This is just dumb. If you think he knocked it up to Gabby with the intention of Gabby knocking it down to Benteke and then Benteke shooting first time then he didn't. What he did intend to happen was to play a ball forward and one of our strikers getting on the end of it. A "hoof" to me implies when a player just wacks it up the pitch James Collins style to clear the ball. Westwood did not do that. It was a ball intended to go to one of our players, that is not a "hoof".

That's a nonsense thing to say. They're 3 places off the relegation spots. Saying a loss next week will relegate them is nonsense. Realistically they could lose both games they have left and still stay up. Wigan aren't Barcelona, they're down there for a reason, and they're every bit as likely to lose their next 3 than any other combination of results Not really. I can quite easily see Wigan picking up 4 points. 1 win and 1 draw is hardly out of their reach considering they are playing Swansea, Arsenal and Villa. They come alive at the time of year, it's no coincidence they do it every year. I certailnly do not see Norwich getting anything at Citeh.... so for me, if they don't get at least a point next week, they are gone. Though, we'll know more on Tuesday night i guess.

If Norwich don't get at least a point against the Baggies next week they are down IMO.

I'm not feeling safe yet at all. We could easily pick up 4 points in the next two games, but we could also easily pick up 0. Norwich are the team for me who look most likely to drop. But I'm still feeling far from safe.

Just back from the game. Great win, which was what mattered. Gabby was fantastic. I'm sure you've all commented on that. I'd like to say a big fair play to the Norwich fans. During the clap for Petrov, all four corners of the crowd were clapping. We gave them a round of applause after. They're a good bunch and it would be a shame to see them go down. Bassong had Benteke in his pocket today, if Norwich do go down, I wouldn't mind us signing that Bassong. Not safe yet, but we're doing everything we can to get there.

Wouldn't it just be typical of Villa if we did become safe and retain our Premier League status, then Lerner/Faulkner were to sack Lambert in a similar way to McLeish saying that the results were not good enough. (Let's face it, the results have not been much of an improvement over McLeish's reign) Whilst I don't think that would happen, I wouldn't be shocked if it did.

I don't think I'd take 30m for him. I'm sick of us selling our best players. If the wage bill is low enough to be self sustainable, and the new TV money means we can go out and buy a few players, let's just stop selling our best players and build around them instead. But more importantly, if Benteke actually wants to stay here for a season, then we should really encourage that! It would send quite a message to potential signings.

Yeah I don't think anyone is going into the Norwich game thinking it's going to be easy. It won't be, but, it's a great opportunity for us to pretty much be safe. Lambert wont let the players be over confident, I can't see the players going into this thinking it's going to be easy, in fact, i'm sure they will all be giving everything they have to secure safety. I don't see us putting in a performance like Sunderland did.

There's a difference between being cocky and being confident. I don't see anyone being cocky at all. But we're a team who are capable of scoring goals, and Norwich are struggling to score goals. With the added thought that two of their centre backs might be injured. I'm feeling confident.

Seems Newcastle losing Ba was much bigger than I originally thought. Isn't he still their top goalscorer this season? For however good the goals Cisse scores, he doesn't seem to score simple ones consistently.
