  1. Who said he was? Sacking a manager like MON after one game into the season would make us the laughing stock of football. Let's not follow the Spurs/Newcastle model. We need to keep our nerve FFS - it's only one game into the season. People has been talking about all 2009! You keep on nagging about one game! It is 18 games and two wins...MANY managers would´ve got the sack with that statistics...and add that to the fact on how the team looked yesterday. Why do people think we be Newcastle and Spurs all of a sudden? Are you kidding yourself to believe MON is the only solution for Villa? I'm not 'nagging on' about anything pal, I've ony posted twice in this thread. If you think it's a good idea to sack the manager tomorrow, one game into the season with the transfer window still open, then fair enough. But then you should also have an opinion on who is available to come in and do a better job?? So who?? Many is suitable to be fair but I named Guus Hiddink as one...(now people will minimize Aston Villa and say that I am an idiot to think he will join..but that is my opinion that Hiddink could be a reasonable manager for Villa). Is he realistically available though? If he was, he would be Chelsea manager now. He is Russian boss, and isn't he also some kind of technical director at Chelsea as well? So, who is AVAILABLE and could come in and do a better job?

  4. Been busy all weekend and so I haven't even seen highlights of the game, but from readng VT it sounded like a right horror show. Disastrous start ot the season losing to Wigan at hime, MON obviously needs to take a long hard look at things this week and hopefully get some quality players in for area where we are obviously lacking. But to get rid of him based on the first game of the season would not be a logical decision. If we are struggling at the wrong end of the league in October, then this will be a debate worth having.
  5. Best we can hope for is fifth probably. I think Everton could struggle to match last season, and City are an totally unknown quantity at the moment. Spurs, well they're just Spurs.
  6. No. he wasn't good enought first time around. I understand why peopel liked him, and I liked him when he was here. But affection for him shouldn't blind us to the fact that he wasn't consistent enough.
  7. Great pre-season. Hope we can carry into the league campaign. Team must be pretty high on confidence. Delighted to hear that Delph looked the bizniss.
  8. not forgetting the first Street lights and the first hole in the whole cash dispenser Correct Tony - what a place eh! :winkold:
  9. Not racist, just ugly. WTF is it??
  10. Better to have MON back in the UK anyway, on the spot to sign players left right and centre.
  11. We were poor, but let's not panic just yet. The line-up will be very different for the kick-off v Wigan. Some promising performances from Lichaj and Allbrighton. Bad error from Friedel. NRC looked pish. And Sidwell wasn't much better. These two owe us a big season, particularly Sidwell, and tthey need to pull their socks up.
  12. Poor performance. Meaningless really, but still poor.
  13. Reo Coker has looked shocking. When the ball's at his feet he looks like he's never seen a football before. And his passing!
  14. They make you feel great. That's the problem.
  15. Barton and Ferguson will represent the most brain-dead midfield partnership in the history of the game. Another record tumbles to Small Heath....
  16. I Wanna Hold Your Hand by ever-popular 60s beat combo The Beatles.
  17. Wecome back General. Great to hear you are fighting fit again.
  18. Why are Queen and Big Country not on the poll? VT's favourite two bands - both guilty pleasures.
  19. Owen Coyle's a top fella. I hope they come up.
  20. Why no Sopranos in the vote?? Best TV show ever. EDIT: Just read the thread and I'm glad to see ender has been taken thoroughly to task over this terrible oversight :winkold:
  21. I'm kind of looking forward to seeing something different iin our midfield. We need a change in this position. We're not mobile enough and don't pose any goal threat from this area. Looking forward to seeing Joey Barton in the claret and blue ;-)
