  1. Must must must take a point. We've been the better side so far overall. We just need to find the net
  2. YYYYYEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS GGGGABBBBYYYY!!! Come on boys keep the pressure up!
  3. I'm going to place a bet on us going down to cushion the blow.
  4. Was Jericho big at the time then? I remember watching all that when I was younger but I had no idea who Jericho was either. Jericho was the guy who basically started me watching WWF when he moved over from WCW. He was basically a cruiserweight and television champion contender in WCW. He didn't really get anywhere near the heavyweight title at any stage, which is why he left, but he was probably the best dude on the microphone in the whole company. He was the first heel I ever liked as a kid. Basically, he feuded with Dean Malenko who called himself the man of 1000 holds, and started calling himself the man of 1004 holds and I found that hilarious. The cruiserweight division was the best wrestling in WCW, and Jericho was great with the lion tamer and moonsaults etc. He was fantastic as a heel or face. I'd followed the WWF a little bit until then, but I only really started watching regularly when Jericho, Benoit and Guerrero moved over.
  5. I've batted a lot more so i'll talk about that first. If you try to spank everything for 6 you'll get out very quickly, especially in the early parts of your career mode. You don't have to block, but you will have to just knock the ball around and take singles and twos. If you try and drive short balls outside off, you'll edge the ball. You'll get yourself out a lot but you'll barely ever feel like you've been hard done by, it's always your fault (except for runouts). I get out quite a lot because they've spread the field and I can only push singles, and I get impatient. You use your left stick for footwork and your right stick to make the shot. There is no radar on the pitch where the ball is going to land. There will be a red ring around the ball when it's released if it's short, green if it's a good length, and yellow if it's full. You just eyeball the line. It's very hard to do anything but plant your front foot early, but you get a lot better with play. Bowling I haven't done as much of because my career player is an opening bat, but you use your sticks again. Right stick for line and length (with release time determining length), and left stick for swing/spin/cut etc. Bowling is a little overpowered at this stage compared to batting, but apparently that will be patched.
  6. I don't like the idea of pinstripes. Can someone post me one pinstriped kit from anywhere in the world that is nice? I mean it depends on what we're talking about really. The new England away kit is absolutely gorgeous. But if we're talking about these sorts of pinstripes... then they look really 90s the vast majority of the time. I guess we can pray for this sort of thing: But i'm not hopeful, because pinstripes makes it sound more like it's going to be one of the middle ones.
  7. I'm not expecting someone of Ellison's wealth, but if Randy still owns the club at the start of next season i'll be shattered. The fanbase needs the positivity of a new owner, even if that owner isn't going to instantly Man City us.
  8. I'm sure it will be Macron as well, but I also found it staggering that they aren't mentioned at all in this press release.
  9. He's so inconsistent but he's scored some absolutely crucial goals for Villa over the years and obviously bleeds claret and blue. Even if we had a magical takeover and were spending hundreds of millions on the squad, I would be really sad to see him go, moreso than any other player.
  10. When they win the title there will be literally nothing you can say to them to make them feel bad about being a Liverpool fan. They've been of the opinion that their club is the best club in Europe basically forever and the "YNWA" "Stevie G best leader of his generation" "Justice for the 96" "The world owes us" "Best fans in the world" "Black armbands" "Omg TORRES best striker in Europe" "Omg SUAZEZ best striker in Europe" horseshit that has been a simple regular annoyance for 2 decades will become a tsunami of insufferability that the football world has never seen before. Their fans are going to be absolutely unbearable. Anyone but Liverpool. We're talking about a supporter base who has spent 25 and years and counting treating Hillsborough as if it were the Holocaust in an effort to prevent anyone blaming the Liverpool fans who were at the very least partly at fault for the crush.
  11. Just after I posted the above I broke through for an 87 and man of the match in a first class match. Passing that 50 mark was incredibly satisfying. It was a shame to miss out on the ton but I felt genuinely in control all innings.
  12. I'm half way through the 4th year of my career, although i'll have to start again soon because they're releasing a patch. That's fine, because i'm basically the worst cricketer in the world at the moment and I need a fresh start! I've pushed my scores up a bit. I have a top score of 45 (on which I spooned a drive to mid off), and i'm usually getting into the teens or twenties before getting out. Basically shotmaking is all about timing, as simple as that sounds. I've been working a lot on getting my timing right and not getting impatient and trying to slap a four, and it's been paying dividends. I basically park myself on the front foot at this stage to keep things simple, which makes it more difficult to play short balls, but you can still effectively pull and cut from the front foot. You really get a sense of satisfaction when finally making some runs. I'm really enjoying it.
  13. Which we majorly screwed up the first time we had the opportunity. Early 90s, early 00s and late 00s. We don't ever take chances. As for an English consortium, I don't think so. It's really frustrating to look at the last 25 years and see a few times when we really were on the cusp of becoming a top side, and the owner blinked and stopped investing. It showed a shocking lack of foresight by both owners in that time IMO. To think that we finished 2nd in the inaugural year of the PL and in 95-96, we finished 4th, made the FA cup semi final and won the league cup. Barring a lucky cup run, doing any one of those things these days is a fantasy, let alone all three.
  14. Cena's wrestling is a relatively minor issue compared to him having the most boring character in the history of the WWE to spend a decade as a main eventer. The fans haven't cared about him for years and the WWE just stick their fingers in their ears and pretend he's another Rock or Stone Cold. He needs a heel turn.
  15. FFP is a **** joke and I hate it. It's glass ceiling bullshit. I can't believe it was voted for. The quicker it's challenged in court and overturned, the better
  16. Exactly. I get the same sense of wanting another shot at the ball that got me out that I do in real life.
  17. I just spat my oats everywhere and it was only the first line. Quality
  18. Apart from the runout bugs that will soon be patched, I've been at fault every time I've gotten out through poor timing, shot selection, or execution. I've improved a bit since that post but it's still very difficult Hard to learn, harder to master
  19. Okay i've spent a few hours in career mode this morning as a bat, having only bowled a few overs. First impressions: - Wow it's absolutely brutal The learning curve is an absolute cliff. A lot of the time you stuff up and get out. Sometimes you do nothing wrong and get miraculously caught and bowled. It feels like real cricket in that sense. - There are some frustrating issues. Bowlers are brick walls and are basically impossible to drive past. Railgun armed fielders combined with the lack of bat sliding means ridiculous runouts happen all the time. I think they are patching this but it's frustrating as hell. There's no urgency when you cancel a run either so every 2nd game you or your partner will be run out meandering back to your crease after a cancelled run. - The player creation has the best face moulding tools I have ever seen in a videogame. It even smashes the WWE games out of the park. Usually with this sort of thing, regardless of how deep the creation is, every face has a similar look to it. Not in this game. You can make anyone dead on. I really wish I could export my career mode character to a general created player some how, because it is the spitting image of me, it's amazing. - Obviously graphics take a back seat to gameplay, but it looks gorgeous. It looks and feels like cricket when you are playing. - The stick based batting is the best thing that has ever happened to a cricket video game. It will make the game endlessly replayable. Brilliant. This is the greatest cricket game of all time. It's also presented really beautifully.
  20. Sting only turned heel after WCW took their nosedive. I don't remember Foley as a heel but I'm. sure he was earlier on. A really charismatic presence can do both heel and face equally well and still be incredibly popular, look at the Rock and Austin. I know it's not a fair comparison but the only current big name who can do heel or face really well is CM Punk and he's gone.
  21. Cena needs a heel turn/character change more than any wrestler in the history of wrestling has needed a heel turn/character change. Even when his gimmick was new a decade ago it was the most boring mary-sue piece of garbage ever.
  22. Holy crap this is great. Now scouring ebay... I feel like I could pull this off even as a 27 year old man who hasn't watched Wrestling regularly in like 7 years.
