  1. The McGinn rumor was debunked by radio WM already
  2. As I said the last month we were in freefall and to me I saw very few signs of us turning it around as I'm sure Purslow must have seen. The Soton , Bournmouth and Leicester games where horror shows. The Soton game 2-0 was no reflection of that game could and should of been much more , from the kick off we were a shambles.
  3. Because there was a 2 week break after that game so we had time to make a change I think they gave Smith benefit of doubt over Xmas and let him bring in Drinkwater and Samatta. Whilst we had lost games its mostly in the last month of games we weren't just losing we were losing badly.
  4. Percy from the Telegraph had the story is was close to going , he is very reliable on Villa Stories.Though it was late in season we where appalling there was no glimmer of hope at all in the games it was embarrassing to watch , every game we where horrific at defending corners and that's training ground stuff that not been sorted. I also don't subscribe to the idea he will get us back up , unless he gets to keep most of the squad but I doubt that.
  5. Yeah he might have a point but using Klopp is not a good example
  6. The alternative view is if they ended this season now they could plan for next , as it is they look like cramming in this one and once its done leave themselves a few weeks to restart.Anything below the PL will struggle to get next season going
  7. The stats there are horrible , and again I maintain that whilst players are to blame in terms of accusations some are not good enough for me there is a coaching issue here . If the season hadn't been stopped a loss to Chelsea and he was getting his p45 so its interesting now to see what we do.Sacking him post Chelsea originally gave us a 2 week break to replace now replacing a new boss has to come in with zero time to do anything drastic. Also say how does Terry who played for teams who rarely conceded coach a team this poorly at set pieces
  8. The story is Brentford wanted 25-30 mil for Maupay in the end late in the Window he went for £20 mil Would his overall game have helped maybe , but on pure goal scoring he has 3 more goals playing almost 3 months more worth of matches
  9. I certainly agree on the striker both Wesley and Samatta are left so isolated CM again I agree we lack someone to bully players in there , a great example is Billing at Bournemouth who in both games kicked our team all over the place , of course very strong argument he should of been red carded in the home game.I think Nakamba isn't too bad at winning the ball back he went through a tricky spell but was getting some form back. From rough memory I don't think we have played a mid 3 of Luiz/McGinn/Nakamba that could work. At the moment McGinn is our big hope to get us going..well unless the 3 month break reduces the other teams MF to the physical levels of Drinkwater. Houriane ...sub only to be used if goal needed Other than McGinn the 2 other things that can turn the season is 1) Davis staying fit as it would give us the option of 2 upfront 2) We work on the 3-5-2 system so the centre backs know to move into CM like Shef United /Wolves play as opposed to our version which is to me 3 cbs win 2 playing as cbs in a back 4 and one who mops up to cover their mistakes.
  10. The Mo Salah who didn't make the grade at Chelsea and spent 2 years in Italy improving before coming back to England...not saying that will happen with Trez but despite not being an instant hit still has 3 goals in a struggling side. As for position well we currently have 3 wide players all right footed who all prefer to play on the left.
  11. Yes lets parade a trophy around an empty stadium ...FFS Looks like trouble in France , season was ended as belief was season had to be ended by 3rd August which wasn't accurate https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2020/uefa-president-ceferin-the-ligue-1-2019-20-season-could-have-taken-the-whole-of-august-if-it-needed/
  12. Unless Newcastle get brought and throw money around I don't see big fee's this summer , United are reported to lose 140 mil next season . Gov has told the PL that the social situation is not going to change for 6-12 months so every club is going to lose revenue , I don't see anyone over committing on fee's and wages
  13. Might give them time to work on 3-5-2 again , we put it together mid season with no time to really work on it.
  14. Yeah looks like June 19th so a month away. Time for Smith and Players to start prepping to save themselves on the pitch
  15. I'd say Pre season is out the Window Transfer wise it will be carnage especially for those who drop down , who will have clubs trying to hoover up best players on the cheap
  16. Hearts threatening legal action following the teams from France who were relegated on PPG
  17. Their plan is a wage cap and if you go over it when coming down they limited how much you can pay players who sign Essentially they want to get rid of parachute payments as they want the cash distributed how ever how you do that now with the gulf in money between the 2 leagues I don't know. It's not as if the teams coming down just go back up , some of the clubs with the most money issues in the EFL are former PL clubs who went down and have struggled to recover. If you have a wage budget of say 50 mil and go down with no parachute payment you would have £3mil in tv cash coming in plus ticket sales
  18. Which is why we looked at him but when they wanted too much money wasn't much we can do , if we had spent 30 mil on him and he had the same amount of goals for us as he has got for Brighton people would be on complaining he was a poor buy.
  19. As it says might be a reprieve as they want to restructure the league Same going on in England in lower leagues.
  20. As it says might be a reprieve as they want to restructure the league Same going on in England in lower leagues.
  21. SPL ended Celtic Champs , Hearts relegated
  22. Style of play is important we all want to see the team pinging the ball around nicely , but we also want to see us win or even not lose embarrassingly. When we get back playing I think we have to play 4-2-3-1 with Luiz and Nakamba holding with Grealish /McGinn and AEG behind Samatta
  23. Yes if we stay up he stays as long as Purslow etc can provide assurance next season won't be a struggle again
  24. Interesting stat in Germany 2nd last team back into Training where Frankfurt who were 2 down in under 10 mins Last team back training are Breman who play tonight worth keeping an eye out to see how they do
