WOnt jump the gun on this. Smith on WM said he’d be surprised if Abraham wasn’t with us at the end of the window. Can’t believe he’d have said that if this was going to break the day after. Not saying he won’t go but I don’t think it’s advanced as a bid accepted.
I don’t think he had a very good game at all today. Goal aside he gave the ball away countless times. We conceded the goals from the midfield (as all three were off the pace) and due to our left back issues.
Back four needs an organiser. Elphick has his limitations but hope he can re create the form he was in this time last year and the form he has shown at Hull.
Very good result considering a make shift defence, no Jack and a few other injuries. Agree with what he said about Albert offered us some good defensive cover when he came on.
The frustrating thing is they really aren’t very good. We’re getting into the game now. When we use the ball well they won’t cope with us but first 40 minutes our use of it has been dreadful.
Right backat left back, Right back at centre half. Best player out. A lot of teams would struggle with that outfit. We’re not going to get promoted. Smith needs time to mould this side with some of his own players and preferably some defenders.
Needs to be replaced. He’s not good enough and too inconsistent. All keepers will make errors but he makes at least two or three every game (some of which don’t lead to goals).
We were far the better side in the majority of the game and created far the better chances. That said I still think we could have been better! To think where we were a couple of months ago, Smith and his team are doing a fantastic job so far.
One of the only pundits I heard who wasn’t surprised about Bruce being sacked and was insightful on our style of play under him. Had clearly called it as he saw it.
Two points dropped. Should have won judging on second half but what on earth was that defending. Smith will be aware of course... and please McGrath get rid of the keeper.
The goal was great. As were the celebrations. Another Hutton moment that came close was after Jack scored. He ran the length of the small heath fans in the Witton giving them a double first pump. Brilliant.
