  1. Lump. He could play in a blindfold and it wouldn't make a difference to his passing.
  2. Great signing if true, I didn't think we would have a chance of getting him.
  3. I think the criticism of Hutton being caught up the pitch so often would be more valid if Smith didn't want him to get forward, but that obviously isn't the case. I saw the Spurs - Man Utd game the other week, and Man U consistently targeted the space that had been left by Spurs full backs when they went forward, but surely those full backs aren't just crap, more a case of you can't be in two places at once. And Spurs other defenders did their best to cover for the missing full backs by actually adjusting their positioning, it also helped that they have a bit of pace, unlike us without Tuanzebe. A lot of people who say they want to see us play attacking football get very pissy in the match threads when attacking football actually costs us a goal, it's like asking for attacking football without actually committing people forward.
  4. His lack of composure when he gets into a shooting position is unbelievable. He's a player that has good moments rather than good games, but I don't remember his last good moment tbh.
  5. For all of Hutton's faults, he is still probably our best full back. Yes, we should want better, but somehow we have three worse.
  6. Spot on. These problems that many want to attribute to Hutton will not just disappear when he isn't in the team.
  7. That second half was dreadful, the worst we have played under Smith and a return to hoofball of the worst order. How on earth can Abraham be left so isolated when we are at home to QPR? The formation isn't helping when the midfield are so far away from the attack, we are left trying to make passes that none of our team can make. Serious changes are needed.
  8. We seemed to have no midfield in the second half, and considering McGinn was probably our motm that is pretty damning on the others. Played well for the first 20 minutes though.
  9. No faulting his work rate today, one of the few players to come out of that game with credit.
  10. It is only when he doesn't play and Hutton does that people ever come to the mistaken conclusion that Elmo is our best right back. His utterly incompetent performance today was no surprise, he cannot defend.
  11. I was confident we would beat Leeds, less confident seeing our line up, but still reckon we will do them in a high scoring game.
  12. Elmo is weak as piss and can't tackle, he isn't a full back.
  13. Another couple of factors in the high foul count are that he plays for free kicks a lot, perhaps instead of showing real creativity, and he also goes down easily a lot, so opponents probably think if he is going to get a free kick they might as well give him a kick. I don't disagree that he gets kicked a lot though.
  14. I would be tempted to drop him for the next game and maybe go with one more in midfield.
  15. At least under Smith I believe we can score enough to still win this. Might need to be seven though.
  16. I thought he did ok-ish for the most part, problems in midfield were exacerbated by Hourihane also being slow, weak and passing poorly, so the two together wasn't a strong combination.
  17. I think he is a little unlucky to be pushed out wide to make way for Abraham, I don't think there is much between them in terms of quality and they are similar in many ways.
  18. He was very good first 25 minutes, albeit with his usual hit and miss passing, but seemed to go a bit quiet after that.
  19. Noticeable that he was moving the ball a lot quicker, his best game for some time.
  20. I thought his performances under Smith have been a whole lot better than they were on the few occasions he has played over the last season. He looked like he had totally gone as a player last season, but hasn't been too bad the last two games. Not good but better.
  21. Norwich pass better than us and are far fitter. We didn't play particularly intelligently against the high press and the two early subs didn't help us. Not many chances in the game, perhaps slightly unlucky to lose as neither team really deserved 3 points..
  22. I like McGinn and think he brings a lot to the team, but given how so many pundits were saying what an absolute bargain he was, I have been somewhat disappointed in his quality on the ball to be honest. I guess he shut me up today, but until he starts getting more shots on target I think i'm going to consider that a bit of a fluke!
  23. Probably because there isn't a place for him in a 4-4-2. He was in the team today because he is Jack Grealish, not because his recent form merited it or because he fitted into the shape of the team. It didn't really work out.
