  1. Scored twice for us against Brentford in a 4-0 win at home last season in October 2022, no? He looked pretty good then too.
  2. 8th, 8th, 5th and 2nd ... and they want him out? True - they might not win it this year and might not finish as high as 2nd - but is Arteta really that bad?
  3. VAR get so many things wrong that you'd think they were doing it on purpose. ... so which is the lesser of 2 evils?
  4. ... which could get them into big trouble according to this bloke:
  5. .... and that ends the argument about our penalty being soft.
  6. Names help too. Salaaaaaaah or Sakaaaaa or Bentekeeeeee kind of help. Watkinnnnnnnns doesn't have the same ring.
  7. Yep. Agreed. Not the best example as I don't want corner kicks referred - but it was a clear and obvious mistake. It's those kind of obvious errors on things like yellow vs red card offenses, goals or penalties that I want to see VAR get involved.
  8. Yep - I agree. The ref in the middle makes the decisions. My issue is that VAR make the ref stop and second guess every decision, so effectively reffing by proxy. Nobody wants that. What we do want is VAR to say "Oooooh Jeff, that was a stinker. Have a look again on the screen" - to me, that is the definition of "clear and obvious". Edit: Case in point - Ezri Konsa's yellow card for what should have been an obvious corner kick
  9. Ummmm no. Clear and obvious errors. Not "hey, you might change your mind if you saw this in super slow motion"
  10. Still under the radar. This from a "fox sports" piece down here (dont bother reading it, but if you must: https://www.foxsports.com.au/football/premier-league/Premier League-premier-league-202323-arsenal-lose-to-fulham-spurs-beat-bournemouth-results-highlights-reaction/news-story/7fbdef1d7a548c32c3a64e719a7c3a9d) Both of them, eh? And in 4th place, you say? Ok, sure.
  11. Given their last 2 results, they are not even the strongest team in London atm.
  12. I'm not following the argument here. The ref gave the penalty. VAR reviewed and saw clear contact, so the penalty stood. There is no reason to make the ref look at the replay and second guess himself. Now if you argue that the penalty was soft - it was. If you argue that we'd be filthy if it happened at the other end - we would. But it's very hard to argue that it was not a penalty by the current rules of the game. Remember Pogba running next to Luiz and kicking his own leg for a penalty? Or Ratboy backing into Konsa and stepping on his foot for a penalty? In the face of those, this one was cast-iron, locked in, clear and obvious.
  13. McGinn for mine ... but Bailey gets the "where the hell did that come from?" award.
  14. Nah. First predicate is way off. Zaniolo hasn't been great, but been good in his last few games, including scoring in his last appearance. Ramsey may be getting up to speed, but he's not there yet. You pick players on form, not reputation - otherwise Bailey would be warming the bench.
  15. Zoolander performance from Lenglet - couldn't look left!
  16. Well... that was closer than I hoped. 3 things I learned: Trafford is a great keeper. Possible Olsen replacement? The old Villa doesn't get 3 points here Football is not a contact sport anymore
  17. ... why do I have a bad feeling about this one?
  18. The ManUre game was a perfect game for Ramsey. They didn't play a low block meaning he had space to run into and terrify their defence.... ... but he did bugger all. Unfortunate. Zaniolo starts over him, for mine.
  19. He's not a right back. He's been good all year but his best performances are at CB. I can't count the number of balls "down the line" he hit straight out.
  20. Very poor tonight, I thought. Gave the ball away and couldn't defend the counter for our first. Free header from a corner not 8 yards out - header not on goal Those 2 moments summed him up. I thought he was sloppy, overly physical when not needed and a step behind the pace.
  21. There's the Villa I grew to know and love! After having complete control of the game after 25 minutes, we simply switched off. Zero effort, zero composure on the ball, no 2nd ball, no period of sustained possession/control. Iroegbunam MOTM - nobody else deserves it.
  22. There was already a shocker for that Garnacho free kick. Not only was there little contact, the ref let them take 2 touches, then us take 2 touches and only when we were through on the break called it back for the free-kick. That's not advantage - that's bollox.
