  1. Not good but at least we've gone in only 1 down, game still there if we can find an equaliser. Positive thought would be they have expended quite a lot in pressing, may tire
  2. Hard one to call, Forest have put in some decent away performances against top teams though mostly ended up losing. At home they've mostly played teams down the bottom and they've drawn quite a few. This might be the kind of game that suits them more, where they can play like away team but with home support So I expect a competitive match. We'll probably dominate possession but Forest have danger on the break and getting the defensive line right will be key. Expect we'll go unchanged, with Bailey as the go to bench option again.
  3. woeful in the last 20. sat back and waited to lose can't have 10 behind the ball and not expect to concede. that said, looked a clear foul in buildup to equaliser. got the ball but right through the player to do so.
  4. What about at 55' when his excellent cross got us the equaliser, was that appalling? --- One good thing to mention, Luiz and Digne both avoided a card for once so will be available for West Ham. Either would've been big miss. They can pick up their bans for Luton perhaps.
  5. Not terrible, but maybe were showing a bit more of the effects of playing midweek, a few players below par. Think the game went more the way Wolves wanted it, in terms of being scrappy and interrupted, never got any real flow or sustained pressure going, and couldn't get the forwards involved enough. Could've snatched it but draw prob fair on balance of play. Motm prob Konsa or Carlos who were both solid. Nobody shone in forward positions.
  6. Showed good mentality against a stubborn defence. Kept pushing and deserved the win.
  7. Ugh. Watching Man Utd scored undeserved injury time winners never fails to bring misery. Ref decided that match.
  8. That was not much of the ball and a lot of the player. Le Tissier gets away with 2nd one there. And then straight red for Hanson
  9. Looked better 2nd half. Could snatch this yet.
  10. has a 10.00 rating today on Whoscored. not sure I've seen that before?!
  11. I'd just remove the words "holding defensive". Today he was playing more like the forward point of a diamond. He can play the holding role, but he's got more to his game than that
  12. Showed his intelligence today, crucial in 2 or 3 of the goals, most particularly the 1st. He seems to be a player who just has to play through dips in form. Dropped off in the last few games, but you keep him in and he finds his way back.
  13. Superb.. Don't think anyone would've imagined us leapfrogging Brighton today, required a 10 goal swing in GD! Watkins obv gets MOTM but lots of honourable mentions deserved: McGinn, Kamara, Diaby, Luiz in particular.
  14. Yeah he's doing fine. Unfortunate that the ref keeps buying Veltman's cheap dives or he could've been away on a couple of occasions.
  15. As enjoyable a first half as I can remember. Hopefully can just see a professional 2nd, keep a clean sheet. Noticeably better pressing today, Doug playing higher and Diaby/Watkins doing a lot more too. Can add Ramsey 2nd half to help keep it up. Kamara doing great job again in the middle cleaning things up. How Estupinan is not on a yellow is utterly bizarre. two cynical fouls. Luiz got a yellow in opening minutes for v little and has to play 80+ mins on a yellow. Estupinan could be off for 2 yellows but hasn't even been booked.
  16. Good to see Carlos and Traore on bench. Not so good that Ramsey and Moreno aren't there. Resting Digne makes sense though Donk unexpected. Guess would've been planning Lenglet there and he picked up late injury/illness? (perhaps sudden lack of him, Chambers, Ramsey suggests illness?) Everton gone strong and obv hoping to get Calvert Lewin into some scoring form after he got one at weekend. Our front 3 should cause them problems.
  17. Overall, very good performance I thought. We had more chances than them even before the red, and fought well in defence. Yes, Chelsea got in behind sometimes, but with their players they will do that against anyone. Palmer in particular looked quality when he came on. Kamara MOTM, best game of season from him. Really important interceptions. Martinez, Konsa, Pau all did good and Luiz as usual. Watkins didn't have a lot of impact first half but made the crucial one and won us the match. Zaniolo positive in first half. Given that we played away in Europe on Thurs, to get through that with a clean sheet and three points is excellent.
  18. Hopefully if nothing else this game will act as a wake up call for us in Europe. Whoever thought we would walk this tournament will see now that some of the teams in this competition no mugs. Legia pressed us well and exploited gaps with pace, and were organised/aggressive in defence. I don't think it was wrong to rotate a bit but there was probably too much newness in the team, not just that they are backups but the fact half the outfield players have barely started for us at all before. not a lot of positives, but good to see Ramsey back. Other than the missed chance, looked good.
  19. not good.Does have strong flavour of repeat of Newcastle with the early goal followed by the injury and being cut open way to easily too often. But we did have 2 good chances, one of them should've gone in.obv if they get next goal, it's over. Diaby is the one hope, if he could conjure something to get to 2-1, game could be on. Prob see Tielemans for Kamara soon as he's a risk on yellow.
  20. We definitely didn't play as high a line against Burnley, and could see a similar approach here. Bit more conservative but look to exploit on the break. Return or not of Martinez could be the difference.
  21. The only surprise here in Southgate terms is him not bringing in Sterling back, would've thought the slightest hint of form would be enough there (was also surprised by no Mount until saw he's injured) there is really no justification to pick Henderson after his retirement move and Phillips when he's not started a serious club game for over a year. We don't have great depth of options in DM/CM currently but surely, Ward-Prowse is much more justifiable. or you could look at someone like Curtis Jones.
  22. Good luck to him. I guess they may be trying him as a budget replacement for Beto who's just gone to Everton. Serie A clubs seem to like having a big guy up top (Lukaku, Abraham, Giroud etc). Obviously he's not in their league, particularly in goalscoring, but in the right system could be effective.
  23. Also might be a chance in certain matches he chooses to play Moreno higher up pitch so both he and Digne start.
  24. Very good overall. Burnley had spells in the 2nd where we did look a bit ropey but we showed resilience too. Not sure we've ever had a team with more quality on the ball than what we have now. Players who want to receive the ball to feet in tight spaces, players across the field all capable of picking passes. Zaniolo looks like will be great addition to that. Diaby looks a lot like Sadao Mane to me, that mixture of pace, directness but also great linkup play and calm clinical finishing. Think there will be a few clubs in the nominal top 6 kicking themselves for not going for him from the way he has started. Between Pau and Carlos, the latter looks more assured currently and if we go back to 2, it could be that Carlos-Konsa is the preference initially. Might take Pau a bit longer to get up to speed defensively, though you can see his quality on the ball. the late changes did seem to disjoint us a bit. Did Emery stick Cash LB purely to stop him making more attempts on the hattrick?!
