I'm not so sure on survival. I still think there's a good chance we'll go down. It's in our hands which is good.... If our atmosphere at Villa Park is similar to that yesterday I think it will give us a great chance of survival.

Well their fans certainly aren't happy. One of MON's biggest attribute is his man-management and getting average players giving 110% for him. This Sunderland team do not seem to be playing for him in that way. I don't know if that's MON's fault or the players' fault. But the lack of tactical awareness is defintely MON's fault. I think the game has moved on too much to play the MON way. His methods are just so outdated now.

I thought the lad had a good game. Was very neat and tidy but we lacked creativty with him on the pitch. I think for now he must just be nervous and he's doing the simple things and not risking making a mistake like Bennett did. I can see why he'd do that as every goal we concede is so crucial now. I imagine we will see a more expansive side to his game if/when we're safe.

I thought he was quiet today by his usualy high standards. He seemed to try and pull on the full backs a bit more as he was losing the battle with Samba. Still got the vital goal and took it well. Genuinely believe it's in his best interest to stay for 1 more season.

I don't think Gabby goes to defenders to get marked at all. I think he just really is a pretty dumb footballer and doesn't know how to move on the pitch. It's something that obviously doesn't come naturally to him and I don't think he reads the game very well. Unlike a player like Suarez who's constantly on the move picking up the ball in any pocket of space he can get himself into. Gabby is an athlete first and footballer second. I think Lambert needs to tell him he needs to just do the simple things and start running the channels a bit more. It's a simple way to attack as it drags defenders about and he's got pace to beat them. That's when he's most effective IMO.
