stronger touch to get it out of his reach and it would be 100% pen Fair play to forward there as well who didn't try and make something more of it. Others would have flung arms up screaming
  16. It did seem a game where maybe the Thurs game caught up on us a bit, Bournemouth in general seemed to have more energy. We also missed Kamara for clearing up problems before they begin in midfield - both their goals, feel like they would've been situations where he might've snuffed the danger before they got in behind (yes I do recall he was at fault for a similar one then but usually he is the one who mops up). Defence in general didn't seem quite on same wavelength. I can see the rationale for Konsa RB and adding Carlos, we do have to use squad and some more physical presence is useful against team like this - but there isn't the same understanding there yet. Konsa did okay, but did get drawn inside and they had joy down his side. Ultimately did well to come from behind twice and get a point out of it in the end, with two nice goals. Could look back on it as an important point as this could easily have been another Forest when we went 1 down early. Ref was indeed poor. Just very very inconsistent. He gave probably couple of too soft yellows early on but then having set that standard didn't back it up and started letting same or worse things go. what makes VAR so painful is that even after 5 minutes to make that offside decision, they can't show anything unambiguous because it appears totally arbitrary which frame and angle they have ultimately decided to draw the lines to decide. Punished us double because obviously it took the goal away, but also the absurd amount of time taken to make that decision killed the momentum at that point in the game and allowed Bournemouth space to regroup. If we have to suffer this dreck system, it should be allowed 60 secs absolute max.
  17. Looks alright, good chance for Bailey and Zaniolo, and plenty of good options on the bench. Interested to see exactly how it shapes up on pitch with Bailey, Zaniolo, McGinn, Tielemans - a few possibilities there in terms of who takes Kamara and Diaby's roles. Suspect he might have it with Bailey and Zaniolo sticking wide with Tielemans/McGinn both central but taking turns who pushes up Bailey-McGinn-Luiz-Zaniolo Tielemans Watkins but there's various other possibilities (though not the bizarro lineup on the BBC page with Bailey-Tielemans in centre mid )
  18. put a good shift in, and particularly 2nd half helped up the intensity a bit, felt like he was keen to make most of his chance to start. Still clearly a bit raw and doesn't always seem on same wavelength as teammates, but that'll come
  19. Better 2nd half and deserved to win by more. Ref was v poor, should have been a lot more yellows for late challenges as Legia tired and started scything. Given how soft and ridiculous some of his earlier yellows were (e.g. Doug and Tielemans) some of the ones he let go with nothing were ridiculous. We can still rest key players in the last game. only v limited scenario where we don't finish top now.
  20. Not terrible, but feels like playing within ourselves and a few too many sloppy passes. Haven't been able to get Duran involved enough. Moreno got nicely behind a couple of times just not had the final ball. Would prob shortly go with Bailey for Diaby and Ramsey for McGinn
  21. That midfield should dominate at home. Very nice to see Moreno starting. Surprised no Bailey, but Emery seems to see him function best as sub#1. Hopefully can start strong and get the chance to rest likes of Luiz, McGinn, Diaby in the 2nd + hopefully give Ramsey a decent runout.
  22. He was but tbh i think it's just because with way spurs play there's a lot of quick turnovers either way.
  23. Fantastic result. Some big performances 2nd half, Martinez, Kamara, Luiz, Tielemans Hard place to come, Spurs play high intensity and a bit unconventional tactics, you see big spaces sometimes where you don't expect, they look for the killer ball quickly and got some crafty players like Kulusevski. we did seem to get bit more of a read of them as the game went on. Not sure we really exploited break opportunities enough, but did enough and was a nice goal to win it, smooth pass and move football. Their keeper should've got it tbh
  24. Absolute sucker punch of a time to score. Really got a chance now. Spurs should tire, they were already starting to make mistakes towards end and don't have great bench options, we got good players to bring in. Been poor on the ball generally and allowed it to be a game of quick turnovers and chaos which suits Spurs. Would expect to see Tielemans for Cash at min. Possibly Kamara or McGinn off too as can't afford a 2nd yellow.
