  1. Good performance against a home team who should have won three in a row today.
  2. Just said to the wife that if we lose today I'm throwing the towel in. Then said hang on, if we lose next match then I really will throw the towel in. Then thought no, if we were to win the one after that we have a chance. I'm not certain I'm as prepared for relegation as I thought I'd convinced myself I was.
  3. The Nzogbia situation and the Gabby situation with his recent contract just shows that Garde needs at least two windows before he can be properly judged.
  4. It is madness that it has taken this long for a Villa manager to see Gabby and Nzogbia for what they are - well done Garde - get rid and you will have made an excellent start to your rebuild.
  5. Who needs to run around a shed load when we have the pinpoint passing ability of Hutton, Sanchez and Gestede?
  6. Selling Gabby tells me Garde is a good manager. Make it happen Remi.
  7. With Hutton on the other side of the field we'll have a matching pair

    Adama Traore

That this will have little effect on the overall quality of our first team speaks volumes about our plight. Let's promote some yoof and enjoy our club again.
  9. I think we'll need emoticons for gabby
  10. But we are pathetic, and have been for ages. It's probably the acceptance of this fact that is the moment when you are suddenly ok about being relegated.

    Adama Traore

Is the wage story true? I don't know, but it doesn't make a lot of sense surely to have such a steep increase in a contract so soon after the contract begins, what would be the reason for that timing? And given he's come in this year, he is surely on a relegation clause like everyone else. But then again, never say never with Villa.
  12. Forest, Wolves, BCFC will all be huge games and probably sold out - watching us win any of those will be money well spent. It ain't premier league but it is actually a better experience as a fan than struggling against Watford or Southampton.
  13. My thoughts are that I don't understand why you specified journeymen. thoughts are that I don't understand why you specified journeymen. Thanks for sharing, you've enriched the reading experience of this forum ten-fold.
  14. Well you should feel free to put your own thoughts forwards, don't be shy.
  15. Bottom of the league, attempting a continental style, and Amavi needs covering, not another Amavi. That sort of thing. What do you think?
  16. I know the players haven't been running through walls of late, but I think some have tried hard (Richards, Ayew, Hutton). Not making excuses for the team either, though may be hoping a little in vein, but 4 of the last 5 games may not have wielded points in any recent season for us, so I think Garde and our ultimate test is upon us this month. Last chance saloon, for real.
  17. Done a little research on the championship and looks like those with the biggest following get the live games on sky - Leeds, Wolves, Forest seem to do ok. Sky are showing total of 116 games this season, and this week are doing something called 10 in 10 - 10 live games in 10 days - so with us down there and maybe Newcastle or Sunderland I can see the number of televised games going up, and possibly the Villa on TV once or twice a month as Leeds have been. But why exactly we want to watch this pile of horse poo I can't answer.
  18. Austin has said he is staying put - and given his goals this season there is no compelling financial reason for his club to sell him when they are chasing promotion. Much as he would be ideal for a number of clubs. Garde will be going after French speaking journeymen I feel - and why not.

    Adama Traore

In a way, being relegated will be fun just to see Traore ripping it up in the Championship - will be good development for him, and possibly Jack too. Can you imagine Traore against Rotherham or Preston? We'd only need to field him and a keeper and still win 7-0.
  20. Well there's always the new series of game of thrones, unrelenting bleakness, much like watching Villa.
  21. Garde for the long term or Big Sam for the short term? Going on what Garde has said recently about his chat with Lerner, he has come in to rebuild our foundations even if it means going down. I think he was sold a project, to reshape an English football giant (yes we were once) in his own vision, and I wouldn't be surprised if he is thinking of Arsenal and Wenger when he thinks of the future for Villa. This I am cool with, whatever it takes, so long as it works out.
  22. If we were six points better off then the majority of us would not be predicting relegation as a certainty. Six points, two wins, made up on awful teams like Sunderland and we are in with a chance come the end of the season. Despite everything we have been through, this is not impossible. It's at times like this that I'm glad the players, management and owner have very little in common with the fans, because they are less passionate and more cold and logical I don't believe they have thrown the towel in as we have. Could be a different story come Jan though.
  23. Lerner will like this, but I don't think we should be spending big this Jan - unless we show something in the games until then. If we are still limping along then we will need all our cash reserves for our promotion push.
  24. Like an injured cat, we need to crawl away under the sideboard and recuperate. Looks like Garde took the job not as some premier league saviour, but as someone who would come in and rebuild the squad in his own vision, even if we went down. This I am all for and some pain now for a revitalised Villa in the future is a bitter pill worth swallowing. Whatever your opinion on the championship, I think it will be the making of us.
  25. Its a good thing Newcastle got those two recent results, means they'll keep schteve mclaren until it's too late. They'll be overconfident and we'll get a nervy 1-2 win which will just prolong our pain and misery by giving us hope.
