  1. so, IF (big IF I know) we were to get promoted to the Premier League at this time of asking, and the loan periods for Gil, Sanchez and Veretout expire, do we take them back if they want to return? Or do you thing that the fact they wanted out during our time in the Championship is cause enough for us not to accept them back? burnt bridges and all that I guess I ask because Jedinak is already ready to be made into glue, let alone stepping up to PL and perhaps Sanchez could fill that role. Likewise I think Veretout is a step up from Westwood, and arguable Gil a step up from Bacuna/ Gardner.
  2. Westwood > Jedinak *reaches for tin helmet*
  3. look at it this way. somewhere in the hinterlands of North east England/ south east Scotland there are fans hoping to see a youtube highlights video of their latest rumoured transfer target. I would say that if one were to be made of this season it would be pretty damn short and made up mainly of our Jack taking a nice touch, creating space, then getting fouled for holding the ball too long or taking a touch too many. This is not all his fault. In previous seasons, when he had mobile midfielders such as Cleverley and the snake who wont be named, he thrived. Westwood (who i rate incidently) is not mobile and doesnt make forward runs. Gardner (who I dont rate) doesnt make clever runs. And Jedinak (who isnt a footballer) cant run. Jack would improve the rest of the season with the midfield coming in. Guaranteed. So I truly hope we dont sell him. Though the docs message seemed to suggest he will be sold
  4. Can jedinak play or has he ever played centre back?. Because his poor passing and waning mobility make him a bit of a liability on the ball these days but his heading and tackling are impeccable
  5. Summer 2016 Transfers - Ins & Outs villaglint replied to ender4's topic in Villa Talk Anybody seen ConorHourihane play? Never have myself but got some decent stats for goals and assists for a CM albeit in a lower league. Any of the Irish VT contingent know anything about him. September 14, 2016 Thought this was interesting - first mention on here of Conor Hourihane in Septemebr 16. Well played @villaglint .
  6. man. i thought you were talking nonsense. then I remembered we have already signed Henri Flipping Lansbury too! I love this transfer window. Its the gift that keeps on giving!
  7. well that came out of the blue. Love it when we sign players and never heard a whisper about it
  8. if we dont sign him i'm gonna start going to Swansea games
  9. can you just for a second imagine the sheer volume of beautiful Icelandic clunge that engulfed this awesome man after that heroic Euros adventure. The poor sod was probably just knackered. and possibly dehaydrated For what its worth, I dont think he looks like the best footballer in the world and I think he will initially struggle but he is strong and robust and most importantly, if he works hard and chases everything and runs himself into the ground he will be given time by the villa faithful.
  10. so this looks like it is happening - which is awesome - but on a serious note, I feel like the names of Hourihane, Lansbury and Bree were all first mentioned on this forum as players that people thought we should sign/ would like to sign - rather than rumours that people had heard of who we were going to sign. And only then the rumours appeared here, then in the media, and then it became fact. If that makes sense. I think this forum has more influence than we realise..........
  11. There has also been a little bit of luck regarding the contract situations of the guys we are linked with / have bought to be fair
  12. excellent subtle uses of "probable", "may", and "may be". they form part of the sentence in an unobtrusive way but leaves juuuust enough wriggle room if the guess that you have derived from an aggregate of the rumours circulating the internet is incorrect. i'm impressed
  13. and he's so quick he is past your eyes before you realise
  14. I really didnt anticipate that we would be talking about Amavi as a weak link this season
  15. Bruce must surely know that it isnt a mental health issue to be calling him out in public like that. Surely Mental Health and its diagnosis is such a gray area that Bruce would have to be 100% sure that it is attitudinal or circumstantial rather than psychological before he and Tony have come out and said what they have. The danger now of course is that McCormack just has to hint at having mental health issues and the club, and Bruce and Tony as individuals, could be opening themselves up to all sorts of criticisms and actions. It an unfortunate truth that, the better the care and resources and laws we make for people with mental health, the more attractive they are for people to exploit and i'm sure we all know people that have both benefited form the system as well as people who have exploited the system. Apologies - I know im a bit off topic here, and I am not trying to assume anything about McCormack as an individual - but I think the approach that Tony and Bruce have taken here is really risky and I dont really see a happy ending here
  16. Id take the old thierry henry tbh. Still fitter than fatty mccormack
  17. and vice versa wheres the its happening guy when you need him........
  18. well he's gonna feel more at home now because Lansbury is the spit of 15/16 Joe Ledley
  19. well its about bloody time we had a midfielder with the wit to do something like that. Honesty and sportsmanship have gotten us nowhere lol
  20. serious question: why do Newcastle fans hate him so much? what did I miss?
  21. lol. He must be so frustrating to our marketing team Marketing Director: "no, seriously Tone, we have a strategy for this, timing is everything, we have to think of the marketing mix. We've had meetings for God sake, and have been doing this for years, so promise us Tony you will let us do our job that we are paid to do" Tony: *tweets* Marketing Director: "ffs"
