  1. If he does not sign at least an 18 month contract in January, I think he should be sold. We can now manage without him and should not keep him to go on a free in the summer.
  2. Would be a decent signing on a free, but if he wants to go elsewhere, not really bothered.
  3. Lambert seems to be saying that we have him on loan until the summer and will talk to him then. It reads to me like he is intending to sign him on a free. Seems to be indicating that the fee agreement was for a January transfer.
  4. Unfortunately, it may still have affected the result, and that cannot be undone. Football so needs a video ref.
  5. I think there would have been questions to be answered if he had played any of those three at centre back when Okore was clearly fit to play. Indisputably he did not play him until he was forced to by injuries.
  6. We could certainly make more use of his speed, keeping him up at corners as previously mentioned, running the channels, etc., but I do think he should be used more sparingly, in particular circumstances where these abilities can be utilised, and also as a sub against tiring defences.
  7. We could just keep him for the length of his contract, and refuse all offers. Even a dissatisfied Benteke would be better than most strikers we would be able to sign. He might well feel some loyalty to us for giving him his break. Also he might not want to damage his reputation by refusing to play. He is so important to us, I think this might be an occasion where we should stand firm.
  8. You have it spot on, Bobzy. I have been a supporter since 1956, and count myself very lucky to have experienced many good times, as well as the lows. But I love it when we win and accept it when we lose. I would not want to be like all these plastic fans who expect to win. I do not think they get the same level of excitement as we get with just not knowing what can happen. So a massive `no' from me. The money has killed the Premier League, but not my enthusiasm.
  9. I may be wrong, but he seems to be commenting on maintaining his position on the team, and then later on what the team can achieve this season. Nothing about him staying or going. Usual nasty journalism, twisting what has been said to create effect.
  10. I know he is out on loan at the moment, but surely Donacien would be a better back up for Hutton than Lowton.
  11. I think this is the second time Lambert has changed his mind about how to proceed. First `young and hungry' now `style of play'. Admirable in some ways, but disconcerting that it has taken so long.
  12. Half the season gone and we are on 20 points. We have not played particularly well overall, so it should not be difficult to achieve the same total in the second half of the season to reach safety.
  13. This seems remarkable. He has been good, but not, I would have thought, good enough to attract interest from other clubs.
  14. think people do forget Delph failed loan spell at Leeds But Gardner hasn't shown anything at all, at least we knew Delph could do it in the first team at a club in league one. Gardner, going by what Brighton fans say, seems lost. I think the two years he has lost through injuries have cost him his career at the highest level unfortunately. Or perhaps just been over-hyped, and was never really going to make it.
  15. The last couple of performances have been excellent, although I think he needs to stop using Agbonlahor and Nzogbia, who do not add sufficient to deserve inclusion. But Lambert needs to keep up this standard of performance to convince doubters like me. I will be very happy if he can do that. It almost looks like he is starting to find his feet in the Premier League. And I do not mean that in a derogatory manner.
  16. Begs the question why it took him this long to change things, but I'm not complaining. It really does and it seems such a strange point. You'd think something like that would be implemented during a pre season where it can be worked on. Like you say i'm not complaining because this is what i've wanted to see. I believe this team is capable of playing better than we have for the last 3 years and it's nice to see some attempt to now do that. Agree with this. Does seem strange to change things at such a random point of the season. Possibly the change in coaching staff, and Lambert being more hands on? If it works, however, all to the good.
  17. Would not touch him at that price. Remarkable how dynamic our midfield was yesterday with Delph, Sanchez and Weimann (not even a midfielder), and with Cleverly and Westwood not involved. Coincidence? I think not.
  18. For whatever reason, he has lost what talent he had. Now looks quite clueless.
  19. After a shaky start, he now looks terrific. We should take a chance on him by extending his contract now and increasing his salary. i think this is a chance that would not fail, considering his age.
  20. Three out of the squad, but two back in? This looks like rubbish journalism. And Lambert seldom plays Grealish and Robinson.
  21. I was so disappointed to lose at the weekend, what was a nailed on win. But this is Villa. Would not be surprised if we beat ManU. And definitely not surprised if we lose to them as usual.
  22. Did we ever replace Kevan Mc Donald? We seem to have been losing a lot of our young hopefuls since he left. For a much-vaunted academy like ours, a top class academy coach is required. Do we actually have one, and if not, could this be the reason why some of our young players have not kicked on? Any comments from some of you guys who would be familiar with our youth setup would be appreciated.
  23. Being Hutton, I doubt it is fear of Di Maria, however it works ok to not play against ManU, whom we seldom beat, and will be there for the easier games.
