  1. I'd pick Cuellar for the same reason, young Mr Walker leaves a little to be desired in the defensive department.
  2. Really? You're in favour of a more pure PR voting system Tone? Nah, he's obviously referring to The MasterPlan or future state as it is known.
  3. Nah, if this gets rejected there will be a clear and legitimate argument that you cannot change the voting system again - the people will have had their say. Whatever the result of this vote, there will not be another one for 20 years. If it gets accepted then over a period of time a lot of smaller parties will get increased representation - not massively, but an increase in the non-blue/yellow/red MPs currently sitting. And so in 20 years time there is a chance a fairer system will be proposed. A no vote leaves representation firmly in the hands of punch & judy who will only move towards change if it favours their party (as seen by judy's current support for the yes camp despite sitting in the no camp for the past decade).
  4. But, but, but.....the politicians were telling us how wonderful the police had done arresting 150 violent criminals. Where as they let all the violent criminals run riot breaking windows, spraypainting, paintbombing and arrested all the non-violent protesters (in a violent manner if you were watching the coverage). So you have 300,000 marching peacefully - 2 arrests - 0.0007% 350 at a peaceful sit in - 138 arrests - 39% 500 carrying out agressive and violent conduct - 11 arrests - 2.2% And all the politicians congratulated the police on the success of their work, and they all offered to give the police more powers to help them be even more successful. Quite a few people seem confused though
  5. This is not a no fly zone, this is war.

this is a wonderful comparison, the boat race on bbc1, young little sharp things splashing around in champagne, versus the protests on bbc news

on BBC1, boat race, they 're interviewing "Constantine Louloudis" from the winning oxford team. Top name mom & dad,
  8. Standing areas didn't kill 133 people, poor regulation did. Of course all seaters could have prevented those deaths, but so could other measures.
  9. We act where it is in our interests, not where it is in the interests of the people impacted. That is probably the only thing that is comparable with the iraq folly.
  10. That's one alternative, not the only one. Another would be to let the majority decide who they want to rule them, maybe even give them AV so they can vote for both sides.
  11. Colonial guilt. OK then, what about bahrain - or was there really a deal with the saudi's that the west could do what they want with libya as long as the sauds could do what they want with bahrain?
  12. I don't see this as anyway comparable to the iraq invasion, I don't think the west have been plotting for 18 months and lying their people into a war. But less of the punch and judy please, and more focus on the problems in north africa and the middle east.
  13. Mick McCarthy 1) It screws up wolves, meaning we only have to beat two other teams instead of three 2) He'll get enough points together for safety 3) Sack him in the summer and bring in roy keane to restore the squad's stability
  14. 1 down, 6,999 to go, BIAD. What is proposed is better than what we have. Not what is needed, but a step. Once people get used to change then they might not vote on the simple lines they have previously chosen. However I don't understand how labour supporters can feel let down by the lib dems - after 13 years of red party tory rule they would have no option to vote for. If however an AV was available in 1992, we would have had a labour majority govt not led by tories in sheep clothing, and wouldn't have ended up with clegg at all.
  15. No more than it makes fptp redundnant if a majority who would have overturned the actual results didn't turn up Hopefully we won't base such decisions on 'what is good for me'.
  16. the phrase "man up" lazy slang for people unable to adequately express their own thoughts.
  17. Well the yanks aren't going to aim HAARP at themselves now are they.
  18. poetry in motion poetry in motion never stopping to explore the bleeding never stopping to look at the reasoning bowing down in front of the black as another blade strikes into the back waiting for good days for splendour return
  19. Maybe a few more diplomatic engagements are required in Egypt and Tunisia where the old crowd are still running the govt. Either the revolutions step up a gear or they've achieved nothing.
  20. As the best passer of the ball we have, would rather him here.
  21. The "Merlin" project hey. This govt is full of pagan worshipping sheep slaughterers. Most of the sheep are lib dems, but what the heck.
  22. Well if that's your preferred icecream and sponge dessert, then feel free to roll with it.
