  1. Well, due diligence can drag on for months, so it would be unreasonable to expect all activities to be suspended for that duration.
  2. A lot of the adverse reaction on here seems to be about the £65,000/week. Do we know if that is figure is correct?
  3. Absolutely nothing to suggest they will change the manager straight away though. We don't even know who these new owners are. In that case absolutely nothing to suggest that they won't. History suggests they are likely not to.
  4. You cannot really look at it that way, though, unless you also want to consider the number of sitters other teams missed against us? Then there are the one on ones we missed? And late goals count the same as early goals, no matter what stage of the game the trick is to keep the ball out of the net. My point? Swings and roundabouts, it is as it is.
  5. Why would spurs do that when the 32.5m would activate the release clause? That post was in reply to a suggestion that we should accept £20M plus Dembélé and Townsend. If Tottenham want to fob us of with players that they don't want then so be it, but they still have to meet the release clause. If they meet the release clause without offering the players then fair enough. All I'm saying is that I'd want £32M from them. They only have to meet the release clause. Why on earth would they give us two players for nothing? Why don't you understand this? Why can't you understand that I'm not saying that if Tottenham offer us £32M and activate the release clause, we should refuse the bid and insist they give us an extra two players. I'm saying if they offer us £20M and a few players we should reject the bid and tell them that the release clause is £32M if they then want to offer us players too then that's up to them. Ok, Useless - I give up.
  6. The thing is, P3te, I can understand the Burnley match, but we were not safe for the Southampton match, so that match, and the cup final, we should certainly have been up for, so that is a worry for me.
  7. I really cannot see anyone meeting the release clause. And I also do not think we will sell for less.

  9. This is the most likely scenario, but it would possibly keep us up. And we did beat City, Spurs, Liverpool and Everton.
  10. Well he must have known why we were anchored to the bottom of the Premier League for the last few seasons, so will either have agreed a budget policy or decided he can work within the same restraints.
  11. I think he needs Clark with him marshalling the defence. Both young enough to form a decent first choice pairing for the future.
  12. No, `going' is not specific enough. And how else could it be construed but ITK? And he has posted `going' on the N'Zogbia thread as well. Is he just going to post that on every thread in the hope that he will be right at some point.
  13. The club is not in limbo, though, they have pretty much said nothing is going to happen soon, so the management team will not be distracted by that.
  14. The noises from the club indicate to me that no takeover is imminent.
  15. This to me is his problem. Has been unable to adapt to the speed of the Premier League.
  16. He was part of that performance, and most of the other players played better than him. Bear in mind that he is supposed to be the main man.
  17. I think he is a useful player to have around at very little cost. Should be a lot of others out the door before him.
  18. It's a game mate. Just a game.... Yep. After this season nothing hurts me anymore. I've come to accept we are just making up the numbers, loyalty is dead, the top four are what matters and anything else is just there to keep those teams afloat. Absolutely. The rest of us are only here in order that they can maintain a Premier League. And everything is skewed to make sure that they maintain their top positions. You will think it is the musings of an old guy, but oh for the good old days of a level playing field.
  19. Just like Ellis would NEVER take the European Cup Winners and dismantle the squad and relegate us with his penny pinching ways - OK right I must have dreamed it all and that never happened - we actually never got relegated under Ellis and he never penny pinched and sold our best players to fund others rather than put a single penny of his own money to buy a player. OK I was wrong about him all this time! Ellis being poor isn't a good defence of Lerner, just as Lambert being poor, doesn't mean Sherwood's errors are less so. It was not meant to be a defence of Lerner. It was just correcting what Spoony posted, which was clearly wrong.

OK I was wrong about him all this time! Good post, Naz. Saved me having to write it.
  21. The 10m you postulate we lose could be offset by him having a great season though. Plus the release clause won't reduce just because a year has passed Keeping him would make a massive difference to the club and next season, and not just financially, but how we and others view the club. And the release clause remains the same. The only way we will not get that is if Benteke himself pushes a move through.
  22. Why do people on here dislike this guy so much? Honest question. He is skilful, fast, agressive can run with ball and can shoot from distance. I know his isn't hazard but that's why he is a good target for us The same reason people didn't like Sherwood before he joined us. Because he's at Spurs, because the media overrate him and because he's 'average'...... (Unlike the mighty European Cup winning Aston Villa who are anything but average!) /sarcasm I've never watched Townsend other than in Villa games, MOTD & England highlights, so I'm not an expert on him, but I'd take him at Villa. He seems better than what we currently have, and I imagine he'd make more of an impact for us than Gabby and N'Zogbia do. This. And there must be a number of attainable players who would do the same.
  23. Agree with what you say, Harry, but only 2 owners, and it was Doug Ellis for most of that time. Lerner has put us where we are recently, but the decline started with, and continued with, dear old Doug.
