Good management tbf, keeping Ramsey, Coutinho, McGinn involved off the bench so they get some confidence from this game too. yeah agree with others Sanson and Archer on for a late run out would be nice final touch, prob could just bring on for Ings and Watkins

been quality. Kept it simple with passing, and put in interceptions/tackles where needed. Pairing nicely with Luiz to give solid base to midfield.

Total stopgap signing, but that's exactly what we need with the Carlos injury. Makes total sense to me, experienced in the league. Should be a step up on Konsa in current form. But equally Konsa/Chambers should be looking to fight for their spot ahead of him.

Second half wasn't completely terrible, but to essentially fluke yourselves an equaliser and then not manage to hold onto that for even 5 minutes is just pathetic. And we all will have been expecting it, because it happens so frequently. Conceding goal in first 5 mins, conceding within 5 mins of scoring, conceding 2 in quick succession - these are our special powers. I would bet our stats on those are worst in the league, probably worst in all the leagues. Something fundamentally wrong with this team that they are turned over so easily at those crucial points.

I just don't understand why you would have McGinn + Ramsey over Luiz here. Otherwise good to see Mings back, Buendia + Bailey starting. Still highly likely to get smashed by 4 or more.

Loan makes sense after his last season. You need a run of games after injury to get back to the level, but was there realistic chance of him getting that with Bailey/Ings/Watkins/Buendia/Coutinho competing for 3 places + Archer coming through. If he finds form, he could come back next year but in current team, he's not really what we're missing - we already have Coutinho and Bailey fulfilling the 'talented but inconsistent' role.

Just seems obvious that if he wants attacking full backs in Cash & Digne, you need to have 2 holding midfielders. McGinn and Ramsey not disciplined enough to help out when needed. We keep getting overrun on the right so Kamara being dragged out there but then you get chances like the Ayew one where he was completely free on the other side. Luiz on for Ramsey please. Buendia has been v.positive just need to get him on the ball more. We've had the lucky escape with the VAR (though arguably unlucky with possible pen shout just before equaliser - didn't see enough replay to be sure). Game is still there at 1-1 but Palace looked more likely. Mings has been good, Cash and Konsa struggled. Zaha is very tricky customer on his day. Least he got a yellow, can hope he might do something stupid 2nd half.

Yeah that was pretty poor all round. Got completely bullied physically throughout. Defence weak from set pieces. Attack had no idea against a back 5 who were happy to sit deep. Midfield were constantly 2nd to the ball. Early goal a big thing for confidence, but Bournemouth just looked more up for it throughout. Opening day can sometimes be a misleading one, but we gotta improve quick.

We gotta be the worst team in the world for conceding multiple goals in quick succession. As soon as City got 1, you knew it would be a matter of minutes for the 2nd. And it's been like this for years, so can't exactly put it on Gerrard subs, although Nakamba was a disaster today. Taking off Coutinho for a DM at 2-0 up away from home, is not an absurd thing to do. Coutinho does tire and you know Man City would come on strong. Just the DM that came on did not really offer the D you would expect.

Draw was about right overall though frustrating not to take it when we had the lead with 10 mins to go. Palace have the edge physically, not an easy side to play against. We were too wasteful in possession for large parts of the game. Seemed to come into it and play some good stuff toward the end. Definitely looked better with Buendia and Ramsey but they also had a bit more space as Palace were pushing forward more.

Did pretty well, had as many chances as them, just didn't take them, Ings in particular guilty there. Liverpool rode their luck a bit tbh, e.g. the Alisson slip up could easily have bounced differently or that late save fallen to Chuk to tap in. Though you know they always do have the players who can step up when they need a winner, if it wasn't Mane, it would've been Salah, or Diaz, or Jota.. Referee diabolical, if true he is retiring that is good news for my rage levels. Unfit for the job in every way. Gave Luiz MOTM, he was certainly standout on our side for first hour (their Luis was MOTM on their side, threatening whenever has ball at feet and made the winner). Buendia did v well when he came on. Digne was consistently good and Watkins continued upturn in form. Downsides player-wise were several ropey moments from both CBs, distribution from Martinez, finishing from Ings.

Nakamba's done pretty well given he's coming back in for his first start in a while. Iffy moments, but been getting in good interceptions. But yeah would bring him off soon. Plenty of options on bench. Emi for Coutinho before long too as Coutinho fades

3 wins on the bounce with 3 clean sheets and 9 goals, pretty much unheard of. Gerrard has hit on a nicely balanced lineup, by going back to the Watkins-Ings combo that didn't seem to work at all before. It's harsh on Buendia to be sitting on the bench when you can see the quality he brings when he came on. But fitting him and Coutinho in together is perhaps a bit too much luxury for most Premier League sides. Defence stuck to the job and were strong on set pieces so Leeds couldn't capitalise when they did get a spell of pressure early in 2nd, then the quality going forward showed. The fact we can have likes of Bailey and Traore unused and unneeded subs, and Buendia just a 15 min cameo, well we haven't been in that kind of position for years. Okay, only midtable and with a harder run of fixtures and a gap in points not much chance of finishing much higher, but good to feel we're going in the right direction.

Doing okay, but Watford disciplined in defence, might need to be a set piece or some piece of magic from Coutinho/Buendia. Danger Watford will snatch one on break and a super frustrating loss.

with Chambers in and once likes of Traore/Bailey back, I think it'll be Hause, Chambers and Young as the defensive cover on the bench and no space for Targett because Chambers & Young cover multiple positions. Ideal world, maybe you would hang on to Targett in case of a long-term injury to Digne, but in all likelihood Young's enough cover for the amount of season remaining and where we are (midtable and out of both cups).

Less said about first 30 mins the better! Big improvement second half, and team looked a lot more balanced once Coutinho came on. It's got to be him and Buendia starting behind either Ings or Watkins. Think Coutinho will like playing with Buendia. Ramsey stepped it up a lot in second, suspect he may have got some choice words for the first half showing, and it's a very good sign that he responded & provided key contributions. Digne is a clear upgrade on Targett going forward. Will make a big difference
