  1. Fair enough. But you who me really check out Gojira. Incredible band and they will be announcing a U.K. Tour next year imminently - playing Birmingham O2 academy on 11 March 2017 And Volbeat are fun; I would have imagined the missus might have enjoyed them as well - much more Alter Bridge style than Gojira! Oh and The Ramones rule - despite the idiots wearing the t-shirts. Been a fan since the early 2000s (they stopped touring before I was even in secondary school). For me, they were the definition of punk unlike say the Sex Pistols who were more of a fashion accessory than anything; which in light of the t-shirt wearing idiots, is somewhat ironic
  2. Me too! Has been far too long and not seen them since the new album has been released. And Clutch will be just a damn good time again! Erm blatantly go to Uncle Acid; get pissed and then head to the work Christmas party afterwards (or go to Pixies who will be good too!)
  3. What did you think of the support acts? Was tempted by this, but really it would have been for Gojira. Volbeat are fun but the last album was pretty bland and not really heard enough of Alter Bridge to have justified a ticket. Given Gojira are blatently going to do a headline tour next March/April with already released EU dates I thought money better spent there. At the moment though, next year already cracking for gigs: Meshuggah, Black Sabbath, Anthrax, Sodom, Skindred, Devin Townsend, Frank Carter, Ghost, Ihsahn, Iron Maiden and that's only until May. With Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats, Boris and Clutch all next month, very happy on the live music front
  4. We go again… Whilst I thought RDM would have been given more time to turn it around, can’t say I’m unhappy that he is gone. Players look decent (certainly better than we should be), coaching staff seem promising and the board for once is positive. Whilst it was always going to be a big ask, he knew the expectations of the board. IMO from day 1 RDM never felt we could get promoted this season. He may be right (time will tell) but he has been given the backing to do so and should have done better. Tactically questionable, substitutions bizarre and a mindset of never closing games down. So who’s next on the chopping block? Whoever it is, needs to settle quickly and needs to be given time. That being said, of the names mentioned here and the list from William Hill of possible managers (just couldn’t be arsed to go through all betting sites – just easy) mention of a 10-man list is involved. As such IMO likely list is going to be: Steve Bruce, David Wagner, Steve Clarke, Chris Hughton, Lee Johnson, Mick McCarthy, Dean Smith, Simon Grayson, Gary Rowett & Karl Robinson I would have put Steve Cotterill & Ryan Giggs given profiles but apparently not being considered. I wouldn’t rule them out right now and may pop up again at some point, Giggs more so than Cotterill. Of the other names mentioned/listed. I would say Tony Pulis, Mark Hughes & Garry Monk are unlikely. All 3 in jobs at the moment and unlikely to switch unless they have been given the boot by their current clubs before we have appointed someone. Whilst rumours persist around Pulis and Hughes (and Monk is at Leeds so could go tomorrow!) I do not think these guys will be on any list. As for Tim Sherwood & Harry Redknapp they are also unlikely. These 2 both have a point to prove and may be willing for the job. However, both come with baggage and risk. I cannot foresee them being realistically considered for the job. This lot, who, IMO are not going to happen: Roy Keane, Chris Coleman & Martin O'Neill are all in cushy international jobs – why give that up now to manage us? I cannot imagine any of these wanting to go back into club management at this stage. These 3 are not even in the starting block. Tony Mowbray, Nigel Pearson, Sam Allardyce, Steve McClaren & Nigel Adkins have all been sacked/resigned/imminently being sacked due to poor performance/dodgy dealings. This lot are not going to be touched with a barge pole (who has ever even used a barge pole???). The next bunch I almost can’t be bothered to explain but just are not going to happen: David Moyes because he turned us down last time and failing at Sunderland in any event. Neil Warnock has just taken the Cardiff job. Sean Dyche is doing decent with Burnley in the Premier League – why swap? John Carver – Seriously? Why does he keep turning up as an option??? Can someone tell the betting companies that this is just stupid. Shall I wait for Glen Hoddle and Jürgen Klinsmann to appear? So of the names mentioned who will get it? It depends on what Tony wants. If he wants promotion this season and nothing else will do, then Steve Bruce, Mick McCarthy, Steve Clarke & Chris Hughton are the likely candidates. Bruce & McCarthy have been there done that so many times would be ideal to reach for immediate promotion. Will not be pretty and to be honest not keen on either of them, but will probably do the job. Hughton is still doing decent with Brighton and has done it before too with Norwich so again has pedigree in it. Whether he would leave Brighton after a new contract signed in the summer, not so sure. Bruce has to be nailed on if this is what the board want. Available, done it before, yes ex-blues but he is a damn sight better than McLeish! Clarke is a peculiar one. Would not have rated as the manager for us, but he is already a part of the set up and will be given an opportunity to show the board what he could do. He certainly would have a head start over every other candidate and if he does a job and wins the next few games, he could really push himself to be a serious contender. That might be what the board want and he could well get it. If the club want to build a footballing philosophy a la Southampton/Leicester and would probable want to bringing in a young, progressive manager to do the job then I am not sure those above will do the job so much (maybe Hughton). To me that would mean one of David Wagner, Lee Johnson, Dean Smith, Simon Grayson, Gary Rowett & Karl Robinson. All managers that have been building a team for some time and have been getting the plaudits for it. They could get hold of the team and with the right backing really create a team and a club that pushes us. If one of these was appointed, then this is what they will want to do. One of these guys would be an exciting prospect and one that could get me quite excited. This ability to push beyond this season was, IMO, why RDM was appointed in the first place, it was thought he could get us immediate promotion and create a team for the future. Clearly though, he was not performing good enough and the club wants immediate promotion. That is why for me, it is a manager in that category that will probably “guarantee” immediate promotion. That is why, for me, there are only 2 realistic candidates: Steve Bruce and Steve Clarke. If that was the choice, based on what we know, Bruce is the candidate for me. I do like the sound of Wagner, Smith & Rowett in particular but I do not think this is what Tony is looking for this season. He will want to go with a sure bet. (I have Bolded the summary bits for those that this is a TLDR post )
  5. Not yet and it does get somewhat frustrating trying to track everything down!!! When they eventually do stop release if I'm sure there is enough back catalogue to keep you busy!
  6. I've only really listened to the double album they did with him earlier this year. Was cool but prefer keeping the Boris side up and the Merzbow stuff down. For me that Boris/Sunn o))) collaboration was my first real introduction to both bands and will always be special for me. Went down to London for that show too, which in turn introduced me to Earth. For me Sunn don't have enough about them and sort of go down the one path. Don't mind them at all but think they were their most interesting on Altar and White 2. The Scott Walker record was also really cool, just haven't been keen on their latter records and the Ulver one disappointed me. Whilst with Boris, you can never be truly certain what you are going to get, just that it's damn good! Getting the back catalogue though... They release a lot of records! @sne - nothing wrong with Swedish music - some of the best out there! Definitely a big for the death'n'roll of Entombed from me too!
  7. Wreath is probably one of the best?! I get stuck on riff in that song, absolutely love it! Morningrise is excellent as are the others early one. Might give heritage another go to see if views have changed. Just want them to do a proper uk tour - feels like they just want to do the big fancy shows in London...
  8. See Deliverance for me is the best, perfect blend of Prog and Death; though can appreciate people will have different views and all up to Heritage are great albums! Which one would you go for then? Heritage and Pale Communion for me were dull and uninteresting, with Pale Communion a slight improvement. Have avoided listening too much so can appreciate the full album but yes I have already preordered it...
  9. Thanks. They have been doing a massive tour in America on this over the summer. Frustrating as they are not coming to Brum! Can't decide whether to trek down to Bristol or London though!
  10. Always difficult (and cannot believe I haven’t seen this thread before!). The OP, I have to say good shouts on the ones I have highlighted. For me, there are 6 albums which are there without question: Metallica – Master of Puppets Iron Maiden – Seventh Son of a Seventh Son Black Sabbath – Black Sabbath Mastodon – Leviathan Judas Priest – British Steel Slayer – Reign in Blood These to me are heart and soul fundamental classic albums and deserve to be in the list of top albums. After that however it becomes somewhat more difficult. IF I had to narrow down to a top 10 right now I would probably add the following: Enslaved – Veterbrae Porcupine Tree – Fear of a Blank Planet Clutch – Psychic Warfare Ghost – Meliora All 4 albums are great and I would say the respective bands best works. Certainly albums that I keep returning to with ever growing love. That said, there should definitely be honourable mentions to the following: Gojira – From Mars to Sirius Anthrax – Among the Living Baroness – Yellow & Green Sunn o)))/Boris – Altar Ihsahn – Arktis Devin Townsend Project – Ki Yes – Fragile Black Sabbath – Paranoid Led Zepplin – IV The Ramones – The Ramones Sabaton – Coat of Arms ZZ Top – Tres Hombres Boris – Pink Heaven & Hell – The Devil You Know King Diamond – Them Kylesa – Exhausting Fire Napalm Death – Apex Predator Opeth – Deliverance Iron Maiden – Iron Maiden Some of these have in the past definitely been in top 10, some likely to be there in the future (Ihsahn’s album is fantastic and most likely!). Ask me again in a year…!
  11. Absolutely this. This will be an immensely interesting test for us and RDM. We have definitely been playing some of the best football in the league but not finishing matters off. I reckon Newcastle coming at us will do us a favour and give the forwards the space to counter. Reckon it could be a solid 2-0 and the season to take off from this Subject to injury play: Gollini Bacuna - Elphick - Chester - Amavi Tsibola - Jedinak Ayew - McCormack - Grealish Kodjia Bench: Bunn, Baker, Cissokho, Gardner, Adomah, Green, Gestede Though no doubt he will put Richards on the bench for some unknown reason...
  12. Actually we would be 4th but certainly in the mix. Results would have been as follows (with extra points in brackets): Sheffield Wednesday – 0-0 (+1) Rotherham – 2-0 (+0) Huddersfield – 1-0 (+2) Derby – 0-0 (+0) Bristol City – 1-2 (+0) Forest – 2-1 (+2) Brentford – 1-0 (+2) Total dropped points after 80 minutes: 7 Whilst it can be forgiven that we have a slow start due to the horrors of last season and the upheaval; we are our own worse enemy. In each of the games we have lost we could have very easily won. The only game I would say we were poor was yesterday - after we scored we just could not be bothered and was very frustrating. However... Sort out lasting 90 minutes instead of 80 and we will be there. Still plenty of time to climb the table again!
  13. "Odi et amo. quare id faciam fortasse requiris? nescio, sed fieri sentio et excrucior.'" I hate and I love. Why I do this, perhaps you ask? I do not know, but I feel it happening and I am being torn apart.
  14. 1 (2 if you count Bacuna) attacking players. If we are not winning by 60/70 min mark no one to really change the game. Where are Grealish and Adomah? And hopefully he's playing 4 up top. Reckon Ayew and McCormack will be the "width"...
  15. Think this will be a lot closer than people think. Brentford better than Rotherham and should not be underestimated. We need to be more clinical in front of goal and tighter at the back than we have been so far. Every game this season we could/should have won but for our own faults. Get rid of them and we will be fine. Going for a Villa 2-1 win.

    Burgers

Meat and cheese. That is all that is required. Hence why the Bacon Double Cheese XL is probably the best fast food burger out there.
  17. What @Midfielder has said. I only play the mobile version these days and I love it still. It is not as vast as the PC/Mac version absolutely but is ultimately still the same game. I have to get the train a lot for my job and completely agree; fantastic for those journeys! Because it is so easy just to pick up; even when I am at home easy to play rather than going onto main computer. If its the only way you will get to play then absolutely worth it! Though it physically will never be as expansive as the PC version.
  18. From the Mail Article. Is this true, that Riley was responsible for the release clauses and contracts? Was never entirely sure what he did/didn't do but a clearly linked with the horrors of last season(s). Cheerio; don't let the door hit you on the way out!
  19. Wasn't really aware of him before but he could be the crucial link we need!
  20. To be honest, if this is even remotely true, he's clearly been tapped up or someone has been chasing him all summer. He wouldn't hand in a transfer request on the last day of a transfer window. He must have an idea of where he would likely go.
  21. 4-4-1-1: Gollini RDL - Elphick - Chester - Amavi Ayew - Tshibola - Jedinak - Grealish McCormack Kodjia 4-2-3-1: Gollini RDL - Elphick - Chester - Amavi Tshibola - Jedinak Ayew - McCormack - Grealish Kodjia 5-3-2: Gollini Elphick - Chester - Baker RDL - Amavi Tshibola - Jedinak - Westwood McCormack - Kodjia 4-3-3: Gollini RDL - Elphick - Chester - Amavi Tshibola - Jedinak - Westwood Ayew - McCormack - Kodjia Obviously can switch players around but my friends, that's what we call options
  22. I would prefer him over Richards. Would be more likely to get back anyway!
