  1. Yes I think Smith stays now as the options are limited especially with the way the games are spaced out now. Percy had him down to go if we lost to Chelsea in the original scheduling , that would of given us a 2 week break to bring someone in and then the games spaced out enough for changes to take effect I don't see him as being fully backed now its just a case of nothing we can do On Purslow his comments from preseason show a man deluded on the reality of situation or someone who is good at PR BS , neither is great in all honesty. Things behind scenes may be improving ie the youth set up but if I am the owners I am asking him questions about what went wrong and his part in it.
  2. Problem was it that adjust to try and curl it in which allowed time to block He was on wrong side of pitch against Newcastle on the left he was more dangerous on the right he had to cut back inside then would be sending in a ball curling towards the keeper. To get the best from him you really need him in the position Grealish plays.Grealish in that role will run with ball and create chances by drawing players in , Hourihane you want there to be on edge of area to shoot or in a position to cross. A role for him where he is chasing players or generally not close to the opponents area is a waste of time.
  3. The width in the modern game comes from the fullbacks so putting a CB there puts you at a disadvantage to start with but its made worse when you put a player like CH who is not going to provide any width on his weaker side.Against Newcastle he was on the left and we moved the ball for him to whip it in.Yesterday ont he right side he offered nothing apart from one blocked shot , which he should of passed back to Jack. There was one point where Jack put a ball into space for CH to run on to and he lack of pace allowed the defender to get back. Teams with 2 upfront seems to play 3-5-2 to use the wingbcks as width whilst maintaining 2 backs of 3 in the middle
  4. Was like the Chelsea game , in that we barely had the ball but flucked a goal but still we should of made changes - nope sat on his hands they make changes and score then we change Yesterday I don't know how you watch that FH and especially with Targett off don' t think you need to do something to get some width to a team who has 2 strikers up front.Hourihane on the right of a 3 man midfield is nuts
  5. Bruce , what ever you think of him has great success getting out of the league and had gotten us to a play off final but he had lost the team by the time we sacked him , I feel Dean is in a similar position now
  6. Which means another rebuild of the spine of the team...and yet people think relegation won't be that bad ...
  7. Hates Purslow - no chance whilst Purslow is still here
  8. It's amazing how many ex players I see when watching other games , our turn over of players is crazy In wasted cash it must be around 50 mil in wages and fee's on Hogan , Kodjia and McCormack in the last 3 years with a return of next to nothing ( Kodjia did score some important goal and Hogan we may get something back on ) Apparantly we missed out on Cahill as didnt want to give him a 2 year deal , currently he will be playing PL football next season and we won't ..
  9. It will be like last time , we will have a bunch of players who want out , who we will be stuck with waiting for bids whilst we ourselves want to bring players in.It's the issue that effects every team going down which is why so many end up struggling to stay up let alone push to get back up. We will again need to build a side to go up knowing some of them won't be good enough in PL and need another rebuild , unless we can pull off what Wolves did with a super agent...
  10. I would agree that to me the players look like they have lost faith ,despite some of the PR spin It's why I would make a change as the player's need to direction from a new voice even if its just a short term solution.I also go alone with the point that when has manager has lose the group its very hard to get it back.Look at Posh at Spurs , he may go on and do well eslewhere ( many clubs would take him ) but Spurs had to make the change as he had lost the players.Mourinho is an interesting case as he has had great success but seems to lose players after 2 seasons and leaves the role .Chelsea he went back once there was a new bunch of players there was successful again but again lost the players and left. Point of I have made on the Smith thread is once the losing momentum is there its hard to turn it around and this idea we will drop down and he will wave a magic wand and 1) Get players used to losing back on board 2 ) Suppliment them with new players and results will pick up is fanciable. Purslow appointed him and Suso - so if the players brought are not good enough and the performance on the pitch inst good enough then he also has to be held to account Villa just seem unable to appoint the right people in the right roles to run a club even when we have billionaires running owning us
  11. On those stats could it be also we are conceding less chances as the games in general are less intense.Wolves massively played within themselves yesterday but have been since the restart , they don't concede so only need to score from a few chances to win games.
  12. Looks low on confidence but we are also not playing to his strengths , we don't get enough cross's into the box to use his heading ability and we don't play balls for him to run unto .He is ok at holding the ball up but its not his strength.
  13. Pretty damming that I am starting to think he is certainly part of our issues , certainly talks a good game but results not following.People attack Suso for the transfers but his remit comes from Purslow.
  14. Just saw that so that makes our task there pretty much impossible ...then United after top 4 ...
  15. Which is likely to be filled with reserves and kids so they can get a league winners medal for game time.
  16. From BBC Warnock and Jones at Luton both have instant impacts on teams I can't see Smith galvanising the squad in 7 days when he has failed to get them going with 3 months prep.Long term if we go down I don't see him turning round a losing mindset which he is part of losing effects players so it will effect managers too.He has managed a team to a win since Jan there is no way that is not effecting his decision making and mindset. I don't think we need some over technical manager now we need someone like we had with Sherwood who can come in and change the atmosphere , give players a fresh voice on sidelines and motivate them
  17. I don't think its even debatable , as soon as he returned we went on that winning run.

    Louie Barry

Struggling for goals can't see why he shouldnt be on the bench , I expect Liverpool will have some youngsters out next week
  19. More of the same for the rest of the season When we lose next week will he blame not playing for 7 days ?
  20. I keep seeing people saying its fine he will get us promoted nxt season if we go down but there is little evidence teams sticking with the same manager 1) come straight back up 2) that manager makes it through the season
  21. Not his fault , Suso put the order through
  22. Nope he is at Schalke who just set a new record of 16 games without a win ...so actually he would fit in well here
  23. I know Dyche at Burnley relegated and came back up and stayed up is there any other examples of this ..
  24. Might be worth a shot ...like I said I feel like just a different voice on the sidelines is needed.
