  1. Sad when a club like ours are looking over their shoulder rather than looking forward.
  2. Was thinking back in Jan if this thread would hit the 1000 post mark. Now seems it will go way beyond that. Basicly 1000 odd posts about how negative our football has become....
  3. The linked interview is from an austrian newspaper, and they are famously rubbish. Still, at least he got some press in his home land. Has been one of the few things to cheer about this season.
  4. Maybe consolidation combined with wage reduction was/ is enough for the owners. Seems to have almost done that, and brought through some academy players into the front line. If only there was some feasable plan beyond that and making for a long term future it may be worth our support. But unfortunately, the football we are delivering right now does not suggest such. Not being relegated could secure his position at the club. Times of free flowing and exciting football are well and truly gone for the moment. Still leaves plenty of scope for an improvement. Sadly we may be stuck with this for some time.
  5. Certainly looked more solid of late. Not his biggest fan, but has hung on in there. So thumbs up here too.
  6. I also can see us staying up, like scraping the points toghether to reach a grand tally of 41 or so. Does not disguise the fact that we have played some pretty dire football this season, and our inability to hold on to a winning position is worrying indeed.
  7. Bottle of bushmills and a decent cuban cigar for me.
  8. Problem I see is that we have actually done okay considering reforming the squad, stability from the younger players, etc. Certainly cut the wage bill, and, despite injuries to some of our biggest assets, we have managed to present a competitive team week in week out ( almost). Downside to this is that the manager will be given another few years to consolidate and build upon that, whereby most people doubt the guy`s ability beyond what he has done so far. Being involved with managers who have relegation experience is always a bit of a dubious association. That with the Blues was really forgivable, as the club was in turmoil, whereby the way things have gone here is not encouraging at all.
  9. If that is Randy`s 5 year plan happening, then things are indeed pretty dire. The way we are playing right now we are at the level of Bolton and Wigan. Sad times indeed for Villa fans. Let us just get through the season and write it off asap. Big rethink in the summer methinks.
  10. Seasons in the PL are longer than the ones elsewhere Many other players from Europe have experienced difficulties adjusting to the PL.
  11. You would take 12th? Our main man McLiesh would happily take 15th according to the Guardian today. I personally would take 12th too. Whether we finnish 9th or 15th, it wont really matter much at all, seen from either a financial or moral point of view. Neckarstadion is better than Allianz though, at least they have an atmosphere and standing and it only costs 15€ including local transport for 50 odd Kilometers around the ground too. Shame the team are so shite though. Sometimes play like a bunch of schoolgirls. Bit like the current Villa team really..... Time to get points as soon as possible, Get rid of the season. Have a serious rethink about how this is going to work. As it is, relegation will be a dead cert. If not this year, then next.
  12. Irish or Swahili, it doesn`t really help the way they are playing right now. Half time were 2-0 down, and didn`t really impress so far.
  13. Just start believing in God,Budhah or Alla. That will make things much easier to comprehend and deal with...... Relegation is looming and we are not equiped to deal with it right now. welcome to away games at Rochdale and West Ham. Not easy, but comming up soon.
  14. Maybe relegation would be good for us considering our young up and commings and a will to win. We are not going to keep up with other teams who are actually showing some ambition.
  15. Have we had a game this season where we actually looked like we wanted to win? I cannot remember one. A few we were looking like hanging on to a lead, only to blow it in the last minutes ( think QPR), a suprise victory at Chelsea, a few games where we simply did not turn up (Man C., Arsenal). Maybe the Fulham game was such a one off, stealing victory in the dying moments of the game. After 30 odd games it looks like bad tactics more than inability. I hope we get a run of wins together soon, but does not look likely right now.
  16. Luck one way or the other, it simply does not disguise the fact that the football we are delivering this season is simply dire. As several have mentioned, we have blown away the simpler part of the season, so really it is our own fault that we are on the verge of being dragged into the relegation swamp. It is also notable that several teams down there are improving their performances, whereby ours currently stagnates. Getting to the point where a draw will not be enough to keep us above the relegation zone, whereby on paper our team is way too good for that.
  17. Yes, like many here my biggest gripe is not that he came from the sty, rather the negative or uninspiring footballing aproach taken to so many of his games in charge of most or many of the teams he has lead. Was actually rather uprised that he went to the blues at all, and never did they deserve him, but the boring football on display may be intended to win and consolidate position, but it just does not work. Lacks either experience or a plan. Don`t know what we have done to deserve this dire football at the mo.....
  18. Good player, and definately wanted a move to a decent league. Glad to have him.
  19. Silly comparing the two really, as they play a completely different style. As for the drab football point, well Liverpool were the most boring team ever when they won te european cup on a string. Chelsea were extremely bopring when they won the league under the special one, and so forth. Playing exciting football has little to do with winning titles (long way from our ambitions I`ll admit).
  20. How come it was so predictable that we would not end up winning this afternoon? Not even nail-biting finnish stuff, rather a question as to when the equaliser would come.... Shocking really.
  21. Sorry, not that good any more, and prone to injuries. Who is going to supply him? Best time was at HSV not Bayern
  22. The theisis about selling up just does not fit when considering the performances and league positioning, unless, of course, he wants to sell up at a dumping price. Surely anyone would choose to hype the club up the table to get a decent price, even though the original buying price was vastly undervalued. As for McCliesh being manager next season, I just cannot see it. Still, was able to get rid of some expensive dead wood.
  23. Stop it lads, it`s just a piece of plastic. really not worth arguing about. Main thing that it is claret and blue, and worthy of our club. We would have more concerns as to the sponsor. Rather leave out the chinese gambling stuff to be honest. Worse was Muller back in the 90's. Known quite well to be sponsoring the NPD as well (an old german version of the EDL). Bad stuff.
  24. Would also like to see McLiesh as England manager before the weekend, protests would turn into celebrations. Can`t see it happening, but the way we do things, I wouldn`t discard a chance of our winning on Sunday. Would be quite funny that one.
  25. Would be interesting to see how the reaction is if we beat Man City, unlikely I know, but we did it last season as well when noone expected it to happen. Perfect debut for Darren Bent too.
