  1. Well, if your agenda is whether NRC is better than Stan then it seems a pretty pointless thread. If we'd kept NRC then our squad would be stronger, however to suggest NRC is the answer is ludicrous. Both players have their faults and neither are of the quality to take Villa forward. But as I've stated it's not going to change unless RL has a lottery win so let's pray Delph or someone else can come up with something special. I'm not holding my breath mind.
  2. In all fairness I don't think anyone on here is trying to convince you that Petrov is a world beater. I think the point to be made is that we have no one else who is going to replace him in the team unless some of the 'unproven' talent we have suddenly start to prove their worth or RL gives the manager £10m.
  3. Regardless of anyone's opinion, including DM's, until we acquire a new replacement then Petrov has to play. He's the only experienced midfielder we have and the jury is out on just about every alternative in the squad. If anyone is expecting Delph et al to solve all our problems then there are going to be some disappointed folk on here come Xmas. I acknowledge Petrov's days are numbered but unless AMc is backed in the market then I don't see any alternative.
  4. Rather stick with Young, can't see how Hutton is any better.
  5. I never said he lied, just that info may not always be 100%. Anyway, back on topic - Warnock will be given another chance.
  6. I've been on here long enough to know all of the above. However, he has also said many things that have not come to fruition. You can't believe everything that is said.
  7. Yes, everything MM says is gospel, er not!
  8. My take, decent player and one who we could not replace with similar ability for less than £6m. The likes of Enrique would never leave Newcastle for Villa, get a reality check. Enrique will leave for a 'bigger' club IF Newcastle even decide to sell, and why would they? It's obvious SW and GH didn't see eye to eye, players don't get banished for not playing well otherwise they would be half a dozen in the reserves last year. All I would say is that until the alledged bust up, SW had always given 100%, indeed I believe his drop in form was due to him playing through injuries rather than sit out. If we can get him playing again then he'll be an asset because there's no doubt he can be a threat in attacking positions. We have no one else and it doesn't sound like we have money to start replacing international full backs.
  9. A younger verions of L Young in my eyes.
  10. TBF I never said anything about his form to date. I said next season is where he proves whether he's top half prem player or not. Let's face it he cost a fair amoung for someone unproven and he, like others, need to justify that outlay. Yes, he had a bad injury but there are question marks against his fitness and I reiterate that if he doesn't make an impact next season it will be 'see you later'.
  11. Next season is make or break for Delph. He needs to sort his fitness out and start producing on a consistent basis. If he can't then it's curtains. As for BB, can never see him him cutting it for us. Will be sold to a bottom half/championship side. Despite what people say, there is no place for a midfielder of his stature in the PL and he far too wasteful with the ball.
  12. Time to move on and let bygones be bygones.
  13. Let's all slag off Warnock, I mean Dunne was a goner according to you lot and he's sorted himself out. I've heard Warnock has been playing with a back injury for majority of the season so don't write him off just yet. Too many idiotic fans on here just waiting for a chance to knock their own club.
  14. i thought he was well off the pace and clearly showed there's more to be done. Good finish but hold play, control and anticipation need work. As for sub,I thinkk GH wanted to give Gabby a run out but felt he had to keep the shape the same as our midfield were conceding too much room.
  15. Well it sounds like we may have to get used to them.
  16. You may have already heard this but my neighbour bumped into someone who had a major part to play in the lastest shirt design. Apparently, the claret/blue squares on the shirt that we've already seen on flags, etc is going to be Villa's icon. The club were worried that when Villa appear on TV (mostly aborad) that they are not easily identified so by having the squares everyone associates them with AVFC. Therefore, I assume any future kits are going to incorporate this design somewhere so to all those that like spending an afternoon making kits on their PC - bear it in mind.
  17. I don't think the team is as weak as some are making out.
  18. AVFC have a very average appeal outside the UK, indeed some could argue our profile within the UK is pretty average. Although we appreciate we have three consecutive 6th place finishes they come on the back of some very mediocre league placings that almost resulted in relegation. Our record in the Europa has been pathetic, this in turm means our name does not get any airtime on the continent. As a result of not making the headlines people outside the club pperceive us as just making up the numbers and only notice the 'Big 4'. Don't think GH was been offensive, it's just indicitive of our profile and something I'm sure the board are trying to improve. As for being on the same level as Liverpool - Ok, they had a disappointing league placing last season but in terms of club stature they're isn't really a contest as Liverpool are probably among the top 3 names in world football, Aston Villa is not. As for the notice period, can't see what people are fussing about. He is legally bound just like you are at work. He can't just not turn up because he can no longer be arsed. The three month things is sesantionalism on part of the papers and I have no doubt he'll be here as promised after the Bolton game. As for KMc, no one here wanted him as manager. He's been offered the next best thing and refused and then been given his old, cushy job back. He's got no reason to moan.
  19. People moaning about Staunton and what he achieved as a manager - HE IS COMING AS ASSISTANT! He will not be our manager so why does that matter? I'm sure he can put cones out and kick a ball as good as the next assistant manager. As for Houllier, it's pretty obvious KMc will do the day to day stuff with the lads while he is the face of the management team, negotitating transfers, etc. So long as both parties are in agreement of how things work then I don't see a problem. All failed partnerships in the past have failed because one party wants the other to **** off. And finally - I read countless posts during the last two years stating that MON was useless and should be replaced. The replies often said we could not get anyone better than MON, which were then countered by certain people who reeled off a list of candiadtes stating Villa were in a position to pick and choose. I wonder what those people have been saying over the last few weeks when it become apparent that we are unable to attract a 'top quality' manager to the club?
  20. This is embarrasing - four years on and we back to where we started on the field. The writing has been on the wall and I feared this year would be a disappointment even before MON left us in the lurch. Now it appears worse than that. Football is simple, the team with the best players wins which does not explain why we keep selling our best players, why we have no one in charge to select players and why we are in no position to strengthen our squad when the window shuts in a few days. This whole process in nothing short of a disgrace and the lack of comments from RL, our supposed leader is also shocking. All we keep hearing are the ramblings of man way out of his depth who is acting like a rabbit in the headlights. I almost feel sorry for KMc since he has had no guidance from above as far as the public are concerned. It is obvious the indecision is affecting players (Petrov alluded to that after the game) and it should have been sorted one way or another by now. What a waste of £500 on my ST - I feel sorry for my dad who bought his first ever ST and chose this season of medocrity to do it. Looking forward to plenty more disappointment
  21. It's a **** shambles. WTF are we resting players in August and playing players in stupid positions? A load of shit and there's absolutely no sign of improvement. What a waste of four years, back to where we started!!!
  22. Hi, Can you explain the situation regarding Curtis Davies? Here is a player that is blatantly fit given his 90 min appearance on Thursday but seemingly cannot make a matchday squad on for a prem game when we only have a rookie defender in Clarke to call on. We keep hearing rumours that one more game triggers a contract clause and I want to know how long we will persist playing silly games to the detriment of the team in order to penny pinch? I admire what's been done in recent years but we have hit a crossroads and I'm afraid fans are tiring of the same talk, it's time for some action. WE NEED top class manager and he will need funds to ensure Villa compete in the top 6/7. Afterall, we were told 4 years ago that this club would be serious CL contenders and we are simply drifting at the moment with no direction and a chairman who refuses to speak and signal his intentions. Where is the leadership?
  23. General, Could you please explain the rationale for taking down the big screen and not putting it back up? As mentioned, parts of the ground cannot see the remaining screen and it makes no sense whatsoever to have taken down the other screen. Thanks
