You should add: "in good health". What I fear is the combination of old age and serious infirmity (especially Alzheimers, which my dad had). If that's the future, I'd rather check out early with a quick heart attack. My grandma had Alzheimer's as well - something similar anyway, she was very senile - and I often pitied her for having to live in such a state. But I do wonder sometimes, is being senile really that bad for the patient him/herself? If you were sufficiently senile, you wouldn't be able to recall traumatic events, and you wouldn't begrudge anyone for losing your ability to read, because you wouldn't even have the desire to. Ignorance is bliss, right? This was true of my nan, whilst at first it was hard for her eventually she knew no different and seemed mainly happy. Whereas my granddad kept his mental health and suffered with almost everything bar cancer.

That is weird that's exactly what is happening to my dads right now. He's hoping it's just a wheel bearing but the noise seems a little worse to me.

I fear suffering and disability. Death saddens me because of who I'll leave behind and knowing for a period of time they will be sad.

Remember, the good times don't last forever, 'this too shall pass', things that go up must come down. It's something worth remembering, sometimes. It can open your eyes to a different perspective. Ever since this proverb was mentioned in the tattoo thread it really hit home to me. When I feel down or being a bit selfish and feeling sorry for myself regarding my stroke I find it very soothing and sobering, In fact I decided to have it tattooed on my chest in mirrored text so that when I do find myself staring into the abyss of a mirror its there for me to see. Some may think i'm a bit of a dick for doing it but it really helps me.

My dads next door neighbour has one and I believe he doesn't like it. Also have an ex school friend who swapped one for a Tiguan that she prefers. Depends on how much you want to spend and whether you're bothered about how frugal it is too.

Buying houses is great if near the latter end of your life you can enjoy that equity or at least pass it on to your siblings before the government gets hold of it. Renting whilst considered by many a waste I see it as part of living costs and mostly a better quality of life. You can almost always get a better place to rent than buy. In my twenties I rented for 5 yrs a lovely penthouse property, there's no way I could afford that and I very much enjoyed myself even though I wont see that money again. Now I'm in my mid thirties and I'm in the very lucky position of owning my house but if I was in a similar situation as I was in my early twenties I'd most definitely rent again.
