  1. 12 for me, good old Uncle Ernie! The family thought he was a bit weird but they changed their tune when I told them what a right sexy bastard he really was.
  2. White wine, second bottle. Found some in Waitrose reduced from £6.99 to £2.89, such bargains need abusing.
  3. Just learned something myself there. I didn't realise it used an SD card rather than CF, so you can scratch what I said above about having one myself. I don't, I have an 8gb compact flash card.
  4. Here is the 450 review there. They also have Canon forums on there. Link to DPReview
  5. not sure why you would want an 8 gig card to be honest i have 4 gig sandisk Extreme III in mine holds about 400 photos even in large format more than big enough i should think There is only one disadvantage to having a larger-capacity card that I can think of and that is that you could potentially lose more photos if the card fails! If you are shooting raw rather than JPEG larger cards are a necessity. One thing I've learned over the years - sometimes frustratingly - is you can't have too much memory or too many batteries. You can have too little or too few, though!
  6. I have that very card and have to say I've never experienced any issues using it but I'm not using a 450D - I'm not using a Canon at all. It would surprise me if it were true, though, as I would expect the camera and card to perform perfectly well in just about all circumstances except if continuous shooting shots in extreme bursts. All cameras and cards will do that after a point if you hold the shutter button down for long enough, depending upon the camera's ability to clear its memory buffer and the ability of the card to accept the data. Have you had a look at DPReview? They normally have something about that kind of thing on their camera reviews.
  7. I don't see any direct correlation between the memory capacity of a card and effects on camera speed. What 8gb card is it and what exactly is said to slower? I'm guessing that what is being referred to is moving data to the card but that is not anything to do with the actual size of the card, it will be something else.
  8. Went for Palin myself based on the wording of the poll - favourite, not necessarily funniest. I love his post-Python stuff, as well. Ripping Yarns and his travel programmes.
  9. OK, so this is a real pet hate of mine that I had actually forgotten about. They have just started the men's walking event. Get the **** out of here. That is just Olympic mincing. I don't care how fit they are they just look like a bunch of queers. However, there are some other pointless events so let's have a poll on this.

    Wigs - Why

I went for 'No' based on the assumption we are restricting it to men. Wigs can serve a purpose on women. Example, a wig might make me want to bone Gail Porter again.
  11. Yeah, there are some really funny clips there and a few winces, too!
  12. He might not be labeled a coward but he would be branded breathtakingly stupid or insane! Labour would be massacred at the polls, which would be a good thing, but frankly it ain't gonna happen. Much as I would like to see shit in human form like Patricia Hewitt bounced out of office. His own party may well do for him - the "men in grey suits" - but he won't call an election and I doubt he will take the decision to step down of his own volition. BTW, I haven't read the reactions to their defeat but are we hearing the usual platitudes? "We need to listen...blah blah", "We need to engage yadda yadda..." "Must be grown up about this snurt snurt snurt..."
  13. Love it I see you are picking up on the vernacular quite nicely.
  14. No, it's classed as initially just balancing the scales and then adding a bit in your favour.
  15. Mmmmmm, based on the TV shows you remember I would hazard that we are around the same age
  16. Shouldn't you also add an option for "All of the above"? For me now the answer is none but had you polled me (a horrible thought) 15-20 years ago the answer would have been very different. It would have been closer to "Tried just about all of 'em now just stick to x, y and sometimes z if the circumstances are right". Just booze and fags now!
  17. I was standing next to my cousin when she asked Charlie Cairoli for his autograph and he grumpily brushed her off. After he had stalked off, one of his retinue muttered something about him being busy. She was most upset by it but I was delighted as I loathed the selfish, spoiled little bitch!

    Revels

Treets (sp)? Anyway, went for orange myself. They are a total abomination but had coffee been in there it would have been a close call -still would have gone for orange, though.
  19. Went for Depp myself. He has been brilliant in anything I have seen him in - including The Libertine which I watched last night.
  20. @ Tony First suggestion is check out the Sony Alpha range that has the in-body anti-shake first introduced by Minolta. It works and is a much lighter AS method than that pursued by Canon and Nikon who are still doing it in the lens. It increases the weight and the cost doing it that way and I'm pretty sure they will both go in-body in the near future. I have a Minolta and a Sony body and can attest to the efficiency of the in-body method of AS and all the lenses you use benefit from the AS, not just the ones you have paid extra to have it engineered in. The other point is that if you are using a shutter speed less than 1/300 sec with a 300mm lens hand-held you will struggle.Apologies if it is an egg suck on this focal length/shutter speed reciprocal calculation that is generally applied.
  21. General, thanks for taking the time to answer the question AGAIN! The conduct of the club, in this matter especially, suggests to me that the word of Theodore Roosevelt may be apt, "Talk softly but carry a big stick". My belief is that you, Randy and MON - despite the occasional apparent appearance of the fey Irishman character - probably subscribe to that ethos. Personally, I trust you all to do the right thing in the right way and settle accounts in an appropriate manner.
  22. Well, Blears took a deserved kicking on Question Time - which is always good - and word out out via This Week that Labour have taken a kicking in the Bye-Election. Good day all round.
  23. Terry looks a broken man at the moment. In a Windsor Davies stylee, "Oh dear, how sad, never mind."
