  1. There's a flip side to that - some of your points (e.g. Poch wouldn't do any better with the current players, our squad isn't good but Ollie is more talented than Andy Grey, etc) are rebuked in detail and you don't respond. The evidence against is just ignored. That's frustrating for everyone else. Back OT, I think SG is a dead man walking. Owners are probably in talks with more than one replacement, just keeping him on while legal matters are sorted both with him and his replacement. Maybe I'm living in a dream land but I don't think they'd let him go without some idea of who the replacement might be - even if it's not a nailed on certainty (which in fairness they'd get slaughtered for if they did).
  2. To be fair to him I have two kids, he has four, my job is way less stressful than his and he's two weeks older than me. After a rough week and a few pints I look like someone dredged up Ian Dowie from a dirty lake. He just looks like a pissed bloke.
  3. The only logical alternative that you're suggesting here is that we give SG more money to bring in "his" players - in addition to the 9 he already got in...
  4. It's getting a bit like the end of a match where the ref lets a team take a throw-in deep in their own half before blowing for full time. I honestly don't know what the board are expecting to happen that would change anything.
  5. I honestly wouldn't care if you all put your names in and envelope, sent it to Purslow and he picked one at random at this point. At least we'd get a Netflix series out of it.
  6. I would have had to get up at 6am to watch it where I am. Stayed in bed. Correct decision.
  7. If anyone gets The Times or has access, I shot the the photos for this artice in Saturday's magazine. Weird since I live in Canada now, but was kind of cool to get a UK-based job. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/i-got-high-on-a-magic-mushroom-trip-at-a-13-000-psychedelic-retreat-vw9860qwb
  8. She should have said that it's also down to the people - she needs more quality from her big hitters, some moments of magic.

    The NSWE Board

They are not immune to criticism but at the same time have a lot good faith in the bank. The SG appointment has proven to be a poor choice. The bit in bold is at best very debatable though.
  10. So you're not a better fan than "not a fan"? I'm not there yet on wanting to get beat to get rid of SG, but only because I'm weak and a hammering by Chelsea will ruin my week. I completely understand how people could be for it though.
  11. It feels like we're in the "crawling to freedom through five hundred yards of shit smelling foulness I can't even imagine" part of this movie. Hopefully we're near the end.

    The NSWE Board

I don't get the "owners have lost interest" sentiments. SG has been backed to the tune of £70m or so, and four of the players he bought in make up our top 5 earners. He wasn't exactly digging in the bargain bin. They've backed him and it's failing. No reason to think they won't back the next manager. They are the last people at the club that I'm worried about.
  13. If only we had a manager who could pick the right players...
  14. What in @villa4europe's post do you disagree with? Because I thought it was spot on.
  15. I wish I could print this out and nail it to the forehead of every moron pundit jumping on the "Mings is shit" bandwagon by blaming him for the goal. He was one of our better players today.
  16. I thought he looked ok today - playing out of position but trying to put himself about a bit. I guess it's a sad indictment of our situation that "trying to get involved" is now the bar for a reasonable performance. Will definitely be a player that we'll look back on in two seasons and wish we still had in the squad.
  17. A few times when he had the ball he looked desperate for someone to make the run he could see. Instead we managed to play narrow and not make runs through the middle. Our set pieces were also terrible (not sure what Nanny McPhee does all week tbh). Our only goal threat is a piece of magic from distance. Play him in a team with runners or width and he'd create.
  18. What about people who think he wouldn't do any better?
  19. Genuinely curious to see what the SG supporters have to say after that. The man himself is saying the players are good enough. The narrow formation he chose obviously wasn't working. The only excuse left is that he's the least bad option available, and that's pretty much defending the indefensible at this point.
  20. All I need to win my fantasy draft game this week is a Villa clean sheet. What was I thinking.
  21. Mate, I feel your pain. The excuses seem to be: 1. No-one else could do better with this squad, not even Poch or Tuchel. 2. Players have talent but they are not performing because they don't have desire. This is not SG's fault because motivation is obviously not his remit. 3. Players have no talent, squad is worse than Brighton for Potter's first season. This is not SG's fault despite signing 9 players since his arrival. 4. He's learning and his system needs time, despite the fact that if you accept (with Christ-like benefit of the doubt) that he had a system, he's obviously changed it recently. I don't know how you convince people who follow this line of reasoning since their answer seems to be "show me I'm wrong", which obviously isn't definitively possible in football. It's the Sherlock Holmes falacy - ignoring the fact that there may be a simple explanation; that SG is responsible for a lot of the above and just isn't cut out for elite management.
  22. What evidence do you have to suggest that Emi lacks these attributes? It's utter nonsense.
  23. Then in the next manager thread you said: "We have a frontline who can't score, to save their lives, is enough to get any sought after manager to baulk at the prospect of joining us." So Ollie's better than Andy Gray but can't score to save his life? I'm starting to wonder how many people use this account. And to keep it on topic, the problem with Emi clearly isn't effort, drive or desire - that's the last thing you'd fault him for.
