  1. I suppose some would and some wouldn’t. Just as some Tory voters won’t care whether Sunak was brown, blue or green. It’s fun to generalise and I suspect there’ll definitely be some Tory voters to whom the meme will apply. All the best comedy at someone’s expense is funny because there’s a nugget of truth in it.
  2. Define loving your country though? What does that even mean? Wanting us to do well at sport? Loving a flag? In what way? You like the colours or the design. What does that even mean?
  3. Don’t be ridiculous. Of course it’s not inherently bad to “support” your country, but that comes in many forms. There’s a good side of nationalism which is wanting the absolute best for your country and generally wanting it to be a great place to be and what some of these people want. A place where your national identity is defined by a few very narrow minded characteristics and basically being against anyone who doesn’t “fit” that idea. The SNP are a case in point. They clearly want the best for their country and have an idea of how to make that happen. From what I’ve seen they’re against the idea of union with England and Wales but not actually against English people. I don’t see many Scottish people advocating to close their southern border or an English family who move to Scotland and have a child born in Scotland that their child isn’t Scottish. I don’t doubt there are some in that camp who have tipped over into “bad nationalism” though but from what I’ve seen they seem to be the exception rather than the rule.
  4. I think we all know people like that caller. They’re people who don’t actually think they’re being/are racist but they’ve been so brainwashed by the constant headlines about terrorists, people getting off dinghy’s, brown people doing bad things, that they’ve decided that being brown and British are incompatible. It’s pure English nationalism plain and simple. A force that’s been growing in our country for years now. The reality is that we all know that person considers themselves a “patriot” and that he “loves his country” but in truth has no idea what that means other than loving the monarchy, shagging a flag and hating on brown people.
  5. I said this to the Mrs yesterday. The wheels on the plane had barely touched down before he/his camp were lying. He just can’t help himself.
  6. They need to go for Poch and be seen doing it as well or else It'll show a lack of ambition. If we end up with Thomas Frank having been turned down by Poch/Emery etc then the fans will be much more forgiving.
  7. Yep. Time for those Tories to start putting the country before their own and their party's interest.
  8. Why would he quit his £84,000 per year job as a backbench MP when he doesn't have to turn up or do anything?
  9. Has anyone managed to ask Johnson what he thinks about coming back? Surely from a purely financial point of view it's not in his interest now be can go make thousands on the speaking cicuit? Has he even been to parliament since he got dumped? He doesn't strike me as the "forgive and forget" type either, quite the opposite. Also, if you were the "unity candidate", and I'd heard Ben Wallace's name mentioned, what's the advantage of taking over as captain of a ship that's clearly going down?
  10. They can do it if they can all agree on someone to stand behind. The question then is "what then?". So May takes over as PM, do they then have another long drawn out Tory XFactor where they'll tear strips off each other and we get a PM from one side of the party and the other then goes ballistic like now. Or even worse, we get someone even less competent than Truss, because we've just proved that the Tory golf-club-member types clearly can't be trusted to elect someone remotely credible. Does May stay and fight an election? It's all just such a **** mess. It'll only be sorted by a GE, which the Tories will not allow for another 18 months because they know they'll get massacred. Utterly selfish. I really hope the country doesn't forget what these scumbags have done. Also, I was thinking about this earlier today. We've technically not had a government in 2022 at all. They spent Q1 talking about all the parties they had and defending sexual predators, Q2 holding a talent show for posh pricks and Q3 destorying the economy and each other.
  11. So Liz dodges the urgent question because she’s got something super important and super secret that no one can know about. Turns up for the speech by her new chancellor, answers no questions and quickly exits before any can be asked back to the super secret bunker. Any amusing guesses what the super secret and super important “thing” is? It could be like the wizard of oz but she’ll need “all of the above” won’t she? Courage, a brain and a heart!
  12. There's no better way to test in a hypothetical future war against Iran than to supply Ukraine weapons right now.
  13. So the big question that was asked when he took over... Has he done enough to get the Liverpool job when Klopp eventually leaves?
  14. They're in office but not power. Let's just expand on that for a second. The party that won the last election by 80 seats cannot get it's agenda through.
  15. Tbf she's doing precisely the thing that she said she would do in that ridiculous "contest" that all the other "candidates" said was unworkable fantasy. I don't see how they can back out of it all and not either resign immediately or have an election to try and provide a mandate for financial seppuku.
  16. It's a question of ambition. The club could go out and get a Poch if they were willing to pay him what he wants and promised the transfer investment he needs. I don't look at Purslow and think he's to blame for the mess we find ourselves in. He's not the one sending the players out week after week playing this wanky narrow formation, he's not the one that stripped Mings of the cptaincy and gave it to McFraud and he's putting everyone to sleep with the slow dour football we're currently playing.
  17. Ordinarily I'd agree with this but the problem at the moment isn't the players, it's the system. We're sending various combinations of players out to play in the same structure every week that just isn't working. A new manager might be willing to try something different. At this point Gerrards either stubbornness or arrogance has become an obstruction to any kind of change.
  18. There’s also two possible outcomes to bringing it into the conversation. Either 1. Both examples are racist and we should all refrain from wearing make up to appear as another race because after all two wrongs definitely don’t make a right. Or 2. Neither example is racist and presumably it’s fine to go around blacking up in this way. I’d be interested to know which camp OP falls into.
  19. This will definitely turn the polls in their favour. The public definitely won’t see this for what it is. Utter cowardice so we’ll make exceptions for the Tories because rules are for other people, not for them.
  20. I know what they’re trying to do but it’s just getting a bit repetitive for me the whole “oh Jens dating again this week”. It’s not meant as some kind of criticism of young professional women going out, dating and having sex. Only that to me the writers are doing that every week and it’s beginning to bore me…except the week when she’s dating
  21. I’ve been enjoying she hulk much more than I expected to. The latest one was very good if only for this weeks cameo I do think the series has a problem with every weeks story line being about Jen/She-Hulks love life. Maybe it’s that way in the comics, I don’t know, but I just think it’s a bit lazy to reduce each episode to “what’s Jens vagina up to this week”. It’s getting a bit repetitive and mildly insulting for me now.
  22. It won’t be one result that sacks Gerrard. This team under his ineptitude are capable of hitting a run like Smith did over that Christmas period where we lost 4 or 5 games against teams around us and in this league you run out of winnable games fast if you do that. It’s as much an exercise in keeping the points total just ticking over by not going on a losing run of half a dozen games or so.
  23. Their manager was 100% correct in everything he said after the game. We play at a snails pace and our game plan was to annoy, frustrate and waste time from the first minute as if we are vastly inferior to the opposition. Unacceptable. We limp on. Hopefully they’ll use the international break to make a change of manager.
