  1. agreed, he looked way out of his depth, delfouneso would've done a much better job What did he do so wrong in the five-ten minutes he was on for? He got us a corner that wasn't given, and QPR happened to score from the events following the goal kick. We'd have won the game if we got that corner. Albrighton could have played him in also for a better crack at goal. He picked up a position. Forgive me for saying so, but I found that he got in the right places, just didn`t know what to do beyond that. Sure, bringing the ball to the corner flag and holding can, in the eyes of some, be considered a skill. Maybe AM had told him to run down time though, which in itself is a different issue, as we should have had the game decided well before that.
  2. Strange to see all the compliments about the young austrian after yesterdays performance. I actually thought he looked a little lost and overwhelmed, but that`s just my opinion.....
  3. Nothing against a second hand skoda. Reliable and no frills attatched.....
  4. Why not let the man get on with his job? We have only had a few games into the season, and some here are already looking for the chop. Silly stuff.
  5. I remember him comming from the j-league, where he won 3 or 4 consecutive titles, but sure, he had been in Monaco before that...... Iirc, it was a bit of a shock at Highbury getting in a french manager comming from such a non-entity of a league at the time. But he did sign Bergkamp straight off, which was a massive bonus for the fans, and the club.
  6. Exactly. Point being with the way he came in it was already a very disjointed season, got worse, got better, but it is now over. Move on folks....
  7. We can and should beat the barcodes.... comfortably too. Looking forward to another clean sheet from us.
  8. Whatever tactical expectations some here may have, these players will need a couple of games to get it together....
  9. Except you dont know what McLeish will do. Don`t think anyone really knows just what he will do tbh. Good thing too. Traditionally we have always played our cards close to the chest, and there really is no reason to change that.
  10. Think you speak for many a Villa fan there, and the mention of him as to winning the Dutch league is really only a definition of standards. Didn`t even get 6 months together in the Bundesliga, which is admittedly a bit better than the Dutch League. Although Magath is not doing too well with Wolfsburg right now, but I`m sure he will end up stamping his totalitarian fist upon the proverbial table at some stage. Shame we were not in for Diego on loan (went to athletico Madrid, as he is out of favour), but, then again, a classy brazilian midfielder who is hungry to get into the national team may be a bit too much for us....
  11. You must consider that this is AM`s first go with a decent side in the prem, whereby Houllier was tried and tested long before.... Two very different managers here. A little unfair to draw comparisons.
  12. May be a mistake to pin too high hopes on these younger players, especially in the midfield positions. All very well and good for them to play well, score goals and create chances for the team in the reserves, but a regular starting place in the PL team is really another cup of tea. Not so much the technical ability, but the mental strength and concentration are asked for. Comming back from injury is another issue, and as someone mentioned, too much expectation can send the player backwards, as was the case with Delph last season.
  13. Hotels and football teams? Comparisons like fish and bicycles.....
  14. Talent there, yes. Worried about possible bad luck with injuries though. Needs a good run of games and we will see further.
  15. Yes, playing against Wolves for a top spot really is something quite unusual, isn`t it!
  16. bbiggest problem with NRC was that he could win the ball back, run forward with it, but then makes a fail pass, thus giving the opposition the space to play in behind him. Agreed, a bundle of energy though.
  17. Is he not now on two yellows after two games? If so it shows commitment, and the ability to get stuck in. On the other hand some would suggest it shows he`s too slow..... SDtill, agree with Pelle`s post, and also see him as a strong central link.
  18. Excellent stuff there, still have the League Table from the last time we were top ( Christmas 2000?). Doesn`t really say much afte two games though, does it? Glad we were able to take the game to them, although it really is one of the weaker sides we will meet through the season. Still dead chuffed though....
  19. I`m with mjames, not really my favourite, but hope for him, and us, that he can stay uninjured.Got the potential to be a massive player for us.
  20. Wow! amazed to see so many people go for overrated and overpaid ex keepers ( Given was really good in his time, Foster is good ). I think looking abroad may reveal some gems at a more reasonable price than we may find in the UK.
