Yep. The game passed him by last night.
His skillset is not really suited to Emery's playing style, but we still need him for now until we bring in a different type of striker.
I don't agree, Nick. We are a worse team without his presence up front.
Very obvious in particular when we were under the cosh for long periods that we really missed him.
We can make top 6 with Martinez, Carlos, Kamara, Luiz and possibly Buendia, Ramsey and Watkins.
The rest, I agree, not good enough, but I expect the owners to augment the squad with the players Emery wants to enable us to push on.
And with mid-table players we will never be better than mid-table. I hope, and believe, that our ambition is to be better than that, and as you say, there are a number of our players not good enough who will need to be replaced.
Bailey would appear to be not good enough to be playing in our `mid-table team'.
It is not really just about that miss last night, it's disappointing but that can happen to the best of players, and I have seen worse misses.
His inconsistency is the problem. Occasional matches he is very good, but most matches he is poor.
I really don't think he is good enough, and is one of several players who will be replaced.
I think under Emery's tutelage Ramsey will become a top class player.
There is already so much to his game I think he will become a very important player for us.
Absolutely brilliant. Emery is the man. Some excellent performances, particularly Kamara, Buendia and Watkins, and Luiz MOM.
Happy New Year to you all.
No, not that I remember. It was completely rigid. And my recollection, could easily be wrong though, was that in the Fifties the professional teams were playing a rigid 1-2-3-5.
Well, I played Left Half (left midfield) in the fifties, in a definite 1-2-3-5. Amateur of course. I also played the same position and same configuration in hockey. In my experience it was prevalent at that time.
But I am probably a lot older than you and played at a lower standard. And I realise you are referencing the sixties.
