  1. I'd throw the towel in now, but there is so long left I'll give it a chance to see what can be done before Jan. The target is to catch Sunderland and see who else just above stuffs up.
  2. I wanted us to beat Arsenal but new it wasn't gonna happen, they are top of the table. I think we can play better and I think Garde knows he now has to go all out to win these upcoming games - he even said something about now needing to win. I think he's been playing for draws against the few top teams we've played under him, but against newcastle next week and after that I expect to see us go for it, heck he may even start traore...
  3. I'm bored of us not winning, therefore this will be a win. It has to happen at least once more this season.
  4. Surprise result against le Arse and we are one win away from rejoining the pack near enough. Christmas wishes sometimes come true...
  5. I think our issue once again is squad strength. Richardson, Hutton, Clark are all starting games for us but are all so capable of making an error that will see us concede. It's a serious disability. Which is why we need to forget about defending and just go all out attack every game.
  6. That gave me hope for a moment, then I couldn't work out how we'd find another 5 points...
  7. Hutton played his heart out but was at fault for 2 goals today - he epitomises us at the moment - destined to lose. We will improve but not before the damage is done. Unlike previous relegation threatened seasons, I actually think we have what we need to bounce back stronger. Championship is necessary.
  8. For absolute sure. Tentative signs, but it does appear that players like Grealish and certainly Gabby have spent far too much of their careers already, being un-managed. They have been left to define themselves but everyone needs a mentor or guidance. Thankfully Remi looks like he can provide this.
  9. Not a reaction to anyone, just a statement, but I haven't seen anything yet to suggest Remi is out of his depth or making errors. The international break was the reason Sanchez didn't play against Everton, and we were over run in midfield - not Remi's fault. He has done the right thing by exiling Gabby and kicking Grealish up the bottom. As it stands, I believe that when Remi has had a window or two, and gets his first choice coaches, we will see a strong Villa. But that will all take time and possibly more time than we have available this season.
  10. I believe we will catch the increased parachute payments next season if we go down - and I am sure this is Lerner's fail-safe. Dented pride aside, if Remi can get us playing by the end of the season, I believe even if we go down we stand a very good chance of coming straight back up - I know the standard response to that is 'Oh no we don't!' but again, if Remi can impose a successful playing style, we will have more than enough resources to boss the championship. The only thing that will do for us is the ownership - if they really are forcing Round onto Garde (oo-er) then we really do have a Venkys situation - and that could screw us for a lot longer.
  11. Gabby said Grealish bleeds claret and blue (or something like that) - that may be so but if he actually wants villa to do well then he needs to clean up his act and help the team stay up by being a pro. Anything less and I think he probably bleeds Jack Grealish before he bleeds claret and blue.
  12. I am going to be abroad for this (woo get me, I am Howard Hodgson) with a time difference that puts this game at 10am local time. Last time this happened it was the Leicester game and being wasted and miserable before midday in a health loving north american country is not something I want to happen again (the miserable bit). Please win Villa. If we lose, I really do think it is curtains for us - not in an overly dramatic way, but in a we won't have enough time to get the points we need kind of way. I still believe we will improve as the season goes on whatever happens.
  13. I think our new players will improve and at some point we will gain a style, and a way of winning. Look at Veretout, Tim never even spoke to him, up until two games ago he was thinking he shouldn't be at Villa and probably had his mind on how to move or on his new kid. Everton was gutting, but we were only ever going for the draw, so that's just what we had to do and it failed because Everton got their early goal and that was that. We will know more after Watford - but we could end the season playing lovely football having completely clicked, but drop by the margin of a few points that there simply wasn't time to get under Garde.
  14. To reject the part of you that takes pride in being a villa fan is difficult. There is no substitute for that pride, or any substitute for drinking beer at 3pm on a weekend for any other reason. We WILL have our day, but it won't be soon.
  15. Bolloxed - Everton are a settled team with lots of good prospects but they ain't brilliant - we are unsettled, lacking confidence, lacking talent. We are done for. Randy deserves this.
  16. We will have our day - in about 5 years time winning league 1.
  17. The only comfort is that we have resources to tap into should we need promotion.
  18. Think we will see some lovely passing today. May not win, but lovely passing nonetheless.
  19. Very excited to see jack and gil start.
  20. I was only trying to be funny. Can't have any empathy for this player, been mediocre for way too long. Garde has had to send him away from the squad, mid-season, to provoke a reaction in the player, but the trouble here is I don't know if Gabby will fully understand why Garde has done this. Probably thinks its a reward for 8 touches in 45 minutes.
  21. Let's hope it's a one-way ticket to Raqqa.
  22. A draw I think, equal possession (50/50) glaring misses from both sides, then a scrappy goal each. Hutton red card on 92 mins. 1-1.
  23. I really care about his knee and I really care about Paris.
  24. A goal, and a point would be a good outcome.
